Commish Notes

  • Greetings fellow managers,

The playoffs are upon us. My congrats to the Central Division squeaking in more than one team thanks to Matty. This was at the expense of a few other teams that had a chance going into the final week. Having 11 teams in the running was about all I could ask for for a regular season.

For those of you whose season has ended, be thinking about your potential keepers. From what I'm hearing, managers would like to roll with two keepers. Keep in mind, you don't have to keep anyone though. For sake of draft order ease, any keepers you keep will eliminate your first two round picks. If you don't keep anyone, you would get a pick in those rounds. Also, the draft order is set for next year. Tom "FredEx" gets the last overall pick with his regular season title. Taste The DwayneBowe gets the number one overall pick (assuming everyone keeps 12).

For those of you whose season didn't go quite as planned, thank you for playing. I hope it was fun and made some NFL watching even better. I do see not everyone used their FAAB budget. Hope you knew how this worked. If you have any questions heading into next year, let me know.

For those of you in the running for the money, congrats and good luck. Let's hope the number one seed and Arian Foster curses (not sure if these are a combined curse or separate) continues!

  • Greetings on Turkey (or ham in our case since my wife doesn't like turkey) Day!

Hope everyone is set to have a great holiday. Or if you're stuck with family or in-laws you don't like, here's hoping they don't talk or ask stupid questions like "why does that guy in stripes keep throwing a yellow towel on the grass" or comment on how much they one team's "outfits" during the football games. Reminder, we have three games today, so get your lineups set!

We have a $50 weekly prize for the most total starting team points this week. Next week is largest margin of victory.

Only 2 more weeks till the playoffs. I'm no math genius (pretty close tho) but I don't believe anyone is actually eliminated from contention yet. This would be the make or break week tho.

Good luck all and happy holidays!

  • Hey peeps...

Sorry I meant to post earlier in the week, but work has kept me busy. I hope everyone got their players in for last night's Thursday game. Chris...maybe you should not have.

Saruni and Karla won this last week's prize for top combination of defence and kicker points. But holy crap, pretty good race for that. There is no prize this week as it is the last week for NFL byes.

Next week will be for total starting team points in week 12 and then largest margin of victory for week 13.

We start divisional play again this week, so the playoff push is truly on. You can make up some ground quick if needed. Just to let you know, the Central Division is really letting the league down. Yet, my whole Coastal Division is slated to make the playoffs!

As we are heading into the playoffs, be thinking about any changes you may want for the league next year. Post anything you like and I can try and get a consensus from the other owners. Please also be thinking about keepers. I've been thinking about the number and asking around and I'm hearing anywhere from 1-3. Let me know what you're thinking about that as well.

    Thanks guys and gal,

    Commish Joey

  • Welcome to week 10!

I have to say, I love the parody so far this year. It's week 10 and we have 4 more weeks to the regular season. Nobody is out of it yet, but it's starting to be crunch time. Remember the top 8 make the playoffs for weeks 14-16.

With no NFL bye week, we have another $50 prize. This week's prize goes to the top scoring starting defense and kicker.

There's a break for week 11 and then we have a prize for total team points in week 12 and then largest margin of victory for week 13.

Also remember that the NFL starts Thursday night games from here on out. Get your lineups done early and watch those injuries.

    Peace -

  • Happy Week 5 guys (and gals)! Pat won the Week 4 top prize for TE with Jimmy Graham. He also had the high score of the week. I think that's 2 weeks in a row Chris has had the most points scored against him!

That's the end of the weekly prizes till week 10. So you'll have to get enjoyment from just winning your week now. Keep mind, 8 teams make the playoffs. The tie break is total points scored. Right now, Kurt would just sneak in.

Hope you're all enjoying it...asides from me winning all the time and all. Let's get a Sunday morning party going at Wild Wings or something.

  • We're on to week 4. Divisional matchups are done and talk about pretty good parody. We only have one 0-3 team...come on Rick! Your's truly won the $50 weekly prize with a miraculous trade on Saturday...thank you Tom!

You may notice that everyone has paid except for Pat. I know I set a deadline of last week, but he has a good excuse. As you may know, he is in the Army and he didn't bring his checkbook. I'm giving him a "patriot pass" for the time being.

This week's prize goes to the top scoring TE. Again, the TE has to be started in the staring slot and not in the flex. Good luck to all!

  • Week 3 is upon us! Chris aka Reevis and Butthead won the week 2 $50 prize for top RB with Adrian Peterson and 32.10 points edging out Saruni and Karla with Fred Jackson and 32.00 points. Since Chris hasn't paid yet, he now only owes $60! Yaaay.

Week 3's prize is for top WR (damn you Miles Austin for your bad timing). Again the top WR that is started in one of the two starting WR spots earns the weekly $50.

The deadline for payment is this Sunday prior to 10:00 AM PST. The buy in again is $110. Please send to:
    Joey Greenberg

  • Week one has come and gone. It went just as I drew it up...yup.

Wade Moyer and his ever so creative team name of "Moyer" won the week one payout in a losing effort. We all know how crazy Tom Brady went and with him, Wade won the $50. This week's prize goes to the top scoring RB. One note, the RB has to start in one of your two starting RB spots. Flex spots don't count.

I still have a few guys who haven't paid. Please check the dues section to see how much you still owe.

The buy in again is $110. Please send to:
    Joey Greenberg

  • Greetings everyone!

We're about ready to roll with this thing! First a bit of business...Only a few of you have paid so far. Buy in and pay outs...
The buy in again is $110. Please send to:
    Joey Greenberg
    881 NE Caden Ave
    Hillsboro OR 97124

Please send this in as soon as you can. Or if you'll be seeing me soon, you can drop off the payment then. The deadline for full payment to Wed, Sept 21, right before the 3rd week of games. That is money or check in hand by this time or I will be forced to lock teams out who haven't paid. You'll find a link called "dues" from the front page to see who's paid and what amounts. When you send your check or if you pay by cash in person, please provide me your email and residential address so I know where to send the winnings.

    Again...
The payouts are as follows: From the playoffs, 1st place receives $510, 2nd place $250 and 3rd place $155. There will also be a $50 prize for the top overall seed after the regular season. This is figured by standings with total points as the tie breaker. There are also $50 weekly prizes per the following schedule:
    Week 1 top scoring QB
    Week 2 RB
    Week 3 WR
    Week 4 TE
    Week 10 Combined K/DEF
Week 12 Total starting team points
Week 13 Largest margin of victory
You'll notice these are non-bye weeks for NFL teams. To win, you must start the player of choice in one of their starting spots and not in the flex position.

That's right, this week, week 1, has a $50 prize for the top scoring starting QB.

    Good luck to all!

  • Greetings All,

We are officially almost ready to go on this thing...sort of. We have all of our managers finally. Please consider the following a sort of league by-laws.

Chapter 1 - Buy in and pay outs...
The buy in again is $110. Please send to:
    Joey Greenberg
    881 NE Caden Ave
    Hillsboro OR 97124

Please send this in as soon as you can, or even send in half to begin with if money is tight...no judging. Just don't make me start stressing about having to lock teams out. I've adjusted the deadline for full payment to Wed, Sept 21, right before the 3rd week of games. That is money or check in hand by this time or I will be forced to lock teams out who haven't paid. You'll find a link called "dues" from the front page to see who's paid and what amounts. When you send your check or if you pay by cash in person, please provide me your email and residential address so I know where to send the winnings.

    Chapter 2 - Set Up
I've randomly(sort of, I did setup setup a few rivalries) set up 3 divisions with 4 teams in each division. I've also finished the schedule and you will play each division team twice. Division match ups take place in weeks 1-3 and 11-13. You'll play all but one of the other teams outside of your division once. The playoffs will feature 8 teams and take place in weeks 14-16. The top seed will play the 8th seed and so on. The division champs will get the highest seeds with the rest being seeded based on standings and then point totals as the tie breaker.

    Chapter 3 - Settings
I'm not wanting to go into depth here, but please check out the settings from the link off the front page. You will start a QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 team DE, and 1 flex RB/WR/TE. You will get 8 reserves and one IR spot. The player must be on the NFL IR list to place your player in this spot. Scoring is pretty standard, with some minor tweaks. The biggest thing to remember is that this is a PPR league.

    Chapter 4 - Draft
The draft is scheduled for Monday (Labor Day) Sept 5 at 2:30 pm. We are doing it online, here at Yahoo, due to people being out of town. It'd be fun to it live and present, but it's too hard this year with new players. There was thought about doing a keeper league from last year's players, but with 3 new managers, this doesn't seem fair. So, the draft will be from scratch with no keepers. Just log into the front page and there will be a link to enter the draft. The draft order will be randomly chosen by Yahoo. Here's a twist though, I will allow Yahoo to choose the draft order and this will be posted ahead of time of the draft on Sunday, August 28 at approx 7 pm. I will do this once, as it posts a new note every time I adjust it. This way you can see if I tried to cheat. The draft order will be posted at this time so you can plan your draft strategy accordingly.

    Chapter 5 - Free Agency
This league runs by the FAAB. This means that once a player is dropped from a team, that player goes on "waivers." Each manager then has a chance to bid on this player. The manager with the highest bid wins that player. Each manager gets a budget of $100 for the entire season. If you win a player through FAAB, the winning bid will be deducted from your budget. The bids are finalized on Tuesday nights and the player will be on the winning manager's roster the next Wednesday. If a player passes waivers without getting picked up, he becomes a free agency and can be picked up by the first manager who acts on him. This costs nothing from your FAAB budget.

    Chapter 6 - Philosophy
As I said before, I have a vision to have this league turn into an annual 12 team keeper league. I really want managers who want to return year after year. There's no contract, but if you don't plan on keeping up with your team or taking it seriously, please withdraw your team. No questions asked or rocks thrown. As always, if you would like to see a change to any of the rules, settings, etc., please let me know. At the very least, we can put it to a league vote. I want you to be happy playing here...shit you're paying for it! IF...a big if, we have all teams return next year, this will be a keeper league and you will have the option of keeping 2 players from this end of year roster. You will then lose the draft pick in the round that keeper player was taken the year prior. Looking ahead, if you keep a player for

  • Fellow Managers,

Welcome to the 2011 NW Oregon Fantasy Football League!!! First off, we have some changes this year. My attempts to have this be a dynasty-type keeper league feel through after we lost Gabe Cottet's team. We have replaced him and are attempting to expand to 12 teams. We are still one team shy, so if you know of anyone who would want in, let me know. With the change, and to alleviate the draft setup nightmare, there will not be any keepers and we will start fresh this year. The draft order will be random, ran by Yahoo before the draft. I'm not happy about losing Arian Foster, but this is the best way to run it in my opinion. Let me know if you disagree. The draft has been tentatively set for Sunday, Sept, 4 at 3:30pm. This was the latest time available by the way as Yahoo is getting pretty limited for draft times. We had thought about doing a live draft, but I scheduled a time so we wouldn't be screwed with a bad time slot. Let me know if this doesn't work for you.

Here is the payout schedule (assuming 12 teams). The buy in is $110 per team. There will be a $50 weekly prize in weeks 1, 2, 3, 4, 10, 12, and 13, which are the weeks there are no bye weeks. This will go to the top scoring starting QB, RB, etc, with the info to be provided later. There will also be an additional $50 prize for the top team for the regular season (determined by standings, then total points if tie). After this, 1st place will get $510, 2nd, $250, and 3rd, $155. If you do your math right, there's $5 left over that I'll use for postage costs, etc.

My goal for this is to still develop a dynasty-type keeper league. Obviously there is no contract to sign, but I'd like to have guys (and girls, Karla) that want to keep coming back. As of now, if we keep everyone, my goal for next year is to keep 3 players each, where you would lose the draft pick of where that player was drafted the year prior. So keep this in mind when drafting.

Check out the scoring and setup settings for the league. I made some minor tweaks from last year. One, being that I changed the points for defensive points allowed. As always, I want you to enjoy this thing, so feel free to throw ideas my way for any changes to anything.

I'm still working on finding a 12th player. Let me know if you have anyone in mind.

Please send payments as soon as you can. I'm going to set a deadline of Sept 16, the Friday before the 2nd weekend of football. Hate to threaten, but if payment isn't received by then, I do have the power to lock your team out.

Feel free to call with anything...503-791-6125. More info to come.

Best Draft

Best Draft is awarded to the team with the most projected season points based on weekly optimal starting lineups.
