Despite top scorer Mixon, Naper Villagers fall to Streamwood Steamers, 90-85

Joe Mixon racked up 19 points for Naper Villagers, the best total in the matchup and fifth-best in the league this week, but it wasn't enough to overcome Streamwood Steamers, who earned a 90-85 victory. Streamwood Steamers leapt out to a 25-point lead early Sunday afternoon behind outstanding efforts from Travis Kelce (13 points) and Nick Chubb (13). Naper Villagers bounced back to take the lead during the late round of games on Sunday, powered by Joe Mixon (19 points) and Ezekiel Elliott (18). Not to be deterred, Streamwood Steamers pulled it together later that night, as the Chicago Bears defense (16 points) and Tarik Cohen (8) put them back ahead for good. This marks the second time this season Streamwood Steamers have gotten the best of Naper Villagers, after winning 123-80 in their last matchup. Streamwood Steamers will look to keep winning in the semifinals next week, while Naper Villagers attempt to bounce back and finish the season with a win in the 5th Place game.

Coach Talk

Streamwood Steamers
Getting the win is most important, Streamwood Steamers, but we definitely know of one spot where we can improve as a team; our starting running backs were significantly outclassed this past week. Held back by David Johnson (61 yards from scrimmage, no TDs) and Tarik Cohen (89 yards, no TDs), our three RBs combined for just 26 points in Week 14, and the starting backfield for Naper Villagers doubled us up with a score of 52. Let's bug the offensive coordinator to get some more touches in Week 15!
Naper Villagers
Naper Villagers will find it tough to complain about lack of opportunities this past week. Our trio of pass-catchers (two WR and one TE) were targeted a whopping 25 times in Week 14. With just 14 total receptions, that group may be showing signs of chemistry issues.
