• Earns chance in Jacksonville
The Jaguars signed McGowan to a contract Friday.

Advice: McGowan suited up for two games with Washington as a rookie back in 2022 but was cut by the team with an undisclosed injury prior to the 2023 season, and he hadn't been able to find a new landing spot until now. The 24-year-old wideout will now compete to earn a depth role with the Jaguars. Rotowire.com Friday, 8:46 am

  • Dealing with AC sprain
Ford-Wheaton (shoulder) suffered an AC sprain during Tuesday's minicamp practice, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Ford-Wheaton missed the entire 2023 season while rehabbing from a torn ACL, and while it appears he's completed rehab on his knee, the second-year pro is now dealing with a new injury. Coach Brian Daboll said Tuesday that he hopes every player on the Giants' roster will be ready for training camp, though, so Ford-Wheaton should be on track to return by late July. • Dropped by Denver
The Broncos waived Leonard (undisclosed) with an injury settlement Thursday, Parker Gabriel of The Denver Post reports.

Advice: The 6-foot-5 tight end went undrafted out of Georgia Tech this past offseason before being picked up by the Broncos. Both the nature and severity of Leonard's injury are currently unknown, but he will be able to sign elsewhere once he proves that he's medically ready to return to the field. • Not attending minicamp
Higgins hasn't signed his franchise tag and isn't attending June minicamp, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Advice: Higgins would need to sign the tag before practicing and can't be fined while he's technically not under contract. He reportedly asked for a trade in March, but in April he told reporters that he expected to play for the Bengals this season. There's a July 15 deadline for franchise-tagged players to sign long-term contracts. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 6:38 am

  • Brissett on Maye: ‘Every day he’s gotten better’
Jacoby Brissett said of QB Drake Maye, “Every day he’s gotten better.”

Advice: Brissett also added that the team has seen Maye’s “progression come alive” in OTAs and at mandatory minicamp. Last week, Maye earned some reps with the second-team offense and was working with the same group on Monday when the team opened its first day of minicamp. Head coach Jerod Mayo said we at this time, but it’s hard to ignore what we’re seeing. It’s too early to know whether or not Maye will threaten Brissett for the Week 1 nod out of training camp, but if he’s already moved past Bailey Zappe, that leaves only one more hurdle for the No. 3 overall pick to clear in training camp.
