  • Schefty: Dolphins ‘want to pay’ Tagovailoa
    ESPN’s Adam Schefter said the Dolphins “want to pay” Tua Tagovailoa, but at a “fair market value.”

    Advice: As Schefter pointed out on NFL Live, the market for quarterbacks has seen a massive shift in recent weeks, with Jared Goff and Trevor Lawrence recently signing massive deals. According to Schefter, the Dolphins and Tagovailoa are now left to figure out “what is the proper value for a quarterback of [Tagovailoa’s] abilities,’ which could leave him on the shorter end of some of the deals we’ve seen given to quarterbacks as of late. Tagovailoa led the league with 4,624 passing yards last season and added another 29 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. He’s currently set to play out 2024 on the fifth-year option that was picked up last offseason, but Schefter believes a deal will eventually get done between the two sides. If Tagovailoa wants a deal similar to those of Goff and Lawerence, it’s possible he’ll need to play out this final year and prove to the Dolphins’ front office he’s worth that kind of commitment.   • A-Rich will be ‘full go’ for training camp
    The Colts said Anthony Richardson will be a “full go” entering training camp despite a sore shoulder that was bothering him earlier this offseason.

    Advice: Colts GM Chris Ballard said the team is not concerned about Richardson’s shoulder, which flared up earlier this month. Richardson underwent season-ending shoulder surgery to repair an AC joint sprain suffered in Week 5 and has been working his way back to the field ever since. When he wasn’t injured, Richardson flashed top-five fantasy upside as a rookie, thanks in part to his abilities as a rusher. Playing in Shane Steichen’s run-heavy attack, we’d expect Richardson to flash similar upside if he can stay healthy this season.   • Will be ready for training camp
    Colts general manager Chris Ballard said Monday in an appearance on "The GM Shuffle with Michael Lombardi and Femi Abebefet" podcast that Richardson (shoulder) will "be full go" for training camp.

    Advice: Richardson had rest days mixed into his on-field work during OTAs and mandatory minicamp as a result of shoulder soreness, but those bouts of fatigue don't seem to have represented an actual setback. Instead, the Colts are simply trying to take a cautious approach with Richardson as he recovers from October surgery on his right throwing shoulder. By the time training camp kicks off in late July, Richardson should be at full strength, but if he's still having to take days off at that time, it could represent more cause for concern. At full health, Richardson's combination of arm strength, size, and speed provide him with a tremendous fantasy ceiling, especially with rookie second-rounder Adonai Mitchell joining Michael Pittman, Josh Downs and Alec Pierce.   • Remains in lead for starter gig
    Wilson remains the clear favorite to start Week 1 under center for Pittsburgh and has made a good impression on his new coaching staff throughout OTAs and June minicamp, Chris Ward of SteelersNow.com reports.

    Advice: Wilson has impressed with arm talent and leadership throughout spring activities, per Mark Kaboldy of The Athletic, and he's reportedly dominated first-team reps to this point. Justin Fields could push for more opportunities during training camp, but for the time being, there's been nothing to suggest any shift from coach Mike Tomlin's remark early in the offseason that Wilson is in the "pole position" to start Week 1 under center. Experience and consistency alone could make enough difference for Wilson, a 35-year-old veteran, to win the starting gig over Fields, but he'll face pressure to keep Pittsburgh in the playoff race, given that he's playing on only a one-year contract.   • Logging impressive offseason
    Cunningham has been one of Baltimore's standouts throughout OTAs and minicamp, Jamison Hensley of ESPN reports.

    Advice: Cunningham made the switch to wideout this spring, with coach John Harbaugh calling him "kind of a natural at the position." Harbaugh also noted that because of Cunningham's experience at quarterback, he has a good understanding of the passing game from that perspective.   • Makes progress learning offense
    Mayfield made significant progress in picking up the intricacies of new coordinator Liam Coen's offense throughout the offseason, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports. "There's a lot fewer mistakes and 'M.E.'s," said head coach Todd Bowles. "He has a lot more audibles on his plate than he did in the past and he's getting them down very [well]."

    Advice: Bowles' comments came in the midst of the mandatory minicamp the Buccaneers held earlier in June, following a particularly productive penultimate practice of the offseason in which Mayfield spread the ball around effectively. Mayfield has had plenty of opportunity to progressively get a handle on the offensive system, as he was also part of 10 voluntary OTA practices before minicamp. While there figures to be some additional growing pains with the offense, there will be multiple weeks of training camp and preseason games for Mayfield and a top quartet of incumbent pass catchers in Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Trey Palmer and Cade Otton to continue building chemistry within it.   • Fowler: AOC has ‘a slight edge’ over Minshew
    ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports Raiders QB Aidan O’Connell “probably has the slight edge” over Gardner Minshew for the team’s starting quarterback job.

    Advice: Minshew went 7-6 as the Colts’ starter in 2023 and earned a two-year, $25 million contract from the Raiders in the offseason. It made sense to pencil him in as the starter when he signed the deal, but O’Connell has looked good in the offseason program after making some noise as a rookie. He went 5-5 as a starter and put his best work on tape down the stretch. O’Connell threw for eight touchdowns with no interceptions in the final four weeks of the season.   • Works with starters at minicamp
    Daniels got most of the first-team reps at June minicamp, Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports reports.

    Advice: Commanders WR Terry McLaurin, RB Austin Ekeler and head coach Dan Quinn all offered glowing praise during minicamp, mentioning Daniels' work ethic, leadership and understanding of Kliff Kingsbury's offense. Even so, Quinn hasn't determined a Week 1 starter and said the plan all along was for Daniels and Marcus Mariota to split first-team snaps during spring practices, per John Keim of ESPN.com. Reports from training camp in late July and early August should provide a better idea as to whether Daniels is truly competing with Mariota or is all but locked in for the Week 1 start at Tampa Bay.   • Beat: Titans could keep three QBs on roster
    Titans beat writer Jim Wyatt said, “At this point, I’m leaning toward thinking the Titans will keep three QBs” on their 53-man roster.

    Advice: Wyatt said he expects Mason Rudolph to beat out Malik Willis for the backup job behind Will Levis but he wouldn’t be surprised if Willis stuck around on the roster this upcoming season. Willis has thrown for 350 yards, no touchdown, and three interceptions in his 11 games as a pro while adding another 32-144-1 on the ground. Willis remains a developmental player heading into his third season, and while he may not be in line for too many starts this season, Wyatt added that the team “believes he’s worth keeping around” at this time.
