  • Trubisky has surgery on non-throwing shoulder
Mitchell Trubisky had surgery to repair a partially torn labrum in his shoulder.

Advice: The surgery took place earlier this month and was to his non-throwing shoulder. This may limit how much Trubisky can do at OTAs but he should be 100 percent for training camp. Trubisky declined across the board in 2019 and is entering a make-or-break season. Rotoworld.com Today, 9:23 am

  • Prescott 'confident' that deal will get done
Dak Prescott told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport he has "confidence" the Cowboys will extend him.

Advice: Extending Prescott is the Cowboys' top priority, but the sides have yet to get anything done. That's still fully expected to happen before the start of free agency, though it's possible Dallas may have to use the franchise tag on Prescott while working out a long-term deal. Prescott is going to command the $30-plus million annually that Russell Wilson and Carson Wentz got last offseason. Locking up Prescott will allow the Cowboys to turn their attention to re-signing Amari Cooper and Byron Jones. Rotoworld.com Today, 6:32 am

  • Report: Greg Olsen offered broadcasting job
The Athletic's Richard Deitsch reports that FOX Sports has "made it clear" it will hire Greg Olsen as an announcer if he decides to retire.

Advice: Olsen has already served as a guest analyst for FOX for several years, so it would be a natural transition for the soon-to-be 35-year-old. During his test gigs, Olsen has been much better in the booth than fellow tight end Jason Witten was on Monday Night Football. Olsen finally shook his persistent foot woes in 2019 but had his least productive season since 2011. He has strongly hinted that he is leaning toward retirement. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 1:27 pm

  • Glazer clarifies report on Rivers' future
Speaking Tuesday, FOX's Jay Glazer clarified his Monday comments on Philip Rivers, saying that while he believes Rivers will not be back with the team, he did not mean to officially report as such.

Advice: Basically, Glazer said he was taken out of context during his appearance on Colin Cowherd's show. Glazer is amongst the most error-free reporters in all of football, so he is worth taking at his word that it was not his intention to formally report that Rivers and the Bolts are done. ESPN's Eric Williams has also reported that "all options remain available" with regards to the Chargers and their longtime franchise player. Despite Glazer's clarification, all signs continue to point toward Rivers being done in Southern California. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 1:11 pm

  • Hunt: Mahomes deal might not come in 2020
Speaking Tuesday, Chiefs owner Clark Hunt said the team may not extend Patrick Mahomes until 2021.

Advice: Mahomes' rookie deal is first eligible to be extended this offseason. "There will be a right time sometime in the next 12-15 months to extend Patrick, and when I say right time, I mean right time for both the player and the club," Hunt said. "I don't want to say necessarily it has to be this offseason, but I will say that it's a priority to get him done." Mahomes is under team control for two more years, but there is not much incentive for the Chiefs to wait. Whenever the deal is done, Mahomes is going to become the highest-paid player in league history by a staggering margin. It would be better to get it out of the way sooner rather than later. Perhaps potential changes to the CBA are looming in Hunt's mind. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 11:38 am

  • Dolphins work out free agent RB Alex Collins
Dolphins worked out free agent RB Alex Collins.

Advice: The team also worked out Grey Cup winner CFL QB Chris Streveler. It's the first we've heard from Collins since his last workout with the Seahawks in December. Just two seasons removed from leading the Ravens in rushing with 973 yards, the Dolphins are arguably the best landing spot for Collins given their leniency on low-cost upside talent. • Brown freed from house arrest restrictions
Free agent WR Antonio Brown was freed from house arrest restrictions on Tuesday.

Advice: His $110,000 bail remains in place stemming from his arrest last week on charges of burglary with battery, burglary of an occupied conveyance and criminal mischief. He must also surrender his passport and submit to a mental health evaluation (along with random drug testing) while traveling freely around the country to fulfill contractual obligations. Outside of said obligations which have already been booked, it's doubtful Brown lands further opportunity elsewhere while awaiting trial. It would not be surprising if his playing days have come and gone altogether. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 9:10 am

  • Kittle has played with torn labrum since 2018
Speaking in a Monday podcast, George Kittle revealed that he has been playing with a torn labrum in his right shoulder since 2018.

Advice: Kittle said the injury occurred in a 2018 preseason game. He stated, "So I dislocated my shoulder last year ... and my labrum is completely torn. So I don’t get surgery on it — [The protective sleeve] basically helps me, so it doesn’t hurt all the time." Kittle added that there's "no chance" he gets surgery on the shoulder because "I can't miss those workout days, man." It sounds like Kittle is enough of a warrior to continue to play through the pain, though it would probably be in his best long-term interest to get the problem fixed one of these offseasons. • Kareem Hunt admitted he would fail drug test
In a police video of Kareem Hunt's Jan. 21 traffic stop obtained by TMZ Sports, Hunt admitted he would "fail an NFL drug test if one were administered to him at the time."

Advice: Emotional throughout a lengthy conversation with the officer who pulled him over, Hunt said he had been "fighting a lot of (stuff) lately," and that his release from the Chiefs "still hurts me to this day." Hunt eventually admitted that the marijuana in his vehicle was his, but the officer decided to let him off with only a speeding ticket. The officer was aware of Hunt's off-the-field history, at one point even bringing up the Ray Rice incident while reminding Hunt of his second chance. It is unclear if the NFL will take action. • Glazer: Chargers have 'moved on' from Rivers
Fox Sports' Jay Glazer reports the Chargers have "moved on from Philip Rivers."

Advice: The news isn't exactly shocking, as there's been buzz from numerous reporters about Rivers taking his talents elsewhere in 2020. The father of nine also recently moved to Florida, which matches rumors of a potential landing spot in Tampa Bay. It remains to be seen how many franchises will be lining up to land the 38-year-old QB, as Rivers turned the ball over on far too many occasions in 2019 and doesn't seem to have the same arm talent these days to consistently threaten opposing defenses down the field. Advice: Jackson led the AFC team to a 38-33 victory. He's the youngest quarterback to start in the Pro Bowl and now the youngest MVP. • Brees to take 'month or so' to ponder future
Impending free agent Drew Brees said he'll take "a month or so" before making a decision on his NFL future.

Advice: Brees will compete in Sunday's Pro Bowl in Orlando before taking a month to unwind. At that point, the 41-year-old should have a clearer idea of his NFL future. "I'll kind of lay low for a little bit, get away and then assess," said Brees, who posted a career-high 116.3 quarterback rating in 2019, his 19th NFL season and 14th in the Big Easy. "I kind of have a process in mind." If he does return for a 20th season, the NFL's all-time leader in both passing yards and touchdowns confirms he'd only play for the Saints. With Teddy Bridgewater and Taysom Hill both headed for free agency and Brees at least entertaining the idea of retirement, New Orleans could conceivably be looking at an entirely new quarterback room in 2020. • Kareem Hunt avoids marijuana charges
Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon-Journal confirms Kareem Hunt was pulled over and cited for a traffic violation Tuesday in Rocky River, Ohio.

Advice: Police discovered three "small amounts" of marijuana in the vehicle, which Hunt claimed belonged to his brother. Hunt, who was driving a car registered under his mother's name, was cited for speeding (he was clocked at 77 mph when the posted speed limit was 60) but avoided marijuana charges. Hunt can't afford any more slip-ups after the off-field scandal that led to his departure from Kansas City in 2018, though it doesn't sound like anything will come of this particular incident. If he can walk the straight and narrow, the former rushing champ should land a starting job when he enters free agency this offseason. Rotoworld.com Friday, 8:58 am

  • Antonio Brown granted $110,000 bond
Free agent WR Antonio Brown was granted $110,000 bond Friday morning following his arrest Thursday night on charges of burglary with battery, burglary of an occupied conveyance and criminal mischief.

Advice: He finally turned himself in to Hollywood, FL police after an arrest warrant was issued Wednesday. Brown spent the night in Broward County Jail but will be released once the paperwork is filed for his bail, likely either Friday or early Saturday. The charges stem from an alleged confrontation with the driver of a tractor-trailer moving truck at Brown's home earlier this week. Brown's trainer, Glen Holt, was arrested on one count of burglary with battery and later released on $20,000 bond. Per terms of his bond agreement, the former Steeler will be subject to GPS monitoring, drug and alcohol tests, a mental health evaluation and will also be required to surrender his passport and any guns in his possession. Recently dropped by mega-agent Drew Rosenhaus, the 31-year-old's life is unraveling before our eyes. At this point, we can probably stop referring to Brown as a "free agent" and simply call him a former NFL receiver because his playing days are assuredly over. Rotoworld.com Friday, 6:23 am

The police attempted to reach Brown at his house regarding the case, but Brown ran inside, locked the door, and refused to come out. Tonight, he changed his mind and turned himself in. Antonio Brown is expected to turn himself in to the Hollywood, Fla. police after a warrant was put out for his arrest on Tuesday.

Advice: Brown initially barricaded himself in his Hollywood home after the police issued a warrant for him on felony burglary and battery charges. • Drew Brees plans to re-sign with New Orleans
Speaking on his upcoming free agency, Drew Brees confirmed he has no plans to leave New Orleans.

Advice: "I've played with them 14 years," said Brees at Thursday's Pro Bowl festivities in Orlando. "It's not a matter of if it gets done but when." The 41-year-old admitted "at this stage" of his career it's not a "given that I'm coming back every year," though it does appear Brees will return for at least 2020. Already the NFL's all-time leader in both touchdowns and passing yards, Brees told NFL Network's Jane Slater he'll "always be a Saint." Brees would assuredly draw widespread interest on the open market, though it's hard to envision him leaving the Big Easy, especially after these comments. Rotoworld.com Thursday, 2:10 pm

  • Warrant issued for AB on battery and burglary
Hollywood, Fla. police have issued an arrest warrant for free agent Antonio Brown on felony burglary and battery charges.

Advice: It relates to a Tuesday incident outside of AB's house where a moving truck driver claims he was assaulted by Brown and his trainer, Glenn Holt. Holt was already arrested and posted $20,000 bond. Police have allegedly tried to contact AB multiple times, but he instead retreated inside his residence, barricading himself behind locked doors. Brown allegedly pelted the driver with a rock before then forcing his way into the truck, striking the individual, and then taking the items off the truck. • Saints have same outlook on Brees' contract
Saints GM Mickey Loomis said the organization's view on bringing Drew Brees back is "no different than it's been the last few years."

Advice: "It's easy to take him for granted yet I don't take him for granted," Loomis said. "Look, if any of us are surprised at what he does, then we're just not very smart." 41-year-old Brees finished with a league-high 74.3 percent completion rate last year, rebounding from a mid-season thumb injury to toss 24 touchdowns and seven picks over 11 games. New Orleans clearly sounds intent on letting Brees decide his own fate with the franchise, likely pinning him under center in the Superdome in 2020. Antonio Brown has locked himself inside his own house in response to his Hollywood, Florida battery investigation.

Advice: Brown is a suspect in a battery investigation involving a moving truck worker. Public information officer Christian Lata told reporters that attempts to contact Brown have been unsuccessful because Brown has "locked himself in his house." • 'A lot of buzz' about Rivers landing in Tampa
CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports there's "a lot of buzz" about Tampa Bay being a possible landing spot for Philip Rivers.

Advice: Rivers recently packed up his home in San Diego and moved cross country to Florida to be closer to his family (in Alabama). That doesn't necessarily make the Bucs his first choice, but the declining 38-year-old impending free agent will undoubtedly have fewer options than past years following his fewest touchdowns thrown (23) since 2007. Rivers isn't the worst one-year stopgap if Tampa Bay fails to iron out a deal with Jameis Winston. George Kittle posted a 19-yard reception on his lone target in the 49ers' NFC Championship Game victory over the Packers.

Advice: Reduced to run blocking for the 49ers' dominant ground game this postseason, Kittle will head into Super Bowl LIV with just four catches for 35 yards across two playoff appearances. He should be needed for more against a Chiefs defense that coughed up the 11th most tight end fantasy points this season, though perhaps the 49ers' running game is simply too locked in. Patrick Mahomes completed 23-of-35 passes for 294 yards and three touchdowns, adding eight scrambles for 53 yards and a rushing score in Kansas City's Conference Championship victory over the Titans.

Advice: Trailing 17-7 through the first quarter, Kansas City and Mahomes miraculously rattled off three consecutive scores drives to take a commanding 21-17 lead into the half. The team would inevitably score 28 unanswered points, including a 27-yard touchdown scramble where Mahomes seemingly tightroped the left sideline while averting spying LB Rashaan Evans and dashing ahead to gift the Chiefs their first-half lead. In all, Mahomes and the Chiefs' O finished the afternoon with scoring drives of 88, 86, 74, 73, and 63 yards, seeing both Tyreek Hill (5/67/2) and Sammy Watkins (7/114/1) get loose over the top of Tennessee's secondary. If there's a way to stop the Chiefs' aerial attack, both the Texans and Titans didn't unveil the blueprint.
