Rule 113. Draft Pick Trading Amendment
Each manager can trade or trade for one (1) pick in the range of picks 1-5, one (1) pick in the range of picks 6-10, and three (3) picks in the range of picks 11-21 per season. This allows for a maximum of five (5) draft pick trades per manger per season. The limit of five draft pick trades only applies to trades with draft picks included, trades not including draft picks are not subject to a limit.
Example:
Team A is out of playoff contention and wants to trade off players to improve their draft the following season.
Team A trades Player 1 to Team B for one 1st round pick. Team A and Team B now cannot make another trade using picks in the range of 1-5 for the remainder of the season.
Team A trades Player 2 to Team C for one 6th round pick. Team A and Team C now cannot make another trade using picks in the range of 6-10 for the remainder of the season.
Team A trades Player 3 to Team D for one 11th round pick. Team A and Team D now can only make up to two more trades using picks in the range of 11-21 for the remainder of the season.
Team A can move their five players but the maximum return they can get is one additional 1st round pick, one additional 6th round pick and three additional 11th round picks.
This allows Team A to trade their five players while limiting the return of the draft picks for the following year so as to not allow a super-team or a super-tank.
Please weigh in as this will most likely be a rule change for the upcoming season. Please play devil's advocate so we can work out potential problems ahead of time.
