• Let go by Pittsburgh
The Steelers waived Mims on Tuesday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.

Advice: Mims spent his first three seasons with the Jets before being traded to Detroit in July of 2023. The 2020 second-round pick was eventually waived with a calf injury by the Lions ahead of last season. He then went unsigned before linking up with Pittsburgh's practice squad in October, though he never appeared in a game for the Steelers during the 2023 campaign and signed a future/reserves contract in January. Mims recorded 11 catches for 186 yards over 10 games during the 2022 season. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 5:40 pm

  • Rapoport: Stafford ‘wants more guaranteed money’
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Rams QB Matthew Stafford “wants his contract adjusted” after recent pay rises in the quarterback market.

Advice: Stafford is 36 years old and coming off a solid season passing for 3,965 yards, 24 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. The Rams and head coach Sean McVay feel like they are in a good, competitive spot with Stafford after a productive season that got the team to a Wild Card game. Rapoport says, to his understanding, Stafford “wants more guaranteed money, doesn’t sound like he would mind a raise either.” Stafford is set to make $31 million in 2024 and has no guaranteed money in the remaining two years of his deal after this season. He is not expected to hold out of training camp, but with recent jumps in the quarterback market, Stafford desires more guaranteed money as he enters the late-30s stage of his career. • Moves past injury
Patrick, who is moving past last summer's Achilles injury, looked healthy and sharp during the Broncos' mandatory minicamp this week, Jon Heath of the USA Today reports.

Advice: The report notes that Patrick -- who sustained a torn left Achilles late last July -- was one of the team's standout performers during Tuesday's session. As the coming campaign approaches, it remains to be seen what Patrick's role in Denver's offense will be, especially given that the 30-year-old last saw regular-season action in 2021. With Jerry Jeudy no longer in the mix, however, the pecking order behind top wideout Courtland Sutton has yet to be determined, which sets the stage for Patrick to vie for slotting in the coming months with Josh Reynolds, Troy Franklin, Marvin Mims, Lil'Jordan Humphrey, Brandon Johnson and Devaughn Vele. • Suffers broken collarbone
Cota sustained a broken collarbone during Tuesday's minicamp practice, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Coach Brian Daboll said Tuesday that he hopes every player on the Giants' roster will be ready for training camp, so it sounds like Cota's recovery may not be lengthy. As a rookie last season, Cota spent time on the Chiefs' and Texans' practice squads. Rotowire.com Friday, 8:40 am
