• Jaguars take flier on Steelers castoff Denzel Mims
Jaguars signed WR Denzel Mims, formerly of the Steelers.

Advice: Mims was released by the Steelers earlier this week and will now have a chance to compete for a spot on the Jaguars’ roster this offseason. The former second-round pick hasn’t played a regular-season snap since 2022 and is now set to join his fourth team over that span. He’ll face an uphill battle to make a Jaguars roster that returns Christian Kirk and also added Gabe Davis, Devin Duvernay, and Brian Thomas Jr. this offseason. Rotoworld Thursday, 6:25 am

  • Okonkwo feels ‘big difference’ from ’23 to ’24
Chig Okonkwo said he feels “a big difference, even the way I feel, my body” headed into the 2024 season.

Advice: The third-year tight end has focused on stability work designed to help with more precise route running. “I feel like I maximized the potential I had in my body, and if I wanted to get better, I had to change the structure of how I move and stuff,” Okonkwo told the team’s website. Though his stats fell off dramatically from 2022 to 2023 — including a yards per route run that went from a stellar 2.61 to 1.31 — Okonkwo remains a highly athletic tight end who could benefit from a modernized offense under new head coach Brian Callahan. He said he looks forward to making plays on the inside as defenses focus their attention on DeAndre Hopkins and Calvin Ridley on the outside. Okonkwo, who ran 58 percent of his routes from the slot in 2023, could very well bounce back in a more pass-heavy Titans offense this season. Rotoworld Wednesday, 7:48 am

  • Lands on IR
The Giants placed Cota (collarbone) on injured reserve Tuesday, Matt Citak of the team's official site reports.

Advice: Cota sustained a broken collarbone during minicamp practice Tuesday, and he'll now move to season-ending IR. The 23-year-old could still appear in the 2024 campaign if he is waived with an injury settlement, though he may have to wait until the 2025 season to make his NFL debut. Cota spent his 2023 rookie campaign between the Chiefs' and Texans' practice squads. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 7:39 pm

  • Let go by Pittsburgh
The Steelers waived Mims on Tuesday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.

Advice: Mims spent his first three seasons with the Jets before being traded to Detroit in July of 2023. The 2020 second-round pick was eventually waived with a calf injury by the Lions ahead of last season. He then went unsigned before linking up with Pittsburgh's practice squad in October, though he never appeared in a game for the Steelers during the 2023 campaign and signed a future/reserves contract in January. Mims recorded 11 catches for 186 yards over 10 games during the 2022 season. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 5:40 pm

  • Waived by Miami
Sexton was waived by the Dolphins on Tuesday, Alain Poupart of SI.com reports.

Advice: Sexton spent time on the practice squad of both the Falcons and Patriots during the 2023 seasons before landing in Miami in January. It looks like the journeyman was simply unable to make an impression for a spot on the team's deep wide receiver depth chart, so he will now have to look for an opportunity elsewhere. • Signs with Chicago
The Bears signed Carter to a one-year contract Tuesday.

Advice: Carter suited up for all 17 regular-season games with the Raiders in 2023 and racked up 494 return yards in that span. He also contributed four catches for 39 yards and three carries for 17 yards. The 31-year-old veteran now stands to compete for a similar role including the return game with Chicago. • Joining Big Blue
Saylors has agreed to terms on a contract with the Giants, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Advice: Saylors joined the Bengals' roster prior to the 2023 season as an undrafted free agent before getting waived during final roster cuts. He ultimately landed with the Falcons' practice squad in October. He then suffered an undisclosed injury in November that landed him on injured reserve. With his addition to New York's roster, it looks like he is good to go heading into the 2024 season. There are five other running backs on the roster, so Saylors figures to have his work cut out for him going forward. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 7:14 am

  • Picked up by Carolina
Davis (concussion) has agreed to terms on a contract with the Panthers, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Advice: Davis missed the entire 2023 season after suffering a concussion in the Dolphins' final preseason game and subsequently being placed on injured reserve. With his rookie season over prematurely, the Western Kentucky product will now look to make an impression in Carolina. However, he will have his work cut out for him as one of 13 wide receivers currently on the roster. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 7:08 am

  • Giants sign former UFL RB Jacob Saylors
Giants signed RB Jacob Saylors, formerly of the UFL’s St. Louis Battlehawks.

Advice: Saylors in 2024 led the UFL in rushing yards (537), averaging five yards per carry and scoring five touchdowns for the Battlehawks. Saylors led the UFL in yards after contact per rush. He also caught 24 passes for 264 yards. It will be an uphill battle for Saylors to crack the Giants roster this summer. For now, Devin Singletary and Tyrone Tracy are expected to lead New York’s backfield. Rotoworld Tuesday, 5:08 am
