    • Brandon Aiyuk holding out of minicamp
49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk is not present at the start of mandatory minicamp.

Advice: With top receivers getting paid this offseason, Aiyuk is now holding out to get his own top-of-the-market contract. It was previously reported that he was looking for a contract extension similar to the one Amon-Ra St. Brown received. Aiyuk is set to earn just over $14 million on his fifth-year option, but he is looking for long-term security. With Justin Jefferson just getting paid after Devonta Smith, Jaylen Waddle, and others signed new contracts this offseason, Aiyuk could see a deal in the ballpark of the $28-$30 million per year that Waddle and St. Brown received. As NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport notes, the next potential holdout for Aiyuk will be training camp. Rotoworld Tuesday, 4:46 pm

    • Holding out from minicamp
Aiyuk is not present at 49ers' minicamp this week as he seeks a new contract, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Advice: This was expected after Aiyuk didn't report for voluntary OTAs following an offseason full of trade speculation. The wideout ultimately wasn't traded, and the two sides have reportedly engaged in dialogue regarding a new deal, though nothing has seemed to advance further than the talking stage. Aiyuk is scheduled for a $14.124 million salary in 2024, the final year of his rookie deal. He's one of the many receivers around the league set to be paid handsomely, although it's unclear if San Francisco will ultimately be the team signing the checks. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 11:12 am

    • Signing four-year extension
Jefferson reached agreement with the Vikings on Monday on a four-year contract extension, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Advice: Schefter and Ian Rapoport of NFL Network both report Jefferson's deal as a four-year, $140 million contract with $110 million guaranteed, giving the wideout the new record for average annual value ($35 million) among non-quarterbacks. He'll turn 25 years old later this month and already has 5,899 career receiving yards, with his average of 98.3 per game easily being the all-time record (Calvin Johnson is second at 86.1). Jefferson will enter the 2024 season without Kirk Cousins as his quarterback for the first time, instead catching passes from 10th overall pick J.J. McCarthy and/or Sam Darnold. • Vikings give Justin Jefferson $140M extension
Vikings signed Justin Jefferson to a four-year, $140 million contract extension.

Advice: Jefferson is now the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history. His $140 million extension includes $110 million in guaranteed money and an AAV of $35 million. Jefferson, 24, has arguably been the best receiver in the league since being drafted No. 22 overall in 2020, racking up 392 receptions for 5,899 yards and 30 touchdowns over his first four seasons. His 5,899 yards are the most by any receiver in league history through their first four seasons, and he’s one of just five receivers to surpass 5,000 yards over that same span. Jefferson is now under contract through 2028 and will be in line for another lucrative deal after his age-29 season. His deal all but sets the market for guys like Ja’Marr Chase, CeeDee Lamb, and Tee Higgins, who are also in search of new deals from their respective teams. Rotoworld Monday, 6:20 am
