    • Aiyuk ā€˜for sureā€™ wants to play for the 49ers
Brandon Aiyuk said he ā€œfor sureā€ wants to play for the 49ers this season.

Advice: This comes after Aiyuk was spotted by TMZ Sports at Los Angeles International Airport on Friday. While we wouldnā€™t read too much into this, we know Aiyuk has attempted to reach an extension with the 49ers this offseason, and he said earlier on The Pivot podcast that he thinks he will play ā€œa Niner uniformā€ in 2024 if he ā€œwere to take a guess.ā€ The offseason saga between Aiyuk and the 49ers continues to be the biggest one in the league as teams prepare for training camp next month. After the star receiver opted to skip OTAs and minicamp this offseason, itā€™s possible heā€™ll become a training camp holdout if an extension isnā€™t reached by the time players report. • Aiyuk: Likely to play in ā€˜a Niner uniformā€™ in 2024
Speaking on The Pivot podcast, Brandon Aiyuk said, ā€œIf I were to take a guess, probably a Niner uniform,ā€ when asked about what uniform he thinks heā€™ll be wearing in 2024.

Advice: Aiyuk also added that he would be and playing with his close friend Jayden Daniels if the negotiations with the 49ers donā€™t go as he hopes. The fifth-year receiver is hoping to land a long-term extension with the 49ers before the start of the season but is willing to sign an extension elsewhere if the 49ers were to trade him. Aiyuk totaled 75 catches for 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns last season and is reportedly eyeing a deal similar to the one Amon-Ra St. Brown received earlier this offseason. St. Brown will earn nearly $28 million on his new deal with the Lions, putting him amongst the highest-paid receivers in the league. Barring a surprise trade, it sounds like Aiyuk will play at least one more season with the 49ers as they look to capitalize on their current Super Bowl window. Lombardi also pointed out that if Aiyuk were to be traded, it would be to a destination determined by the 49ers, not Aiyuk. Rotoworld Friday, 2:17 pm

    • Puka Nacua mirroring Cooper Kuppā€™s offseason
Rams WR Puka Nacua is training alongside WR Cooper Kupp this offseason.

Advice: NFL.comā€™s Nick Shook reports that Nacua trained alongside Kupp this offseason. Rams wide receivers coach Eric Yarber said ā€œHe looks just like Cooper. Heā€™s lost so much body fat and gained so muscle, which enabled him to move more efficiently now.ā€ Nacua adjusted his diet and lost roughly 10 pounds, gaining better control of his body. Though he already had a record-setting rookie year, Nacua has worked to take the next step in his game, with help from Kupp. Rotoworld Thursday, 5:15 pm

    • Aims to make Year 2 leap
Rams wide receiver coach Eric Yarber said Nacua's "body is totally different" due to his training regiment this offseason, Nick Shook of NFL.com reports.

Advice: Nacua is coming off a stellar rookie campaign in which he racked up a 105-1,486-6 receiving line while suiting up for all 17 regular-season games, and he's putting in the offseason work to improve rather than resting on his laurels. Yarber said "[Nucua has] lost so much body fat and gained so much lean muscle, which enabled him to move more efficiently now," and that "he has better body control" entering Year 2. Nucua has reportedly dropped about 10 pounds over the offseason and shadowed Cooper Kupp, his positional mate and former Offensive Player of the Year, both in terms of training regimen and diet. Kupp was plagued by injuries even while on the field last season and should stands to demand a larger offensive share during the 2024 campaign, but Nucua looks to have already emerged as the new No. 1 wide receiver for Los Angeles. Coach Sean McVay's offense could be efficient enough for both wideouts to improve upon their production. Rotowire.com Thursday, 2:39 pm

    • Meeting with Niners goes well
Aiyuk and the 49ers had a meeting Monday that Tom Pelissero of NFL Network described as "good," and both sides are continuing to work toward a contract extension, Grant Gordon of NFL.com reports.

Advice: Aiyuk, who held out of mandatory minicamp earlier this month, requested a meeting with San Francisco roughly one week after posting a video in which he told Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels, whom he played with at Arizona State, that the 49ers "said they don't want me back," per Nick Wagoner of ESPN. It seems things have landed in a more amicable place following Monday's most recent meeting, though there still aren't any signs that an agreement on a new contract is immediately around the corner. As it stands, Aiyuk remains in line to play under the fifth-year option on his rookie contract for $14.12 million for 2025, but if that doesn't change by the start of training camp tensions could come to a head, especially if he continues to hold out. The 26-year-old is coming off back-to-back 1,000-yard receiving campaigns and has been one of the most efficient wide receivers in the league in Kyle Shanahan offenses. • Aiyuk and 49ers scheduled to meet with one another
Speaking on NFL Live, Ryan Clark reported that Brandon Aiyuk and the 49ers were scheduled to meet with one another on Monday.

Advice: According to Clark, this is a meeting . He also added that Aiyuk has taken contract negotiations with the team as ā€œpersonalā€ over the last several months. Aiyuk posted a video to his social media account last week of him telling Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels that the 49ers ā€œsaid they donā€™t want me anymore.ā€ The team when it was reported they still wanted Aiyuk, but not at the price he is asking for. At this time, Aiyuk is set to play out 2024 under the franchise tag, where heā€™ll earn roughly $14 million. The veteran receiver caught 75 passes for 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns last season and could likely get signed to his desired contract by another team if the 49ers were open to dealing him. Clark said Aiyuk would prefer to remain with the team but is open to playing elsewhere if the team opts to trade him. We expect to know more about this situation in the near future.
