What's important Wayne Thompson is that you have fun, regardless of the final score. Like that quote from Vince Lombardi, "Winning isn't everything, it's the only thing." Oh wait no, that's not the right quote for this. Turns out there aren't many quotes about having fun and losing, so let's just get to the projections. Wayne Thompson is expected to finish ninth in Hiawatha Elite League with a record of 5-7-1 (1,379 points). They obviously understand how important the running back position is in fantasy football. They used three of their first five picks on RBs Marshawn Lynch (first round), Doug Martin (fourth round), and Andre Ellington (fifth round). They put together one of the highest-scoring groups of WRs in the league, as they have Calvin Johnson, Alshon Jeffery, Allen Robinson, and Devin Funchess on their team.

Week 9 is not looking like a fun one for fantasy football. Wayne Thompson should look into the joys of scrapbooking, or bird-watching, or just anything that isn't fantasy football. It might not be pretty. They have four players and the most projected fantasy points on bye that week. Looking at the entire season, they have one of the easiest slates. Although they have the fourth-easiest overall schedule, Wayne Thompson actually has the second-most difficult last four games of the season.

Draft Notes

  • Strength in Numbers

In order, the three best positions for Wayne Thompson are RB, WR, and K.

  • On the Rise

Wayne Thompson hopes to break through this season, led by five players who are projected to significantly exceed their fantasy points from last season.

  • QB Controversy?

Wayne Thompson may have to rely on a Ouija board each week. Their top-drafted QB (Teddy Bridgewater) and second-drafted QB (Colin Kaepernick) have fairly similar seasonal point projections.

  • Basic Math is Optional

Michael Vick once claimed "I have two weapons; my arms, my legs and my brain.” With 635 projected rushing yards, Colin Kaepernick can channel his inner Vick to help Wayne Thompson this year.

Player Analysis

    • Marshawn Lynch, RB
    • Round 1, Pick 5
Marshawn Lynch Doesn't Read the Playbook

The playbook reads him. Wayne Thompson should be in decent shape if Lynch gets his 310 projected touches this year.

    • Calvin Johnson, WR
    • Round 2, Pick 20
    The Power of Persuasion

Now would be a reasonable time for Wayne Thompson to encourage the Hiawatha Elite League to raise the value of receptions. They snagged Calvin Johnson and his 89 projected catches (ranked eighth in the NFL).

    • Alshon Jeffery, WR
    • Round 3, Pick 29
173 More Reasons to Appreciate Alshon Jeffery

Jeffery ranks eighth in the Hiawatha Elite League among WRs with 173 projected fantasy points.

    • Doug Martin, RB
    • Round 4, Pick 44
    Throwing Caution to the Wind

They grabbed Doug Martin with the 44th pick, even though his ADP is only 93.2 across all Yahoo! leagues.

    • A. Ellington, RB
    • Round 5, Pick 53
    Better Lucky Than Good?

The rest of Hiawatha Elite League overlooked a gem, and Wayne Thompson made the highest value pick of the round by taking Andre Ellington.

Best Available

There are three positions that Wayne Thompson could look to improve, including TE and QB, which look like the biggest areas of need.

    • Rank 126, ADP 133
    • Jordan Reed
    • Rank 133, ADP 136
    • Philip Rivers

How We Grade

Draft grades are based strictly on teams' draft performances. This is calculated by counting the number of fantasy points teams are projected to score over the course of the season using their optimal line-ups. The grades do not take schedule into account. Because of bye weeks and other variables it is possible to earn a high grade yet be projected to finish in the middle of the pack. The opposite is also true. Bottom line: Fantasy Football is like the real game. You can draft the greatest talent in the world but you still need to manage your team every week to get the most out of that talent. As a wise man once said, "On any given Sunday..."
