Christmas Noob was set up perfectly to draft a playoff-caliber team with the third overall pick. Instead of using that to their advantage, however, they chose to go a different route that's geared more towards losing. They're only projected to finish 12th in Hiawatha Elite League with a mark of 0-13-0 (1,143 points). They aimed for having a roster with balance throughout, taking QB Aaron Rodgers (3rd overall), RBs Terrance West (27th) and Jerick McKinnon (46th), and WRs A.J. Green (22nd) and Davante Adams (51st). They built the lowest-scoring group of RBs in the league, as they added Reggie Bush, West, McKinnon, and Matt Asiata to their roster.

Week 7 will not be fun for Christmas Noob, as their top two projected scorers (Aaron Rodgers and A.J. Green) will be relaxing at home that week. Based on their opponents' projected points, they have the toughest schedule. Along with the most taxing overall schedule, both the first four games and last four games of the season are pretty average for Christmas Noob.

Draft Notes

  • A Green Bay Packers Fan, Perhaps?

Christmas Noob reached three times to draft a Green Bay Packers player.

  • Maybe You Should Add Tony Gonzalez While You're At It

In Week 10, both Antonio Gates and Coby Fleener will be on bye for Christmas Noob.

  • WR or Bust

Unfortunately, WR is the only strong position on Christmas Noob. Fortunately, there's always next year.

  • Best Days are Behind Them?

With four players projected to score significantly fewer points this season, Christmas Noob will be hoping the experts are wrong.

  • Putting Their Best Foot Forward

Christmas Noob knows this isn't European football, right? They elected to go with two kickers, instead of stockpiling depth at other positions.

  • Taking Some Time to get Warmed Up

Christmas Noob got off to a lackluster start, winding up with the weakest projected point total in the league during the first half of the draft.

Player Analysis

    • Aaron Rodgers, QB
    • Round 1, Pick 3
    Insanely Efficient

Despite attempting 32.5 passes per game (just 22nd in the league), Rodgers threw for the seventh-most yards (4,381) and third-most TDs (38) last season. A whopping 33 QBs tossed more interceptions than Rodgers' five.

    • A.J. Green, WR
    • Round 2, Pick 22
171 Reasons for Christmas Noob to Appreciate A.J. Green

Green ranks ninth in the Hiawatha Elite League among WRs with 171 projected fantasy points.

    • Terrance West, RB
    • Round 3, Pick 27
    If it Ain't Broke

Then do fix it? Laughing in the face of decades of fantasy tradition, Christmas Noob didn't grab their first RB (Terrance West) until the third round.

    • J. McKinnon, RB
    • Round 4, Pick 46
Christmas Noob Went All YOLO Here

Grabbing Jerick McKinnon at pick 46 was, let's say, conceptually adventurous. McKinnon is owned on just a few rosters across all Yahoo! leagues.

    • Antonio Gates, TE
    • Round 6, Pick 70
    Milk Was a Bad Choice

And so was drafting Antonio Gates, the weakest value of the round.

Best Available

There are five positions that Christmas Noob could look to upgrade, including RB, which looks like their biggest area of need.

    • Jonas Gray
    • Rank 151, ADP 121
    • Darren Sproles
    • Rank 170, ADP 114
    • Ahmad Bradshaw
    • Rank 182, ADP 113
    • Chris Johnson
    • Rank 210, ADP 115

How We Grade

Draft grades are based strictly on teams' draft performances. This is calculated by counting the number of fantasy points teams are projected to score over the course of the season using their optimal line-ups. The grades do not take schedule into account. Because of bye weeks and other variables it is possible to earn a high grade yet be projected to finish in the middle of the pack. The opposite is also true. Bottom line: Fantasy Football is like the real game. You can draft the greatest talent in the world but you still need to manage your team every week to get the most out of that talent. As a wise man once said, "On any given Sunday..."
