• 49ers hope Aiyuk plays whole career with team
49ers GM John Lynch said, “Our wish is that [Brandon Aiyuk] is here for the rest of his career.”

Advice: Aiyuk continues to be the subject of offseason trade rumors as he prepares to head into the final year of his rookie contract. Set to earn just over $14 million on his fifth-year extension, Aiyuk, who totaled 75-1,342-7 last season, is looking for a long-term extension this offseason — whether it’s from the 49ers or someone else. Unfortunately, the 49ers are short on cap space and also on the verge of needing to extend Brock Purdy in the very near future. Any talks between the two sides as far as an extension is concerned have been kept under wraps, as we have little to go on as far as where they are in the process. The NFL Draft is just days away, so it’s possible those conversations will pick up after this week. Until we hear otherwise, Aiyuk could be a prime candidate for a holdout of a new deal isn’t in place by camp. This remains a wait-and-see situation. Rotoworld Monday, 12:03 pm

  • Traded to Denver
The Jets are trading Wilson to the Broncos for a late-round pick swap, Jeff Howe of The Athletic reports.

Advice: The Jets will give up the 256th pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and receive pick No. 203. They'll also hold some of Wilson's salary, with the 24-year-old scheduled for $5.45 million in guaranteed compensation for the final year of his rookie contract. This could give Wilson a shot to compete for a starting job, depending on what the Broncos do in the upcoming draft. Jarrett Stidham and Ben DiNucci are the other QBs on Denver's roster, with Stidham the favorite to start Week 1 if no early draft pick is added to the room. Rotowire.com Monday, 11:45 am

  • Let’s ride: Broncos acquire Zach Wilson from Jets
Jets traded QB Zach Wilson and a 2024 seventh round pick to the Broncos in exchange for a 2024 sixth-round pick.

Advice: The real story here may be the phenomenally down-bad quarterback room that is being constructed in Denver. Wilson joins the likes of Jarrett Stidham and Ben DiNucci in the Mile High City, forming a trio that’s sure to instill confidence in any defense they face in a given week. Of course, the Broncos are still expected to add a quarterback of note at some point in this week’s NFL Draft, but the optics are hilarious for the time being. Wilson, who was drafted by the Jets with the No. 2 overall pick in 2021, was given ample opportunities to succeed over the last three years but consistently fell well short of the mark for being even a passable NFL quarterback. For better or worse, head coach Robert Saleh stuck by Wilson until it was just no longer reasonable to do so. He was eventually benched in favor of Tim Boyle and Trevor Siemian after going 4-7 over 11 starts, spelling what would be the eventual end of his time in New York. Boasting a line of 6,293-23-25 over 34 career games, Wilson is officially a reclamation project who may not have more than a summer to prove to Sean Payton that he can contribute to an NFL franchise. According to The Athletics’ Dianna Russini, the Broncos had been eyeing a potential trade for Wilson for weeks, and they believe he still has The Jets will reportedly pay close to $2.75 million of Wilson’s salary for the upcoming season. • Likely to be suspended
Rice is likely facing a multi-game suspension for his involvement in a car crash in late March, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Advice: Rice left the scene of a six-car accident on a Dallas highway and now faces charges for aggravated assault, collision involving serious bodily injury and collision involving injury. While he figures to be suspended at some point, the NFL typically allows legal processes to play out before doling out league punishment, which means it's possible Rice is on the field come Week 1. • Schefter: Multi-game suspension expected for Rice
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Rashee Rice is expected to receive “at least a multi-game suspension” for his involvement in a car crash in March.

Advice: Rice is facing eight charges, including two felonies, after causing a six-car crash while racing his Lamborghini with another driver. He fled the scene after the accident. An arrest warrant was later issued for Rice. He turned himself in and posted bond shortly after. The legal process is slow and the NFL has to go through its own procedures before handing out a suspension, so it’s unclear if Rice will be suspended this year or in 2025 because of the incident. As Schefter noted, the uncertainty around his situation makes the Chiefs an obvious candidate to draft a wide receiver. They currently hold the last pick of the first round. Rotoworld Monday, 5:26 am

  • Returning to Houston
Ogunbowale re-signed with the Texans on a one-year deal Sunday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Advice: After stints in Washington, Tampa Bay and Jacksonville, Ogunbowale will enter his third straight season in Houston. Primarily used on offense as a third-down back, the journeyman tallied 53 total yards in 2023 while also notably converting on a 29-yard field goal attempt. He will presumably compete for the No. 3 spot on the running back depth chart behind Joe Mixon and Dameon Pierce. Rotowire.com Sunday, 8:32 am

  • Texans keep Dare Ogunbowale with one-year deal
Texans re-signed RB Dare Ogunbowale to a one-year contract.

Advice: A core special teamer and occasional third-down back, it doesn’t bode particularly well for 29-year-old Ogunbowale’s odds of keeping his 53-man roster spot that the Texans waited six weeks into free agency to re-sign him. Rotoworld Sunday, 8:15 am

  • Dak hasn’t had contract negotiations with Cowboys
Dak Prescott said he and the Cowboys have not begun negotiations for a new contract extension.

Advice: Prescott is in the final year of his current deal and is currently set to earn $55.455 million in 2024. While Prescott would be more than happy to take home that large sum of cash this season, his contract, as it stands right now, is leaving the Cowboys strapped for cash with extensions for other players — particularly CeeDee Lamb — coming down the line. Prescott said he doesn’t “necessarily” want to be the highest-paid quarterback in the league, and that he wants to do what’s best for the team. If he and the team are able to hammer out an extension, it would almost certainly lower his 2024 cap number and free the Cowboys up to get other deals done. Rotoworld Friday, 4:28 pm

  • ‘No news to report’ on Zach Wilson trade market
Jets GM Joe Douglas said there’s “just no news to report” regarding a potential trade of QB Zach Wilson.

Advice: The Jets are reportedly waiting for an acceptable offer for the former No. 2 overall pick but there’s presumably a significant delta between what the Jets consider acceptable vs. what the league considers. Wilson, who has been a regular participant in offseason activities over the last three years was noticeably absent from voluntary workouts this week. He was given permission to speak with other teams about a potential trade, but it doesn’t appear anything significant came from that. If Wilson isn’t traded, the Jets are reportedly ready to keep him for the upcoming season. Rotoworld Friday, 1:26 pm
