  • Schefter: Zay Jones to visit Chiefs
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that former Jaguars WR Zay Jones is scheduled to meet with the Chiefs Thursday.

Advice: Jones has visited the Titans, Cardinals, and Cowboys so far in his free agency. He was released by the Jaguars after they added Brian Thomas in the 2024 NFL Draft. Though Jones battled injuries for much of last season, he hit a career-high 8-823-5 mark with the Jaguars in 2022. Meanwhile, the Chiefs may be without Rashee Rice for much of next season if he is suspended for his legal troubles. The 29-year-old Jones would add a bigger target for Patrick Mahomes in the Chiefs offense, which added Marquise Brown and Xavier Worthy as well. Kansas City will be the fourth city in Jones’ free agency tour. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:05 pm

  • Waived from IR
The Packers waived Pitts (undisclosed) from injured reserve with an injury settlement Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Advice: Pitts signed a reserve/futures contract with Green Bay in January. The 24-year-old was then waived with an injury designation Monday, and he reverted to the Packers' injured reserve after going unclaimed on waivers. While the nature of his injury is still unclear, Pitts will now be eligible to join up with a different team this offseason. He has yet to make his NFL debut. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:19 pm

  • Lands in Pittsburgh
Miller agreed to terms Wednesday on a one-year contract with the Steelers, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Advice: Miller reunites with offensive coordinator Arthur Smith in Pittsburgh, after he logged a 11-161-2 receiving line across 17 appearances in 2023 in Atlanta, where Smith had served as the head coach. The wideout now gets a chance to compete with names like Quez Watkins, Denzel Mims, Marquez Callaway and Dez Fitzpatrick for a depth role with the Steelers this offseason. • Let go by Dallas
The Cowboys informed Bryant on Wednesday that he will be released, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Advice: Bryant, who last suited up for an NFL game in 2018 with the Raiders, signed a reserve/future contract with Dallas earlier this offseason but will now have to search for an opportunity to reignite his career elsewhere. His release won't result in any dead money against the salary cap for the Cowboys, per Gehlken. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:22 am

  • Candidate for depth role
Shorter is in line to compete for depth slotting behind fellow wide receivers Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman and Curtis Samuel in training camp, Jay Skurski of The Buffalo News reports.

Advice: The Bills took Shorter in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, but he never saw game action after being placed on injured reserve ahead of the regular season on account of a hamstring injury. Though Shorter was designated to return from IR in December and resumed practicing with the team, he wasn't activated before his 21-day evaluation window closed. Now presumably past his hamstring injury, the 6-foot-4 wideout will vie with Chase Claypool, Mack Hollins, KJ Hamler, Andy Isabella and Quintez Cephus for a reserve role. • RapSheet: Niners want Brandon Aiyuk for long term
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports the 49ers are focused on keeping Brandon Aiyuk for the long term.

Advice: Despite rampant speculation and reporting that the team had dangled Aiyuk as a trade candidate before and during the NFL Draft, Rapoport said the 49ers view Aiyuk as a “key piece” of Kyle Shanahan’s offense and have no desire to ship him to another team (it should be noted that 49ers general manager John Lynch denied reports that the team entertained a pre-draft trade of Aiyuk). Rapoport suggested Aiyuk could land a long-term deal similar to Devonta Smith, who last month signed a three-year contract extension worth up to $75 million. It seems likely Aiyuk will remain with the Niners for at least the 2024 season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:10 am

  • Rice under investigation for alleged assault
WFAA News reports Chiefs WR Rashee Rice is under investigation for an alleged nightclub assault.

Advice: According to Dallas police, the incident took place early Monday morning when Rice allegedly struck a photographer in a nightclub known as Lit Kitchen. We don’t know much beyond the allegations at this point, but this is now the second time this offseason that Rice has found himself involved in legal trouble. His most notable incident came in late March when he was involved in a high-speed, multi-vehicle crash that resulted in eight charges being filed against him. We’ll see what comes up with this latest allegation, but Rice continues to trend toward some kind of suspension before the start of the season. Rotoworld Tuesday, 2:06 pm

  • Let go by Minnesota
The Vikings waived Baldwin on Tuesday.

Advice: Baldwin spent the entire 2023 campaign on Minnesota's practice squad and inked a reserve/future contract with the team back in January, but he'll now have to look for an opportunity to compete elsewhere. His lone NFL appearance came with the Browns in 2022. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 12:28 pm

  • Competing for depth chart slotting
Wallace figures to compete with newcomer Deonte Harty for depth chart slotting as the coming season approaches, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Per Zrebiec, Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman, Nelson Agholor and rookie fourth-rounder Devontez Walker currently profile as the team's top four wide receivers, while Wallace and Harty could be vying for the next slot, a potential summer competition that may hinge on whom the team deems more useful in the return game. Of course, injuries down the road could change that context, but as things stand Wallace doesn't have a clear path to an expanded role in the Ravens offense in 2024. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 11:59 am
