  • Daboll: Singletary knows offense ā€˜inside and outā€™
    Giants head coach Brian Daboll said RB Devin Singletary ā€œknows the offense inside and out.ā€

    Advice: Singletary, who signed with the Giants on a surprisingly pricey three-year deal worth $16.5 million, was in Dabollā€™s offense in Buffalo before Daboll left for the Giantsā€™ head coaching job. Understanding the intricacies of an offense is often crucial in a running back earning a lead back role. In Houston last season, Singletary was 13th in evasion rate and ninth in yards before contact per rush. He had the third most rush yards over the second half of the season.   • Christian McCaffrey signs extension with 49ers
    ESPNā€™s Adam Schefter reports the 49ers have re-signed Christian McCaffrey to a two-year extension averaging $19 million per season.

    Advice: This is a surprise to no one as the soon-to-be 28-year old McCaffrey has continued to pace the running back position in the NFL. The deal includes $24 million guaranteed over the next two seasons and includes an additional $8 million on what he was scheduled to make in the first two years. McCaffrey is coming off a season in which he won Offensive Player of the Year while earning his first rushing title. He was set to be a free agent after the 2025 season, so this ensures the 49ers will have their guy for the future.   • Lands two-year, $38M extension
    The 49ers signed McCaffrey to a two-year, $38 million contract extension Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

    Advice: CMC's existing deal was set to run through 2025, and he's getting an additional $8 million up front before this two-year extension kicks in to keep him under contract through 2027. The $19 million annual average makes McCaffrey the NFL's highest-paid running back, a distinction he'd already held at just over $16 million per year. This further sets him apart from Alvin Kamara ($15 million) and Jonathan Taylor ($14 million) at the top of the position. McCaffrey was named the AP Offensive Player of the Year last season and was third in MVP voting after finishing with 2,023 scrimmage yards and 21 touchdowns across 16 regular-season contests.   • Eberflus: Dā€™Andre Swift is ā€˜a weapon backā€™
    Bears HC Matt Eberflus said he sees Dā€™Andre Swift as ā€œa weapon backā€ for the offense.

    Advice: Eberflus seems high on Swiftā€™s ability to play on any down and distance, saying Swift was somebody they needed to ā€œoperate on third down and even on first or second down and be a weapon in the deep part of the field and the short part of the field and take it the distance.ā€ Eberflus also mentioned the possibility of splitting Swift out wide, noting that he can ā€œrun the full route tree.ā€ Swift is in an offense that appears chock full of playmakers, with DJ Moore, Keenan Allen, and Rome Odunze all expected to see significant work in the passing game, but the Bearsā€™ commitment to Swift (three-year, $24 million contract) suggests heā€™ll see plenty of work as the teamā€™s lead back. Heā€™s not expected to be a complete workhorse, as Khalil Herbert and Roschon Johnson are also expected to see touches, but for a guy currently going as a low-end RB2 in fantasy drafts, thereā€™s a good chance Swift out-performs his ADP it what should be a much-improved Bears offense.     Waddle signed a three-year, $84.75 million contract extension with the Dolphins on Thursday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. The deal includes $76 million guaranteed.

    Advice: Waddle is now one of the top five highest-paid receivers in the NFL with an annual salary of $28.25 million. The 2021 first-round pick has been dominant since entering the league, ripping off three straight seasons with 1,000-plus yards, including a 2022 campaign where he produced 1,356 yards and eight touchdowns across 17 regular-season games. The 25-year-old battled injuries last season but is fully healthy ahead of the 2024 campaign.     Dolphins signed Jaylen Waddle to a three-year, $84.75 million extension.

    Advice: Per ESPNā€™s Adam Schefter, Waddleā€™s deal includes $76 million in guaranteed money, as the star receiver is now under contract through 2028. Waddle has been one of the most productive receivers in the league since being drafted in 2021, tallying up 3,385 yards and 18 touchdowns through his first three seasons. Heā€™s managed to eclipse 1,000 yards in each of his first three seasons despite playing alongside Tyreek Hill for each of the last two years. Reaching a long-term deal with Waddle was a no-brainer for both sides, as the Dolphins get him under contract with two years still left on his rookie deal, and heā€™ll have a chance to earn another big deal after his age-30 season.
