A skillful draft performance by the GM of The Mad Scientist turned the No. 8 overall pick into a projected 2nd-place finish. With Michael Thomas and Odell Beckham Jr. expected to combine for the highest point total of all starting WR groups in the league, The Mad Scientist are predicted to finish 11-2 (1,695 points) in Hiawatha Elite League.

  • Golden Tate

Biggest Steal: The Mad Scientist netted a great late-round bargain in selecting Tate with the 5th pick of the 14th round, about three rounds later than his ADP of 130. Following a season in which he hauled in 49 balls for 676 yards and 6 TDs in 11 games, totaling 103 fantasy points, Tate is projected to score 110 fantasy points with the Giants. That makes him the No. 5 WR for this squad.

  • Michael Thomas

Regression Candidate: The WR is expected to be the least likely to repeat what he did last year of all the offensive picks by The Mad Scientist. After a season in which he recorded 149 catches for 1,725 yards and 9 TDs, totaling 226 fantasy points, Thomas is projected to score 202 fantasy points with the Saints, an 11% decline. That still makes him the No. 1 WR for this squad.

Draft Notes

  • The Mad Scientist blazed the trail for a run on the kicker position, taking Justin Tucker in the 9th round as the first K off the draft board. Three more kickers were chosen in the ensuing round.

  • The Mad Scientist seem particularly thin at running back, drafting fewer than any other team in the league with only three, lagging the league average of 4.7.

  • The Mad Scientist face a tough challenge in Week 8 when they have eight players on a bye, led by Deshaun Watson, Kenyan Drake, and Justin Tucker. Your Week 8 opponent, Unstoppable, will have three players (Terry McLaurin, David Johnson, and Will Fuller V) on a bye.

  • With a strength of schedule rated as the 3rd-easiest according to projections, The Mad Scientist have one of the least challenging schedules in Hiawatha Elite League this season.

How We Grade

Draft grades are based strictly on teams' draft performances. This is calculated by counting the number of fantasy points teams are projected to score over the course of the season using their optimal line-ups. The grades do not take schedule into account. Because of bye weeks and other variables it is possible to earn a high grade yet be projected to finish in the middle of the pack. The opposite is also true. Bottom line: Fantasy Football is like the real game. You can draft the greatest talent in the world but you still need to manage your team every week to get the most out of that talent. As a wise man once said, "On any given Sunday..."
