Led by a Talented WR Corps, Geaux Saints Is a Team to Watch Out For

Draft Summary

Geaux Saints put together an underrated roster that might not dominate week in and week out, but will be firmly entrenched in a playoff spot by season's end. They're projected to finish the season with a 9-4-0 (1,570) record in NFL 2015 Keeper Leaugue League, which will be good enough for third. They aimed for having a roster with balance throughout, taking QB Andrew Luck (5th overall), RBs Jamaal Charles (15th) and DeMarco Murray (25th), and WRs Antonio Brown (35th) and Keenan Allen (45th). They ended up with the top group of WRs in the league, as they have Brown, Brandon Marshall, Allen, and Willie Snead for their rotation.

Not bad, but you've still got room for improvement. Becoming a Toyota Hall Of Famer would certainly qualify. Nominate yourself now.

Week 10 might require some artful managing from Geaux Saints, as their top two projected scorers (Andrew Luck and Derek Carr) will be on bye that week. Looking at the entire season, they have a harder-than-average schedule. Although they have the fourth-most grueling overall schedule, Geaux Saints actually has the league's second-easiest first four games and second-softest last four games of the season.

Draft Notes

  • Brett Favre is Just a Phone Call Away

It's likely that in Week 10, Geaux Saints will either be scraping the wire or begging for a trade (Andrew Luck and Derek Carr will both be on bye). You can give Favre a call, but texting him isn't recommended.

  • Asset Management

Geaux Saints is loaded at WR and RB. Could they be willing to leverage some of that talent and listen to trade offers from other teams in NFL 2015 Keeper Leaugue League?

  • On the Rise

Geaux Saints hopes to break through this season, led by six players who are projected to significantly exceed their fantasy points from last season.

  • Close to the Vest

Geaux Saints was focused on a squad with minimal volatility, grabbing seven "low-risk" players out of 17 picks.

  • A Dominating Pair

Geaux Saints has a pair of fantasy MVPs in their lineup. Last season, two of their players (Antonio Brown and Brandon Marshall) finished among the top-20 players that were on the most first-place fantasy teams.

  • Bargain Shopper

With three steals in the first 10 rounds (Brandon Marshall, Antonio Brown, and Keenan Allen), Geaux Saints made some shrewd moves.

Player Analysis

    • Andrew Luck, QB
    • Round 1, Pick 5
    Geaux Saints's Stud Signal-Caller

Andrew Luck is projected to rack up 319 points this year, enough to rank third among all QBs.

    • Jamaal Charles, RB
    • Round 2, Pick 15
Is His Jersey Made of Honey?

Because the projections for Jamaal Charles are sweet! He's projected to be the 10th-best RB in the league this season.

    • DeMarco Murray, RB
    • Round 3, Pick 25
    A Choice That Wasn't Exactly Data-Driven

According to projections, DeMarco Murray will fall outside of the NFL top-20 in both rushing TDs (21st with 5.7) and yards (26th with 778). Seems like Geaux Saints just went with their gut on this one.

    • Antonio Brown, WR
    • Round 4, Pick 35
    Better Lucky Than Good?

The rest of NFL 2015 Keeper Leaugue League overlooked a gem, and Geaux Saints made the smartest value pick of the round by taking Antonio Brown.

    • Keenan Allen, WR
    • Round 5, Pick 45
    The Power of Persuasion

Now would be a reasonable time for Geaux Saints to encourage the NFL 2015 Keeper Leaugue League to increase the value of receptions. They grabbed Keenan Allen and his 99 projected catches (ranked fifth in the NFL).

How We Grade

Draft grades are based strictly on teams' draft performances. This is calculated by counting the number of fantasy points teams are projected to score over the course of the season using their optimal line-ups. The grades do not take schedule into account. Because of bye weeks and other variables it is possible to earn a high grade yet be projected to finish in the middle of the pack. The opposite is also true. Bottom line: Fantasy Football is like the real game. You can draft the greatest talent in the world but you still need to manage your team every week to get the most out of that talent. As a wise man once said, "On any given Sunday..."
