• Giants add Clayton Thorson to practice squad
Giants signed QB Clayton Thorson to their practice squad.

Advice: The Giants made another quarterback move with Daniel Jones (neck) and Mike Glennon (concussion protocol) looking dicey for Week 14. Jake Fromm could be in line to start for New York if both Jones and Glennon can't play. Thorson spent part of last year with the Giants and knows the system as a result. • McVay: Good to get 'rhythm runner' Michel going
Rams coach Sean McVay said it's really good to get "rhythm runner" Sony Michel involved, but he stopped short of calling him the lead back and said Darrell Henderson is a big part of the offense.

Advice: This is a difficult quote to interpret because Michel played well in Week 13 and McVay conceded that he will remain involved, but the Rams' coach also pivoted back to Darrell Henderson when asked whether Michel would be the lead back moving forward. Once fully healthy, Henderson is likely still the RB1 despite the fact that he was struggling before his injury, but expect both Rams backs to be involved on a weekly basis. • Keenan Allen is vaccinated, could play Sunday
NFL Network's Taylor Bisciotti reports that Chargers WR Keenan Allen is vaccinated.

Advice: This means Allen could play Sunday if he records two negative tests at least 24 hours apart. However, it also means Allen tested positive for COVID-19 since vaccinated players cannot be close contacts, so it still seems more likely than not that he sits for Week 14. With that being said, fantasy managers will need to monitor news throughout the week to see whether Allen can clear protocols in time. NBCSportsEDGE.com Today, 4:31 pm

Browns placed TE David Njoku on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Advice: Njoku's absence would be a slight bump for Austin Hooper and Harrison Bryant against a Baltimore defense allowing a league-high target share to tight ends. Cleveland tight ends combined for six receptions on 11 targets in the team's Week 12 loss to the Ravens. Hooper would have some streaming appeal if Njoku is out.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Today, 9:59 am

Advice: Nagy emphasized that that team was “never going to put [Fields] at risk medically” as he recovers from a rib injury he suffered in Week 11. He's missed two games and could miss a third in Week 14 against Green Bay. Nagy said Fields' pain tolerance would be a factor in determining his status against the Packers. • Kyle Shanahan 'hoping' Deebo is back for Week 14
49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said he's "hoping" Deebo Samuel (groin) can play Week 14 against the Bengals.

Advice: Big same, Kyle, Deebo drafters said. Samuel missed the team's Week 13 loss to the Seahawks with a groin injury, one of several soft tissue injuries that have plagued Samuel since the start of the 2020 season. Unless he's able to get in a limited practice on Thursday or Friday, Samuel will have little chance of suiting up against Cincinnati. The Niners offense isn't nearly as potent without their centerpiece, though Samuel's absence should continue to open up targets for George Kittle and Brandon Aiyuk. • Cole Beasley catches 11-yard pass in MNF loss
Cole Beasley caught 1-of-3 targets for 11 yards in the Bills' Week 13 loss to the Patriots.

Advice: Beasley's three targets tied Zack Moss for fifth on the team, good enough for just 10% of the share on a night Josh Allen attempted only 30 passes. Beasley hasn't scored since before the Week 7 bye and has 46 yards or less in five straight games. He and Emmanuel Sanders appear to be falling behind guys like Dawson Knox and Gabriel Davis as the secondary options to Stefon Diggs. Advice: Breida muffed a handoff from Josh Allen in the first half, leading to a turnover, and barely, if ever, saw the field again. Chargers placed Keenan Allen on reserve/COVID-19 list.

Advice: If Allen is vaccinated, he can rejoin the team after returning two negative COVID tests 24 hours apart. Players have typically missed one game after being placed on the COVID list, although Allen does have nearly a full week to get his negative results. Chargers coach Brandon Staley called Allen "day-to-day." If he does miss the Chargers' Week 14 game against the Giants, Mike Williams would likely be in for a heavy dose of targets. Advice: Claypool has been dealing with a bad case of turf toe for roughly a month. He missed one game because of it but logged snap shares over 90 percent in Weeks 11 and 12. That was dialed back to 63 percent last week, possibly indicating that the issue is getting worse. The 39-year-old has been listed with the same pair of injuries in the previous two weeks of practice reports and has yet to miss any playing time. He did not practice last Wednesday either. • PIT to run Ben-centric offense down the stretch?
The Athletic's Mark Kaboly said the Steelers should operate a pass-heavy offense for the remainder of the season.

Advice: Gone are the days of Steelers beat writers pining for an ultra-run heavy Pittsburgh offense that would somehow mask Roethlisberger's deficiencies. Najee Harris has proven ineffective behind a porous Steelers offensive line, and offensive coordinator Matt Canada's pre-snap motion usage isn't fooling anyone. The Pittsburgh offense never looked better this year than it did in the second half of their Week 13 comeback win against Baltimore, when Roethlisberger conducted a fast-paced muddle-huddle offense, with every play using shotgun or pistol formation. Roethlisberger shredded the Baltimore secondary with that approach, finding Diontae Johnson for two fourth quarter touchdowns. "The Steelers are at the point of the season where this is their best way to approach their offense," Kaboly said. "Say what you want about Roethlisberger getting his way and such, but when it works as it did against the Ravens, it had to be revisited." A continuation of their Week 13 approach would be a boon for Johnson and Chase Claypool. Harris could still get their with his pass-catching work, though his 25-carry days might be limited as the Steelers make a run at the postseason.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 8:49 am

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Vikings WR Adam Thielen suffered a high ankle sprain in Week 13 against the Lions.

Advice: Thielen will undergo further testing on Monday to determine how much time he'll miss, but he's likely out for Week 14, especially considering the Vikings have a short week before playing Pittsburgh on Thursday. K.J. Osborn will assume WR2 duties for Minnesota, and Justin Jefferson should see even more targets with Thielen sidelined. Chase Claypool caught 2-of-3 targets for 52 yards in the Steelers' Week 13 win against the Ravens.

Advice: Claypool reeled in a 40-yarder in the first half before Ben Roethlisberger keyed on Diontae Johnson in the second half. Claypool's three targets were fourth among Pittsburgh pass catchers on the day. He's had a boom-or-bust fantasy profile all season and that's unlikely to change next week against the Vikings. Sony Michel rushed 24 times for 121 yards and one score, hauling in 3-of-4 targets for eight receiving yards in Los Angeles' Week 13 win over the Jaguars.

Advice: Darrell Henderson (thigh) was active and available for "emergency situations" after missing practice throughout the week, which allowed Michel to log a season-high 97% of Los Angeles' snaps and the first 100-rushing yard game by a Ram this season. Even in facing a stacked box with eight-plus defenders on half of his carries, Michel plowed ahead for 54 yards (an above-average outcome) on those runs, ceding just two total touches to backup Makhi Sargent. • Roethlisberger has two fourth quarter TDs vs. BAL
Ben Roethlisberger completed 21-of-31 attempts for 236 yards and two touchdowns in the Steelers' Week 13 win against the Ravens.

Advice: Roethlisberger played better than the box score would indicate. He threw his best pass of the 2021 season on a dropped 37-yard touchdown to Dionate Johnson in the first half, then hit Johnson twice for scores in the fourth quarter in a comeback victory over the division rival Ravens, the most extreme pass-funnel defense in the NFL. With reports swirling that 2021 will be Roethlisberger's last in Pittsburgh, the Steelers will have some "win one for the Gipper" energy over the regular season's final four weeks. Keenan Allen caught 5-of-8 passes for 34 yards and two touchdowns in the Chargers' Week 13 win over the Bengals.

Advice: Allen added a two-point conversion pass on a reverse that saw him hit find Justin Herbert wide open in the end zone. Despite finishing fourth on the Chargers in receiving yards, it was undoubtedly an exciting day for fantasy managers who were relying on Allen. He also led the Chargers in targets. Herbert primarily beat the Bengals with his deep ball so Allen's short targets weren't a priority but it remained a successful day based on his red zone usage. • Schefter: Ben done in Pittsburgh after 2021
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Ben Roethlisberger "privately has told former teammates and some within the organization that he expects this to be his final season playing quarterback for the Steelers."

Advice: The rapidly declining Roethlisberger was never likely to play another season for the Steelers after he took a pay cut to come back for one more run at a championship this year. Schefter's reporting insinuates Roethlisberger might not retire but seek to continue his NFL career with another (quarterback-needy) franchise. With zero mobility and fledgling arm strength at 39 years old, Roethlisberger would do well to call it a career, even if the Steelers make the postseason. Zimmer has never been entirely truthful regarding injuries in the past, however, so this report from Schefter is what we're going with for now. He has just two catches over the last two weeks for 27 yards but has handled more of the rushing work with 14 carries for 145 yards and three scores on the ground. Advice: Rapoport said the injury is not considered season ending, though we still don't have a timeframe for how long Cook will be sidelined. Cook suffered a similar injury near the end of the 2019 season and returned to his workhorse role in the playoffs against the Saints. Those who smartly rostered Alexander Mattison should get at least a couple games with Mattison as the team's every-down back, starting with a plus Week 13 matchup against the wretched Lions defense. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Deebo Samuel (groin) is expected to "miss a little time."

Advice: Samuel, who will undergo further testing on the groin injury that kept him sidelined during the second half of the 49ers' Week 12 win against the Vikings, avoided "a major injury," according to Rapoport. The Niners will be as careful as possible with the unstoppable centerpiece of their offense; Samuel drafters should be prepared to be without their stud offensive weapon for at least Week 13. Samuel's absence wouldn't create a target vacuum as much as it will open up carries for Elijah Mitchell and the team's running backs. Samuel has logged 20 rushing attempts over the past three games, including six for 66 yards and two touchdowns against Minnesota's shoddy run defense. A fully healthy Deebo -- who has a history of soft tissue injuries -- for the fantasy playoffs would give Deebo drafters a massive boost in their championship pursuit.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Nov 29, 9:18 am

  • RapSheet: Dalvin Cook suffered dislocated shoulder
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Dalvin Cook suffered a dislocated shoulder in Week 12 against the 49ers.

Advice: Cook was in considerable pain before he was carted off in the second half of the Vikings' loss to the Niners. Head coach Mike Zimmer, meanwhile, implied his star running back had suffered a serious injury. Dealing with a torn labrum in the other (non-dislocated) shoulder, Cook will certainly miss some time -- it's only a matter of how many weeks. Cook is scheduled for more testing on his dislocated shoulder Monday. Dr. Edwin Porras, a physical therapist and medical analyst for Fantasy Points, said a separated shoulder could cost Cook around three weeks, assuming the injury does not require surgery. Alexander Mattison, who should have been rostered in all formats, becomes a top-10 weekly running back option if Cook is out in Week 13 against Detroit.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Nov 29, 5:10 am

  • David Njoku finds end-zone against Ravens
David Njoku caught 3-of-5 targets for 35 yards and a touchdown in Week 12 against the Ravens.

Advice: Njoku had just three targets the last two weeks. This was his first spike game since Week 5 and just the fourth time he's went over 30 yards. Second-year TE Harrison Bryant also played a larger role this week, posting 50 yards on three targets and briefly leaving with an ankle injury. Njoku doesn't need to be rostered through Cleveland's Week 13 bye. • Sony Michel has 14 rushing yards vs. Packers
Sony Michel had three rushes for 13 yards in the Rams' Week 12 loss to the Packers, adding one catch for 11 yards.

Advice: Michel saw little playing time with Darrell Henderson getting 16 rushing attempts and catching a touchdown in his workhorse role. Michel is a reasonable bench stash who would likely see 15-20 touches per game if Henderson were to miss time during the regular season's final six weeks.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Nov 28, 6:47 pm

  • Thielen scores 9th and 10th touchdowns vs. 49ers
Adam Thielen caught 5-of-7 targets for 62 yards and two touchdowns in the Vikings' Week 12 loss to the 49ers.

Advice: The scores were Thielen's ninth and 10th of the season, giving him three in the past two weeks. Thielen's biggest grab was a 29-yarder on a flea flicker. He appeared to have a sixth reception where he cradled the ball millimeters from the grass, but replay mysteriously ruled it incomplete. Thielen's scores went for two and 20 yards. Ceiling has not been there for Thielen with only one 100-yard game, but his touchdowns keep the floor nice and tidy. He will be a locked-in WR2 for Week 13 vs. Detroit.   NBCSportsEDGE.com Nov 28, 5:15 pm

  • Deebo Samuel (groin) doesn't return vs. Vikings
Deebo Samuel did not return to the 49ers' Week 12 win over the Vikings after departing with a third quarter groin injury.

Advice: That's the bad news. The good news is, Samuel remained on the 49ers' sideline in evident good spirits. He did not have the looks of a player who thought he was dealing with a serious injury, but he nevertheless failed to return to a competitive game. He will undergo an MRI, indicating a level of concern. Samuel should be considered genuinely questionable for Week 13 against the Seahawks' awful defense. We will hopefully have an update by Monday afternoon.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Nov 28, 4:40 pm

  • Keenan Allen goes 7-85 on 10 targets in loss
Keenan Allen caught 7-of-10 targets for 85 yards in the Chargers' Week 12 loss to the Broncos.

Advice: Allen's 10 targets led the team, as he's seen double-digit targets in five straight games after a slow month from Weeks 3-6. Allen has at least 77 yards in five straight and has solidified himself as a weekly WR1/2 ahead of a Week 13 date with the Bengals. The only thing missing for Allen is touchdowns with just two on the year. NBCSportsEDGE.com Nov 28, 4:32 pm

  • Deebo Samuel questionable with groin injury
Deebo Samuel was forced from San Francisco's Week 12 game against the Vikings with a groin injury and is questionable to return.

Advice: Trying to cut back and stop his momentum on a third quarter red zone run, Samuel crumpled down before getting tackled. He remained down without his helmet on for several moments. Samuel eventually made it to the sideline under his own power, but very gingerly. He was visibly upset. Samuel has since remained on the sideline but without his helmet. Samuel briefly dealt with a groin issue in 2019. Samuel was having another monster day before going down, contributing 6/66/2 on the ground and 1/12 through the air. He gained 49 yards on a third quarter rush. Samuel was doing major damage on carries where he was sent in motion before the handoff.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Nov 28, 4:01 pm

  • Dalvin Cook carted after third quarter pileup
Dalvin Cook was carted from Minnesota's Week 12 game against the 49ers with a shoulder injury and will not return.

Advice: In a bizarre scene, Cook got run into a pileup between one of his blockers and a defensive lineman, got hit high, lost a fumble, and went down in severe pain. Cook's right leg twisted awkwardly, but Cook immediately grabbed for his chest/pec area. He remained down for several minutes before eventually being loaded into a cart. He was in tears as he headed toward the locker room. Cook frequently goes down with what seem to be major injuries before quickly returning, but this did not feel like part of that pattern. We are highly concerned he is dealing with major injury. He has a history of shoulder issues. Cook had 103 yards on 16 touches before going down. Alexander Mattison would be a plug-and-play RB1 were Cook to miss Week 13 against the Lions.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Nov 28, 3:50 pm

  • Claypool: 82 yards in uneven performance vs. CIN
Chase Claypool caught 3-of-8 targets for 82 yards in the Steelers' Week 12 loss to the Bengals.

Advice: Claypool had a bad miscommunication with Ben Roethlisberger in the first quarter that led to an interception and dropped a ball on third down before the game got out of hand. Functioning as the Steelers' lone downfield threat, Claypool hauled in two deep shots -- one for 41 yards -- against the Bengals while Diontae Johnson vacuumed up most of the underneath looks. Claypool is a fine weekly WR3 option with as much upside as any receiver outside the top-20 in a Pittsburgh offense that will usually be pass heavy. Claypool has a lot of flex appeal for Week 13 against a leaky Baltimore secondary.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Nov 28, 2:29 pm

  • Ben overwhelmed by Bengals defense in Week 12 loss
Ben Roethlisberger completed 24-of-41 attempts for 263 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions in the Steelers' Week 12 loss to the Bengals.

Advice: Roethlisberger saved his statistical day -- and that of his pass catchers -- with a fourth quarter drive while down 38 points to Cincy. He seemed to be out of sync with Chase Claypool throughout the game, resulting in a first quarter interception on a pass to the sideline while Claypool streaked downfield. Roethlisberger's weak throwing arm wreaked havoc at the end of the first half when he tried a late throw to the boundary that was picked off for a touchdown, essentially ending the game in the second quarter. Roethlisberger was sacked thrice and pressured on nearly every drop back. Fantasy managers should treat him as a mid-range QB2 next week against the pass-funnel Ravens defense.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Nov 28, 1:28 pm
