    New Orleans signed Horsted to a contract Friday.

    Advice: Horsted finished last season on the Raiders' injured reserve list due to a hamstring issue, but he's presumably now healthy. The tight end was limited mostly to special-teams work with Las Vegas in 2023, logging eight offensive snaps and catching his only target for four yards while recording 216 special-teams snaps.   • Let loose by Saints
    New Orleans waived Sheets on Friday.

    Advice: Sheets signed with the Saints as an undrafted free agent in late April, but he'll now need to seek an opportunity with a different organization.   • Dealing with minor hamstring injury
    Leonard suffered a minor hamstring injury before reaching an injury settlement with the Broncos on Thursday, Chris Tomasson of The Denver Gazette reports.

    Advice: Leonard signed as an undrafted free agent with Denver May 11 but was waived with an injury settlement Thursday. The nature of the tight end's injury was undisclosed at that time and has now been revealed to be a minor hamstring issue.     Trautman did not participate in Denver's mandatory minicamp Wednesday due to an abdomen injury, Jon Heath of USA Today reports.

    Advice: Coach Sean Payton said Trautman's injury isn't too serious and won't need surgery, calling it "basically a sprain." The fifth-year pro thus appears on track for the start of training camp late July. Trautman projects to contribute as a rotational part of the Broncos' tight-end corps behind Greg Dulcich (foot/hamstring), though the latter is still working toward a return to the field.   • Moves past injury
    Patrick, who is moving past last summer's Achilles injury, looked healthy and sharp during the Broncos' mandatory minicamp this week, Jon Heath of the USA Today reports.

    Advice: The report notes that Patrick -- who sustained a torn left Achilles late last July -- was one of the team's standout performers during Tuesday's session. As the coming campaign approaches, it remains to be seen what Patrick's role in Denver's offense will be, especially given that the 30-year-old last saw regular-season action in 2021. With Jerry Jeudy no longer in the mix, however, the pecking order behind top wideout Courtland Sutton has yet to be determined, which sets the stage for Patrick to vie for slotting in the coming months with Josh Reynolds, Troy Franklin, Marvin Mims, Lil'Jordan Humphrey, Brandon Johnson and Devaughn Vele.     Rams head coach Sean McVay said RB Blake Corum has “really stood out” in offseason practices.

    Advice: Corum, the 83rd overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, has drawn consistent praise from LA coaches over the past couple months as incumbent starter Kyren Williams deals with a lingering foot injury that has cost him all of OTAs and minicamp. “On the offensive side, I’ve been pleased with a lot of guys but Blake Corum has really stood out,” McVay said. “Mature beyond his years. I love the way that he handles himself. I love even more how when there’s been a couple of things that didn’t go the way we wanted, how he responded the next play. The mental toughness that you see from him.” It would be something of an upset if Corum didn’t at least split backfield work with Williams to start the regular season — assuming Williams is fully recovered.   • SEA HC wants to make DK Metcalf a ‘moving target’
    Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald said the team wants to make DK Metcalf a “moving target” in 2024.

    Advice: Macdonald told NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero he wants to get the ball to Metcalf “a lot” this season and said new offensive coordinator Ryan Grub would use Metcalf across the formation. “He’s a big, imposing, fast, powerful receiver,” Macdonald said, adding the team wants to ensure opposing defenses have to “account for [Metcalf] at all times but it’s gonna be hard to find him.” Metcalf ran 84 percent of his pass routes from the boundary in 2023, in line with his career rate. He saw only 12 targets from the slot last season. More creative usage for Metcalf — including, presumably, more slot work — could be a boost to his fantasy prospects in a Seattle offense that could be surprisingly pass heavy under Grubb, for former OC at the University of Washington.   • Earns chance in Jacksonville
    The Jaguars signed McGowan to a contract Friday.

    Advice: McGowan suited up for two games with Washington as a rookie back in 2022 but was cut by the team with an undisclosed injury prior to the 2023 season, and he hadn't been able to find a new landing spot until now.     Ford-Wheaton (shoulder) suffered an AC sprain during Tuesday's minicamp practice, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.

    Advice: Ford-Wheaton missed the entire 2023 season while rehabbing from a torn ACL, and while it appears he's completed rehab on his knee, the second-year pro is now dealing with a new injury. Coach Brian Daboll said Tuesday that he hopes every player on the Giants' roster will be ready for training camp, though, so Ford-Wheaton should be on track to return by late July.
