Despite top scorer Allen, Tampa Thunder fall to Chapel Bulls, 120-107
Josh Allen had 30 points for Tampa Thunder, the highest total in the league this week, but it wasn't enough to defeat Chapel Bulls, who came back to earn a 120-107 victory. Chapel Bulls trailed 101-97 heading into Monday night, but the unit charged back behind Patrick Mahomes (15 points) and Harrison Butker (8). Josh Allen (249 Pass Yds, 2 Pass TDs, 55 Rush Yds, 1 Rush TD) and A.J. Brown (10 Rec, 155 Rec Yds, 1 Rec TD) led the way for Tampa Thunder in the loss. Chapel Bulls (4-4) will look to rack up another win against Chico's Bail Bonds, while Tampa Thunder (6-2) will try to get some positive momentum against Laces Out Dan!.
Boyd overachieved for the third time this season, scoring 13 points against his 6.52-point projection. During a 34-31 loss to the Jets, he had 69 receiving yards and a touchdown and passed for 46 yards. Boyd will face the Browns next week.
Sunday Early
Both teams had players with highlight-reel moments early Sunday, but it was Tampa Thunder who took the lead, 84-77. Cooper Kupp had a 52-yard catch for Chapel Bulls, while Tyler Boyd had a 46-yard pass. A.J. Brown made the highlight reel for Tampa Thunder with a 57-yard touchdown catch.
Sunday Late
Chris Godwin had a 44-yard catch for Chapel Bulls, who trailed 101-97 after the late afternoon games.
Chapel Bulls
Sure, we ultimately got the win, but we can't deny it, Chapel Bulls; our quarterback was severely outclassed by the opposition. Josh Allen went 29-of-42 for 249 yards and two touchdowns for Tampa Thunder, and all Patrick Mahomes could manage through the air was 275 yards and one passing TD (plus an ugly interception). We need to bounce back with a big statement in Week 9!
Tampa Thunder
The problem in Week 8 is pretty easy to diagnose, Tampa Thunder. Starting Travis Kelce in a fantasy matchup where your opponent put up 120 points... we'll deem this to be an opportunity to get better and all agree that it won't happen again.
