  • Report: Kaepernick will void deal, become FA
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Colin Kaepernick will void his contract after the season to become a free agent.

Advice: Rapoport added voiding the deal would not "rule out a return" to the 49ers next season. Kaepernick is set to make $14.5 million in base salary if he sticks around in San Francisco next season, and even after a strong finish, it is unlikely he would get much more than the $7.5 million per year Robert Griffin III landed from the Browns on the open market. Perhaps he is so ready to get away from the 49ers he will take his chances, but this is more likely a negotiating ploy. Rotoworld.com 57 minutes ago

Geno Smith (knee) expects to be ready for training camp.

Advice: "I’ll be full go during camp next year," said Smith. "Other than that, just taking it week by week. No need to rush it." An impending free agent, Smith will be eight months removed from surgery in July. With Bryce Petty and Christian Hackenberg under contract, Smith will likely be playing for a different team in 2017. • Broncos to start Paxton Lynch against Jaguars
The Broncos will start rookie Paxton Lynch at quarterback in Week 13.

Advice: The talented Jaguars pass defense has been tough on quarterbacks this season, allowing just one opposing signal caller to top 280 yards against them on the year. Lynch struggled against a weaker pass defense at home against Atlanta in Week 5, managing 223 yards on 35 attempts with one touchdown and one pick. He took six sacks behind a sub-par Broncos offensive line. Lynch will be a low-end two-quarterback-league play in Jacksonville. Rotoworld.com Friday, 10:25 am

  • Broncos rule out Trevor Siemian for Week 13
Trevor Siemian (foot) didn't practice Friday and is out for Week 13 against the Jaguars.

Advice: While the Broncos have said Siemian could play without practicing, it's clear he has a significant injury and won't be playing against the Jags. It's a shame as Siemian is coming off his best game of the season. He's dealing with a sprained left foot and it's unclear how long the injury will linger. Colts waived QB Stephen Morris.

Advice: The Colts needed to clear a roster spot for Trent Cole (back), who was activated from injured reserve on Thursday. • Siemian, still in boot, considered day to day
Trevor Siemian (left foot) remains in a walking boot, and is considered day to day after missing Wednesday and Thursday's practices.

Advice: At this point, Siemian is looking unlikely to suit up against the Jaguars, even though coach Gary Kubiak has claimed he could play without practicing. It's an across-the-board downgrade for Denver's offense. With the way things are trending, we should get official word on Siemian's status by Friday. He'll either practice or he won't. • Jay Cutler to have season-ending surgery
Jay Cutler will undergo season-ending shoulder surgery on Saturday.

Advice: Cutler is believed to have a torn labrum in his right shoulder. He'll finish 2016 with 1,059 yards, four touchdowns and five interceptions over five appearances. There's a high-percentage chance Cutler has played his final down as a Bear. Trevor Siemian (foot) remained sidelined Thursday.

Advice: The Broncos have already said Siemian could play without practicing, but the situation is officially a concern. Speaking Thursday, Jets OC Chan Gaily called No. 4 QB Christian Hackenberg a "developmental player."

Advice: "There's a lot of talent there," Gailey claimed. "The sky's the limit. Still don't know." If the Jets truly believed the sky was the limit for the No. 51 overall pick, they would have already thrown him out there. Ryan Fitzpatrick is a failed state, Geno Smith is injured and Bryce Petty is not a legit NFLer. Hack seems on his way to joining Petty, which of course would surprise no one who watched his college film. The Jets have been straight up giving away draft picks the past few years. Advice: "Trevor is very bright. He's on top of what we're doing," Kubiak said. "That's not an issue at all." Paxton Lynch said he will be "more comfortable" than he was in his first NFL start if he is forced to fill in for Trevor Siemian (foot) this week.

Advice: Siemian is dealing with a left foot sprain and was in a boot Wednesday. It is possible he makes it back this week, but the Broncos will certainly get Lynch ready to go. NFL Network's Mike Garofolo expects Robert Griffin III to keep the starting job for the rest of the season if he's named Week 14 starter.

Advice: The Browns are on bye this week, giving them an extended period to plot the final quarter of their lost campaign. Griffin attempted 26 passes as a Brown before getting injured. • Bills signing Logan Thomas after move to TE
Bills signed TE Logan Thomas off the Lions' practice squad.

Advice: Thomas just signed with the Lions' taxi squad on Monday. You could say the Bills are stealing their thunder. Per Schrager, the Bills were "inspired" by Terrelle Pryor's position switch. Thomas is certainly an interesting size/speed prospect at 6-foot-6, 248 pounds with 4.61 wheels. Despite Pryor's success, most of these kinds of position shifts fail. Cody Kessler (concussion) has also resumed practicing and will compete with Griffin III and Josh McCown for the starting job. Browns coach Hue Jackson said Robert Griffin III (shoulder, injured reserve) could be cleared for contact this week.

Advice: Griffin has one more test to pass, and it will be conducted this week. If Griffin is able to get cleared, it would not be surprising if he starts Week 14 against the Bengals, but Jackson thinks it is too early to make that decision. "He has not played football now in a while," Jackson said. "I am sure he has to get the rust off a little bit, but hopefully, we will see where he is, and if they clear him for contact, then we will know more as we move forward." • Wentz gets little help in MNF loss to Packers
Carson Wentz completed 24-of-36 passes for 254 yards, no touchdowns, and one interception in the Eagles' Week 12 loss to the Packers.

Advice: He was able to help fantasy owners some with four rushes for 33 yards and one touchdown on the ground. His touchdown run was super impressive on the Eagles' first series, diving head-first into the end zone to answer the Packers' opening score. But Wentz got very little help from his supporting cast, especially after Jordan Matthews left in the second quarter with an ankle injury. Wentz was left with Dorial Green-Beckham and Bryce Treggs out wide. Wentz was under serious pressure in the second half as well, taking four sacks in total. If Matthews misses any time, this offense doesn't stand much of a chance to score points. The Eagles will be on a short week making a road trip to face the down-and-out Bengals in Week 13. Alex Smith completed 26-of-44 passes for 220 yards and a touchdown in Kansas City's Week 12 overtime win over the Broncos.

Advice: It was a signature game from Smith, who averaged 5.0 YPA. Smith struggled to get anything going before leading the Chiefs to a game-tying touchdown drive on a three-yard pass to Tyreek Hill. He managed Kansas City to a win in overtime behind two field goals. Smith's running game continued to be a non-factor. He'll be a back-end QB2 for Week 13. Rotoworld.com Nov 27, 9:45 pm

Advice: Siemian struggled early, leading the Broncos to a field goal and taking three sacks from Justin Houston. He turned it around in the second half, hitting on two deep touchdowns and a red-zone score. Denver’s pass protection was shaky all night, but Siemian made some nice plays outside the pocket, rushing for a season-high 23 yards on five carries. • Jared Goff good for one half in loss to Saints
Jared Goff completed 20-of-32 passes for 214 yards with three touchdowns, one interception and a lost fumble Sunday in the Rams' Week 12 loss to the Saints.

Advice: He was sacked three times for a loss of 36 yards. It was a tale of two halves for Goff. The rookie signal-caller got off to a hot start, completing a 31-yard pass to Todd Gurley on his first pass and later capping the Rams’ opening drive with a 21-yard touchdown strike to Tavon Austin. He also connected on touchdown passes to Lance Kendricks and Kenny Britt before halftime, though he did lose a fumble on his own 10-yard line on a strip sack by Sheldon Rankins. Overall it was a great first half for Goff. He melted down after halftime, however, throwing an interception on an ill-advised pass to Kendricks and taking a pair of bad sacks. Goff looked most comfortable in the shotgun and was at his best when he looked to his second and third reads. The first overall pick has a favorable matchup against New England’s overrated defense in Week 13. Rotoworld.com Nov 27, 2:40 pm

Andy Dalton completed 26-of-48 passes for 283 yards and a touchdown in the Bengals' Week 13 loss to the Ravens.

Advice: He also fumbled four times, losing two. Bengals OC Ken Zampese understandably abandoned a running game that wasn't working, but the results were not positive by resorting to the air. Cincinnati is simply short on passing-game talent at this point, missing both A.J. Green (hamstring) and Gio Bernard (ACL) after losing Mohamed Sanu and Marvin Jones in the offseason. Matt Barkley completed 28-of-54 passes for 316 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions in Sunday's Week 12 loss to the Titans.

Advice: Barkley struggled early with two red-zone picks. He padded stats in the second half, throwing two of his three touchdowns in the fourth quarter. It could have been a bigger game, but Barkley had a game-winning TD dropped on the final drive. Barkley looked shaky and doesn't have a supporting cast outside of Jordan Howard. Advice: The 49ers trailed all afternoon, but this wasn't really a garbage time situation. It was Kap keeping his team in a winnable game on the road. The game nearly went to overtime, but Kap got stopped at the two-yard line as time expired. Kap and the Niners really burned the Dolphins with the read option. The 113 rushing yards were the fourth most of Kap's career (including the playoffs), and give him 373 on the year. Kap has been toeing the line between "fantasy good" and actually good. • Rapsheet: Bears may keep Cutler in 2017
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, it's "far from a sure thing" that the Bears will move on from Jay Cutler this offseason.

Advice: The general consensus is that Cutler will be released after the season, which wouldn't be hard to do because all the guaranteed money from his seven-year extension has already been paid out. However, the Bears may not be able to find a better alternative in the draft with this year's class of quarterbacks considered to be unusually weak. Cutler will carry a $12.5 million base salary in 2017, which is fairly reasonable for a starting quarterback. Brian Hoyer outplayed Cutler before he got hurt, but he's likely to be a free agent casualty. Rapoport notes that coach John Fox is not Cutler's "biggest fan," though it's unclear if that will factor into the team's decision to keep him for next season. Rotoworld.com Nov 27, 6:27 am

Jared Goff believes he will be allowed to push the ball downfield more this week against the Saints.

Advice: Goff attempted just five passes of more than 10 yards in his first NFL start, and the majority of those came with the Rams trailing very late in the game. • Teams scheming to take away Alex Smith's legs
Chiefs co-OC Brad Childress said teams have schemed to take away Alex Smith's rushing ability this season.

Advice: "I think they’ve done a nice job of closing up some of those rush lanes," Childress said. "In a couple of cases there’s been somebody standing on the other side accounting for him … we haven’t seen as many of those giant creases." After rushing for 498 yards last season, Smith is on pace for just 90 this year. The lack of rushing has put a damper on his already minimal fantasy upside, but he has rushed for more than 10 yards the last two games and scored a touchdown last week. The upward trend could continue this week in Denver against a Broncos defense which has given up the fifth-most rushing yards to quarterbacks this season, but Smith is still not worth using in any format.
