Behind an Impressive Group of RBs, Team 1 Crushed this Draft

Draft Summary

Blessed with the No. 1 pick, Team 1 had an outstanding performance. The team is particularly strong at the running back position, as Christian McCaffrey and Joe Mixon are slated to combine for the highest point total of all starting RB groups in the league. Team 1 are predicted to finish 2nd in Yahoo Public 1024821 with a record of 12-3 (2,130 points).

  • Josh Allen

Best Pick

Team 1 notched a tremendous early-round bargain when they selected Allen in the 4th round, about 10 slots later than his ADP of 30. After a season in which he threw for 4,544 yards and 37 TDs with 10 INTs and racked up 421 yards and 8 TDs, totaling 406 fantasy points, Allen is projected to score 435 fantasy points with the Bills. That makes him a valuable No. 1 QB for this squad.

  • Chase Claypool

Going out on a Limb

Are you friends with Denzel Washington? Because you must have had an "Inside Man" telling you to select Claypool at No. 60, about two rounds earlier than his ADP of 80. Then again, perhaps you're onto something. Projected to score 208 fantasy points this season with the Steelers, he appears set to top his rookie year when he snagged 62 passes for 873 yards and 9 TDs, earning 184 fantasy points. Claypool will slot in as the No. 3 WR for Team 1, based on projections.

Draft Notes

  • Team 1 face a tough task in Week 13 when they have three players on a bye (Christian McCaffrey, A.J. Brown, and Kareem Hunt). Fortunately, Todd's Terrific Team, your Week 13 opponent, will be confronting a similar issue with two players (Aaron Jones and Robby Anderson) on a bye week.

  • With a strength of schedule ranked as the easiest according to projected records, Team 1 won't face too many speed bumps in Yahoo Public 1024821 this season. But that doesn't mean you should coast through the season. For fantasy managers who don't give their team the attention it requires, even light schedules can become challenging overnight.

  • With the 2nd-youngest group in the league at an average of 3.9 years of NFL experience, Team 1 seem to be counting on youthful exuberance. Still, they didn't pick any of the 10 rookies drafted.

  • Even with an offensive opening at TE in the 6th round, Team 1 chose WR Chase Claypool with the 60th pick, filling the WR/RB/TE flex position rather than a position of higher need. They were the second-to-last squad to make their first flex pick.

How We Grade

Draft grades are based strictly on teams' draft performances. This is calculated by counting the number of fantasy points teams are projected to score over the course of the season using their optimal line-ups. The grades do not take schedule into account. Because of bye weeks and other variables it is possible to earn a high grade yet be projected to finish in the middle of the pack. The opposite is also true. Bottom line: Fantasy Football is like the real game. You can draft the greatest talent in the world but you still need to manage your team every week to get the most out of that talent. As a wise man once said, "On any given Sunday..."
