    • Jaguars take flier on Steelers castoff Denzel Mims
Jaguars signed WR Denzel Mims, formerly of the Steelers.

Advice: Mims was released by the Steelers earlier this week and will now have a chance to compete for a spot on the Jaguars’ roster this offseason. The former second-round pick hasn’t played a regular-season snap since 2022 and is now set to join his fourth team over that span. He’ll face an uphill battle to make a Jaguars roster that returns Christian Kirk and also added Gabe Davis, Devin Duvernay, and Brian Thomas Jr. this offseason. Rotoworld Today, 6:25 am

    • Dropped by Green Bay
The Packers waived Podlesny on Wednesday.

Advice: Podlesny agreed to a reserve/future contract with the Packers in January after going undrafted last spring, but the team has now decided to part ways with the 24-year-old kicker. With Podlesny getting waived, Green Bay's kicking competition will be between Greg Joseph and Anders Carlson, barring any outside additions prior to training camp. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:11 pm

    • George Kittle lost 30 pounds after core surgery
George Kittle said he lost around 30 pounds after undergoing core muscle surgery this offseason.

Advice: Kittle in a podcast appearance said he was well below his 250-pound playing weight following his surgery. He sustained the core injury around midseason last year and played through it during the Niners’ Super Bowl run. “I couldn’t lift,” Kittle said. “I couldn’t do any upper body because of my shoulder and my rib, and I couldn’t do lower [body] because of my core surgery. … I didn’t lift from the Super Bowl until like almost mid-March. ... I went a month without doing anything, I wasn’t supposed to do anything.” Kittle, 30, plans to work this summer to gain back the weight he lost ahead of his eighth pro season. Last year, Kittle was tenth among tight ends in receptions (65) and first in receiving yards (1,023). Rotoworld Yesterday, 12:50 pm

    • Waived by Pittsburgh
The Steelers waived Thompson (neck) on Wednesday.

Advice: Thompson appears to have recovered from the neck injury that caused him to be placed on injured reserve back in January, as he wasn't waived with an injury designation. He suited up for six contests (one start) with Pittsburgh in 2023, recording 22 tackles, three passes defensed and one interception. Alan Saunders of SteelersNow.com relays that Thompson opted against undergoing offseason surgery and was able to recover from the neck injury through rest and rehab. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:57 am

    • Okonkwo feels ‘big difference’ from ’23 to ’24
Chig Okonkwo said he feels “a big difference, even the way I feel, my body” headed into the 2024 season.

Advice: The third-year tight end has focused on stability work designed to help with more precise route running. “I feel like I maximized the potential I had in my body, and if I wanted to get better, I had to change the structure of how I move and stuff,” Okonkwo told the team’s website. Though his stats fell off dramatically from 2022 to 2023 — including a yards per route run that went from a stellar 2.61 to 1.31 — Okonkwo remains a highly athletic tight end who could benefit from a modernized offense under new head coach Brian Callahan. He said he looks forward to making plays on the inside as defenses focus their attention on DeAndre Hopkins and Calvin Ridley on the outside. Okonkwo, who ran 58 percent of his routes from the slot in 2023, could very well bounce back in a more pass-heavy Titans offense this season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:48 am

    • Picked up by Dallas
Conley (ankle) signed a contract with the Cowboys on Tuesday.

Advice: Conley will link back up with an NFL roster after going unsigned since the end of the 2020 campaign. The 6-foot cornerback was drafted by the Raiders in the first round of the 2017 Draft, but his career was partially derailed by lingering ankle injuries, which forced him to miss the entirety of the 2020 season with the Texans. Conley played 14 games between the Raiders and Texans in 2019, tallying 50 tackles and 13 passes defended, including one interception. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 7:49 pm

    • Lands on IR
The Giants placed Cota (collarbone) on injured reserve Tuesday, Matt Citak of the team's official site reports.

Advice: Cota sustained a broken collarbone during minicamp practice Tuesday, and he'll now move to season-ending IR. The 23-year-old could still appear in the 2024 campaign if he is waived with an injury settlement, though he may have to wait until the 2025 season to make his NFL debut. Cota spent his 2023 rookie campaign between the Chiefs' and Texans' practice squads. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 7:39 pm

    • On track for training camp
Kittle (groin) is recovered from his core-muscle surgery, David Lombardi of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Kittle has been a full participant on the practice field at his Tight End University offseason workouts. He founded the three-day camp with fellow tight ends Travis Kelce and the now-retired Greg Olsen. Kittle played through a groin injury last season before undergoing core-muscle surgery in the offseason. He had previously stated his intentions to be ready for training camp, and it appears the star tight end is on track to do just that. He projects to again be a top fantasy option at his position in 2024. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 6:24 pm

    • Let go by Pittsburgh
The Steelers waived Mims on Tuesday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.

Advice: Mims spent his first three seasons with the Jets before being traded to Detroit in July of 2023. The 2020 second-round pick was eventually waived with a calf injury by the Lions ahead of last season. He then went unsigned before linking up with Pittsburgh's practice squad in October, though he never appeared in a game for the Steelers during the 2023 campaign and signed a future/reserves contract in January. Mims recorded 11 catches for 186 yards over 10 games during the 2022 season. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 5:40 pm
