I just re-watched last years season finale debacle on GamePass. It was painful to watch, but also interesting with almost a year's perspective.
The best Cowboys' player on the field, by far, was TO. Made me appreciate his contributions to the team a little bit more.
Austin was showing signs of the star he's now turning out to be.
But the Eagles secondary played TO very close, and Austin hardly got in the game, so they were, along with pretty much everybody else, non-factors.
PunkMan was a catastrophe. A terrible liability to both the secondary and special teams. Small wonder he was released shortly after.
Interesting to see how far the special teams have progressed. Night and day.
Running game was in sync, but by the middle of the 2nd quarter it had to be abandoned.
The carelessness with which Romo handled the ball was just appalling. This is another area of vast improvement.
On the other hand, Roy Williams hasn't seemed to improve at all. His fuzzy route running and half-hearted attempts to catch the ball haven't changed. I'm starting to wonder if he's just not that good of a receiver.
So it seems to me that with our improvements in the defensive secondary and special teams, a healthy running back corp and Romo's much improved ball-handling care, Sunday's game is very winnable.
But Williams really needs to get his a$$ in gear, or move on. Time to start delivering on that big contract.
