  • Welcome back veterans or welcome newbies. The 2016 Fantasy Football season is about to begin. It's time to flip the switch and get this party started. This fantasy league always proves to be very competitive and very fun. We surely hope you all have a great challenge as we travel the NFL highway.

    We only have a few rules: Friendly banter and chiding is encouraged, but keep it clean and keep it on subject – those that abuse this privilege will (and have been) shut down for the rest of the season. As for when we draft, it's before the regular season begins – hopefully we will know who has survived the cuts and major injuries, plus it also gives everyone time to set their pre-draft list.

    I hope that you all have edited your auto-picks. Yahoo! drafts according to the rankings that you have given them. If you have not set any rankings, then Yahoo! will use their rankings and draft according to them. When you are ready to have your team drafted, you leave a note/message right here saying “I’m Ready”. I check the message boards just prior to flipping the switch. Some of us take our time picking our players and ranking them, which is good. Those people are usually at the top of the league when the season is done. Those who think that Yahoo! rankings are okay as is, are sure to have a very rude awakening come post-draft time! So, when I say do your own rankings, I know of what I speak. Some of us here have several years invested in this process called "The Draft" and we don't rush into anything. So please be patient, some of us are working here!

    AUGUST 13 is the date of the DRAFT. Please be ready by then. I have 40 leagues on 10 sites, so it is a process to read the messages on each page and then set the controls. As most of you know, Yahoo! can sometimes take up to 3 days or only 3 hours to do their draft, so just keep checking back. As for who drafts where, I have no control over that – I have the draft setting to “RANDOM” position, Yahoo! Determines who is #1, #2, #3 and so on. (I have been accused in the past of rigging the Draft by newbies who didn’t rank their players and saw all the good players on other teams.) The only part that I do is set the Status to “READY” and wait like everyone else.

    As soon as the draft has finished, you will be able to select, move, trade, drop, and add as you see fit, because all heck breaks loose with the wheeling and dealing. Watch your emails for updates and trades.

    PS. It can take up to 3 days for Yahoo! to draft. You will get an email from Yahoo! saying that the draft is complete and your team is set when it is completed.
