  • Ben overwhelmed by Bengals defense in Week 12 loss
Ben Roethlisberger completed 24-of-41 attempts for 263 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions in the Steelers' Week 12 loss to the Bengals.

Advice: Roethlisberger saved his statistical day -- and that of his pass catchers -- with a fourth quarter drive while down 38 points to Cincy. He seemed to be out of sync with Chase Claypool throughout the game, resulting in a first quarter interception on a pass to the sideline while Claypool streaked downfield. Roethlisberger's weak throwing arm wreaked havoc at the end of the first half when he tried a late throw to the boundary that was picked off for a touchdown, essentially ending the game in the second quarter. Roethlisberger was sacked thrice and pressured on nearly every drop back. Fantasy managers should treat him as a mid-range QB2 next week against the pass-funnel Ravens defense.  NBCSportsEDGE.com 5 minutes ago

  • D,J. Moore goes over 100 with 4-103 vs. Dolphins
D.J. Moore caught 4-of-10 targets for 103 yards in the Panthers' Week 12 loss to the Dolphins.

Advice: Moore easily paced the Panthers with his 10 targets, but Cam Newton completed just 5-of-21 throws before being benched for P.J. Walker in the fourth quarter. Newton's lone meaningful completion was a 64-yarder to Moore to set up the Panthers' only touchdown. It was actually underthrown after Moore had multiple steps on the defense. With the aid of garbage time, Moore went over 100 yards for the first time since Week 4. He's devolved into a WR2/3 in Carolina's run-oriented offense but remains the team's clear-cut target hog. Moore gets the Week 13 bye before the Falcons in two weeks. NBCSportsEDGE.com 6 minutes ago

  • Tevin Coleman leads Jets backfield with 67 yards
Tevin Coleman rushed 16 times for 67 yards in New York's Week 12 win over the Texans, adding two catches on three targets for three additional yards.

Advice: The last time Coleman got this many rushing yards in a game was Week 7 of the 2019 season, when he rushed for 105 yards and three touchdowns for the 49ers. While he'll undoubtedly get some juice on the waiver wire this week, it's going to be hard to believe he'll outperform this game as the run-first back on a team that rarely leads. The Jets offensive line was able to push the Texans around, though, and Coleman did look nice with the space. New York's next game is against the Eagles. Coleman will be deep on the FLEX line.  NBCSportsEDGE.com 8 minutes ago

  • Mixon cruises to 165 yards, 2 scores vs. Steelers
Joe Mixon had 28 rushes for 165 yards and two touchdowns in the Bengals' Week 12 win against the Steelers, adding four catches for -2 yards.

Advice: Mixon would have easily had more than 200 rushing yards if the Bengals hadn't rested him in the fourth quarter, up 38 points on their division rival. The Bengals force fed Mixon on the team's opening drive and had no reason to stop against a Pittsburgh defense that's now given up 355 yards on the ground over their past two games. Mixon's four receptions on four targets was hopeful usage, even it resulted in negative yardage. With six scores over his past three games, Mixon has as much touchdown equity as any back in the game. The Bengals' game plan is clearly to feed Mixon whenever game script allows. He'll be a locked-and-loaded RB1 option in Week 13 against the Chargers -- one of the league's worst run defenses.  NBCSportsEDGE.com 10 minutes ago

  • Zach Wilson game-manages first win over Texans
Zach Wilson completed 14-of-24 passes for 141 yards and an interception in the Jets 21-14 Week 12 win over the Texans, adding a rushing touchdown.

Advice: Wilson's pick will be in the discussion for Sad Quarterback Interception of the Year as he flung a pass at Ty Johnson's back only to watch it deflect into Tavierre Thomas' hands. 46 of Wilson's passing yards came on one curl route to Braxton Berrios, and he missed several open receivers. To make matters worse, Wilson came up limping on a near-sack early in the fourth quarter and it was the same leg his PCL strain was on. Should Wilson overcome performance and injury to remain the starter in Week 13, Eagles D/ST will be a popular streamer.  NBCSportsEDGE.com 15 minutes ago

  • Tua completes 87% of throws in win over Carolina
Tua Tagovailoa completed 27-of-31 passes for 230 yards and one touchdown in the Dolphins' 33-10, Week 12 win over the Panthers.

Advice: After completing over 81.8% of his throws last week against the Jets, Tua bettered it today by completing over 87% of passes against Carolina's vaunted pass defense. Tua has three games of at least an 80% completion rate, and now the Dolphins have strung together four straight wins to put themselves back in the playoff picture. Tagovailoa's touchdown in this one was a nine-yard hookup with Jaylen Waddle, who went 9-137-1 on 10 targets from Tua. Tagovailoa will be a higher-end QB2 in Week 13 against the Giants. • C-Patt torches Jags for 135 total yards, two TDs
Cordarrelle Patterson rushed 16 times for 108 yards and two touchdowns in the Falcons' Week 12 win over the Jaguars.

Advice: Patterson added two catches for 27 yards on three targets. The only reason he didn't do more through the air is that he earned Atalanta a comfortable lead, resulting in Matt Ryan attempting just 29 passes. At 6.8 yards per carry, Patterson posted his most efficient and productive rushing day as a Falcon. His 108 yards were a career-high and represent his second game topping the century mark in nine years as a pro. Patterson looked the part as well, breaking weak tackles and running over defenders throughout the day. With a 16-9 split of the running back carries, Patterson looks more like an RB1 than ever before. He'll push for top-12 status in the Falcons' Week 13 matchup with the Bucs. • Myles Gaskin (16-49-2) scores twice vs. Panthers
Myles Gaskin rushed 16 times for 49 yards and two touchdowns in the Dolphins' Week 12 win over the Panthers.

Advice: With the Dolphins steamrolling the Panthers, Gaskin didn't need to be used in the pass game, though he did catch both of his targets, totaling just three yards. Looking at the final numbers, Gaskin out-carried newcomer Phillip Lindsay just 16-12, but Lindsay got almost all of his work late to kill the clock. Gaskin's two rushing scores were his second and third of the year. He has double-digit carries in six straight contests and will be a middling RB2 next week against the Giants. • Mac Jones throws for season-high 310 yards, 2 TDs
Mac Jones completed 23-of-32 passes for 310 yards and two touchdowns in the Patriots' 36-13, Week 12 win over the Titans.

Advice: Coming off a trio of quieter affairs where the Pats were able to ratchet up their rushing attack against non-competitive opponents, Jones finally got some passing volume and turned it into a season-high 310 yards and his fifth multi-score start. Both of Jones' touchdowns went to Kendrick Bourne, with the first being an end zone dime over Kevin Byard and the second a 41-yarder where Bourne took a short target and turned it into a winding sideline affair. Jones was not perfect, missing what should have been a 26-yard touchdown to a free-and-clear Hunter Henry late in the first half, but he avoided turnovers against a severely-undermanned team. Although he is doing everything the Patriots could hope for in "real life," Jones continues to provide a modest fantasy floor without much ceiling headed into a tough road date with the Bills.  NBCSportsEDGE.com 26 minutes ago

  • Waddle hits century mark with 9-137-1 vs. Panthers
Jaylen Waddle caught 9-of-10 targets for 137 yards and one touchdown in the Dolphins' Week 12 win over the Panthers.

Advice: It was Waddle's first 100-yard game of the season, and he caught his first touchdown since Week 6 with a nine-yard score in the second quarter. Waddle's yards were keyed by a 57-yard pickup on a crosser where he hit over 21 MPH before being chased down. It was Waddle's longest catch of the year to date. Targeted on over 32.2% of Tua Tagovailoa's throws in this one, Waddle has been the engine of the Miami passing attack all year with DeVante Parker and Will Fuller in the midst of lost, injury-riddled seasons. Waddle has seen at least six targets in all but one game since Week 1 and will be a volume-driven WR2 next week against the Giants. NBCSportsEDGE.com 28 minutes ago

  • CMC rolls ankle, doesn't touch ball in second half
Christian McCaffrey rushed 10 times for 35 yards and failed to catch a pass on one target in the Panthers' Week 12 loss to the Dolphins.

Advice: Cam Newton was flat-out terrible before being benched after three quarters; he completed just five passes, so there was no chance for McCaffrey to get going as a pass-catcher. He recorded all 10 of his carries in the first half and appeared to roll his ankle late in the second quarter. The Panthers refused to acknowledge the injury during the game, but FOX's Jen Hale reported there was an injury. CMC played one snap in the second half and immediately went back to the sideline where he was seen rolling his ankle to stay loose. It didn't look like a serious injury, but CMC's ailments have been piling up the last two years. Carolina will head on its bye before a Week 14 date with the Falcons. It would be wise to add Chuba Hubbard again in fantasy leagues. NBCSportsEDGE.com 34 minutes ago

  • Cam benched after going 5-of-21 passing and 2 INTs
Cam Newton was benched in the fourth quarter of the Panthers' Week 12 game against the Dolphins after completing just 5-of-21 passes for 92 scoreless yards and two interceptions.

Advice: A truly horrendous performance. Newton "saved" it a bit with a short rushing touchdown, but even his rushing numbers -- three carries for five yards -- underwhelmed. His lone meaningful pass play was a 64-yard completion to D.J. Moore, and even it was a bad throw after Moore got behind the defense and had to wait on the pass. It's hard to explain just how bad Newton was in this one before being pulled in favor of P.J. Walker with the Panthers down 30-10 early in the fourth quarter. We assume Cam will be back under center after the Week 13 bye when Carolina hosts the Falcons in Week 14. Once playoff hopefuls, the Panthers are now 5-7, with Newton 0-2 in his two starts. Advice: Patterson was sidelined with the ankle issue last week but should return to his normal workload versus the Jags. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport previously noted that Patterson is feeling much better this week. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Cordarrelle Patterson (ankle, questionable) will be a game-time decision.

Patterson looks like a locked-in RB if healthy enough to suit up, facing up an exploitable Jaguars defense. • Rhule: 'No issues' with Newton's arm strength
Panthers head coach Matt Rhule said there are "no issues" with Cam Newton's arm strength.

Advice: Having undergone multiple surgeries on his throwing shoulder in recent years, Newton's ability to make downfield throws -- a former strength of his -- was in question when Carolina signed him as their starter this month. Newton completed 21 of his 26 attempts for 189 yards (7.26 yards per attempt) in his Week 11 start against Washington, but completed just one pass of more than 19 yards. Rhule said the lack of downfield passing was due to offensive coordinator Joe Brady's game plan. “Typically, since we’ve been here, Joe’s been more of an underneath, passing game guy," Rhule said. "We have to continue to push the deep passing game. ... So I wouldn’t put that on (Newton). I know that’s kind of a narrative right now." More down-the-field attempts would give D.J. Moore and Robby Anderson some sort of fantasy ceiling in a Cam-led offense. For now, only Moore -- who had 50 yards and a touchdown on five catches against Washington -- has a decent statistical floor.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Friday, 6:23 am

Absent a "full" day on Friday, however, we can't quite yet take his status for granted. If C-Patt goes, he will immediately return to the top 20 at running back. • Dolphins claim Phillip Lindsay off waivers
Dolphins claimed RB Phillip Lindsay off waivers from the Texans.

Advice: This is a great landing spot for Lindsay. Myles Gaskin has struggled to get anything going on the ground all season, and Duke Johnson just served as the No. 2 running back a day after being promoted from the practice squad. All of that said, it is a concern that Lindsay was not able to command more touches in Houston's backfield before they ultimately waived him earlier this week. Lindsay is at best a speculative add in deep leagues, but his role is worth monitoring.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Wednesday, 1:15 pm

Advice: Patterson almost fought his way into the lineup last week on Thursday night, and it sounds like his status will be at least on the optimistic side of questionable as the Falcons begin preparations for the Jaguars. The Athletic's Connor Hughes reports Jets QB Zach Wilson will start in Week 12 against the Texans.

Advice: Wilson, four weeks removed from his PCL injury and now fully healthy, returns to an offense that performed significantly better without him over the last month. Although the Texans offer little pushback, the No. 2 overall pick performed ghastly with nine turnovers and 19 sacks taken through six starts. • Texans waive No. 3 running back Phillip Lindsay
    Texans waived Phillip Lindsay.

Advice: The writing was on the wall after Lindsay saw a mere three rushes in the Texans' Week 11 win over the Titans. Houston ran the ball 32 times and Lindsay was hardly involved. His forgettable half season with the Texans included 50 rushing attempts for 130 yards (2.6 yards per carry) and one touchdown. Once upon a time, Lindsay was a Pro Bowl running back who gained 2,489 total yards in his first two NFL seasons. Advice: Roethlisberger's return was a welcome sight for Steelers fans who had to watch Mason Rudolph play football last week. Although Pittsburgh couldn't close it out in the end, Roethlisberger mounted an admirable second-half comeback and threw three touchdowns. His best pass came on a beautiful goal-line fade to Diontae Johnson, who made a spectacular play in his own right to reel it in and stay inbounds. Advice: Even with Kenneth Gainwell healthy scratched, Scott was the clear RB3 with Miles Sanders back in the fold. All six of Scott's carries came after the Eagles built up a 27-7 halftime lead. He probably would not have seen even that much work had Jordan Howard not missed most of the second half with a knee injury. Advice: Mixon now has at least one touchdown in each of his previous seven games. He has also scored twice in three consecutive games. Mixon sealed the game with a 20-yard score that came shortly after a Derek Carr interception in his own territory. The only blemish on Mixon's day was a lack of receiving work. Advice: Roethlisberger will start in Week 11 after missing last week due to COVID. While Big Ben has had his ups and downs this season, it's still good news for a Steelers offense that struggled mightily with Mason Rudolph at the helm in Week 10 (against a putrid Detroit defense). Advice: Cam Newton continued to pepper CMC with looks out of the backfield a week after McCaffrey nabbed ten of ten targets against Arizona. Leading the Panthers in targets, McCaffrey caught his touchdown on a 27-yard option route. Newton hit him in stride and CMC scored easily. Both Newton and CMC saw ten rushing attempts on the day, and McCaffrey will likely be the only sure thing for the Panthers for as long as Cam is under center. • D.J. Moore catches one of two Cam TDs vs. WFT
D.J. Moore caught 5-of-7 targets for 50 yards and a touchdown in the Panthers' Week 11 loss to the Football Team.

Advice: Plunging from borderline WR1 status in the season's first month to WR3/4 territory in the Panthers' deteriorating offense, Moore did well in Cam Newton's first 2021 start on limited volume. Moore is going to have to get it done on few targets going forward if the Panthers offense is as run heavy as it was against the Football Team (Newton threw 27 passes). Moore, who doesn't have double digit targets since Week 6, will be a solid high-end WR3 option in Week 12 against Miami. Jalen Hurts completed 13-of-24 passes for 147 scoreless, turnover-free yards in the Eagles' 40-29, Week 11 win over the Saints, adding 18 carries for 69 additional yards and three touchdowns.

Advice: Whoa Nellie. Hurts' scores went for one, three and 24 yards. For the second, he extended past the pylon as he went out of bounds. For the third, he broke ankles and tackles on a read option keeper. Hurts entered this afternoon with zero rushing scores in his past four contests. He exited it with this third multi-rushing TD effort of the season. He also keyed an extremely rare 200-yard team rushing day vs. the Saints, just the second in the past six years. The other, you may remember, was another Hurts-led Eagles attack last season. It has come against a tissue-soft schedule, but the Eagles have done an excellent job harnessing Hurts' unique skill-set over the past month. Advice: Waddle had a rushing touchdown in the first half when the Dolphins lined up in wildcat formation, and he was Tua Tagovailoa's most-targeted receiver against the hapless Jets. For the most part, Miami was happy to dink and dunk down the field, so Waddle mainly got underneath looks. Advice: With Malcolm Brown on injured reserve and Salvon Ahmed a healthy scratch, Duke Johnson was Gaskin's primary backup against the Jets. Johnson had four carries, but Gaskin dominated Miami's backfield touches for the most part. He caught the go-ahead touchdown in the second half to put the Dolphins up for good – a difficult catch on which he got pummeled right as he grabbed it. Tua Tagovailoa completed 27-of-33 passes for 273 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception in the Dolphins' Week 11 win over the Jets.

Advice: Tagovailoa mostly dinked and dunked his way down the field, but he did connect for a 65-yard touchdown with Mack Hollins in the second half. He had another crisp pass to Myles Gaskin for a touchdown late in the game to give the Dolphins the lead. Tagovailoa averaged a strong 8.3 yards per attempt, but Miami didn't ask him to do too much for most of the game, even opting to play it safe when they could've tried for a two-minute-drive touchdown at the end of the first half. Tua is a QB2 moving forward. NBCSportsEDGE.com Sunday, 1:24 pm

  • Cam accounts for three TDs in first 2021 start
Cam Newton completed 20-of-25 passes for 189 yards and two touchdowns in the Panthers' Week 11 loss to Washington, adding 46 rushing yards and a touchdown.

Advice: Newton, it turns out, did not split QB snaps with P.J. Walker in his first start of 2021. With fresh legs and good-enough passing, Newton moved the ball well against the middling Washington defense, missing EDGE rusher Chase Young (knee, IR). Newton's rushing score came on a run-pass option on which the defense focused on the running back, freeing up Cam for a 24-yard touchdown scamper. He matched Christian McCaffrey with ten rushing attempts on the day. A last-minute comeback attempt was squelched when the Carolina offense was bogged down at midfield; Newton was sacked on fourth and three to end the game. Newton's rushing upside should make him an every-week fantasy play in 12-team leagues. Cam's Week 12 game against a solid Miami defense will be a much bigger test than his Week 11 matchup.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Sunday, 1:08 pm

  • Zach Wilson inactive as expected in Week 11
Jets declared OL Isaiah Williams, RB La'Mical Perine, QB Zach Wilson, DL Jonathan Marshall, DL Tim Ward, S Jarrod Wilson, and CB Rachad Wildgoose inactive for Week 11 against the Dolphins.

Advice: Wilson hasn't played since suffering a knee injury against the Patriots in Week 7. Jets coach Robert Saleh has said his main focus is on getting Wilson his confidence back before throwing him back into game action. Joe Flacco will start against the Dolphins after Mike White threw four interceptions in Week 10. NBCSportsEDGE.com Sunday, 8:34 am

  • Roethlisberger (COVID) cleared for Week 11 return
Ben Roethlisberger (reserve/COVID-19) has been cleared to play in Week 11 against the Chargers.

Advice: Roethlisberger won't travel with the team but has been activated ahead of Sunday night. This wasn't a lock with Roethlisberger testing positive last Saturday and having eight days to get cleared. Roethlisberger took part in virtual meetings this week despite not practicing and is expected to start. The Steelers’ passing offense struggled with Mason Rudolph under center in Week 10's tie with the Lions, averaging under five yards per pass play. Roethlisberger's return likely means fewer carries for Najee Harris but upgrades Diontae Johnson's matchup. • Cam to start, Walker will 'probably' play vs. WFT
Panthers head coach Matt Rhule said Cam Newton will "take the first snap" against Washington in Week 11, and P.J. Walker will "probably" play.

Advice: Cam was fully expected to draw the start against the Football Team, but Walker being worked into the Carolina offense was not expected. Newton should maintain the high-value snaps and touches, especially near the end zone. It's unclear what Walker does better than Newton, though Newton is still new to the team and perhaps unfamiliar with the nuances of the offensive system. Newton is a fine QB2 option based on his rushing potential.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Friday, 10:07 am

  • Saleh: Zach Wilson's knee is structurally fine
Jets head coach Robert Saleh said Zach Wilson's knee is structurally OK.

Advice: "It's confidence more than anything," Saleh said when asked about Wilson's possible return to the starting lineup. Saleh, who will start Joe Flacco at QB this week against Miami, has said the team's quarterback situation would resolve itself "organically." Part of that, apparently, is Wilson gaining confidence that his injured knee will hold up in game action. He should return sometime this month or next to finish an underwhelming rookie campaign.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Friday, 8:13 am

  • Mac Jones game manages lame-duck Falcons on TNF
Mac Jones completed 22-of-26 passes for 207 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in New England's 25-0 Week 11 win over Atlanta.

Advice: Jones' touchdown came on a pass where the entirety of the Atlanta defense vacated coverage responsibilities of Nelson Agholor over the middle. Jones took two big sacks in Atlanta territory that really hurt New England's chances of putting the game completely out of reach, but otherwise continued to keep up the numbers and winning that have bolstered his reputation over the first 11 games of his career. Week 12 will bring a game Titans secondary to town, and Jones likely won't be a recommended start in fantasy leagues.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Thursday, 8:51 pm

  • Cordarrelle Patterson inactive for TNF vs. Pats
Cordarrelle Patterson (ankle) is inactive for Week 11 against the Patriots.

Advice: A true game-time decision, the assembled media thought Patterson appeared in decent shape during pre-game warmups, but he could not gain final clearance on the short week. It is a calamity for the Falcons' direly-undermanned skill corps, one that will now be forced to go with Russell Gage as its No. 2 pass catcher and Mike Davis and Wayne Gallman as its backfield duo. It is going to be a long, long night vs. the Patriots' elite defense. The only good news is that Patterson would appear to be in decent shape to return for Week 12 vs. Jacksonville. Joining Patterson on the sideline will be WR Christian Blake, CB Kendall Sheffield, S Jaylinn Hawkins, DL John Cominsky, DL Marlon Davidson and DL Tyeler Davison. NBCSportsEDGE.com Thursday, 3:52 pm

  • Zach Wilson (knee) limited again on Thursday
Zach Wilson (knee) remained limited in Thursday's practice.

Advice: Joe Flacco will start for the Jets in Week 11. It appears that Wilson could be healthy enough to start playing soon, but obviously with how the results have gone for Wilson, the Jets are not pushing him to get back on the field. Managers with the Dolphins D/ST have to be furious.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Thursday, 1:14 pm

  • Tua Tagovailoa (finger) practices in full Thursday
Tua Tagovailoa (finger) practiced in full on Thursday.

Advice: It's notable because it's the first full practice Tagovailoa has participated in since injuring the finger before Week 9. Tua has a dream matchup against a Jets defense that has been in shambles all month and the Miami running game has been non-existent for the last few weeks. He's probably in the streaming discussion for a fantasy manager with Matthew Stafford on bye.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Thursday, 1:10 pm

  • Roethlisberger (COVID-19) preparing to play
Speaking Thursday, Steelers OC Matt Canada told reporters that Ben Roethlisberger (reserve/COVID-19 list) is preparing like he's going to play.

Advice: The drumbeat around Pittsburgh is that there's little doubt that Roethlisberger will play if he clears COVID protocols, but he's now been on the list for five days and still needs two negative tests to return. Roethlisberger may be running out of days to keep Mason Rudolph off the field. If Rudolph plays it will be a healthy bump for the Chargers D/ST.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Thursday, 11:25 am

  • 'Uphill battle' for Cordarrelle Patterson to play
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport suggested it "seems like an uphiil battle" for Cordarrelle Patterson (ankle sprain) to play in Week 11 against the Patriots.

Advice: "It sounds like he was very, very limited in practice," Rapoport said on Patterson's participation throughout the week. Considered a true game-time decision for Thursday night, Patterson's pending absence would open the door for Wayne Gallman to be used in a touchdown-or-bust role on early downs alongside Mike Davis. It's possible Atlanta's offense, bereft of talent around Kyle PItts, simply craters without Patterson available. NBCSportsEDGE.com Thursday, 9:44 am

  • Zach Wilson (knee) limited on Wednesday
Zach Wilson (knee) got in a limited practice Wednesday.

Advice: Wilson also practiced last week, even getting in a full session on Friday, but was inactive against the BIlls. With Joe Flacco already named the starter for this week, it seems like Wilson is headed down a similar path this week.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Thursday, 7:41 am
