    • Keenan Allen open to playing for Bears beyond 2024
Keenan Allen said he is “absolutely” open to playing for the Bears beyond this upcoming season.

Advice: Allen, who was traded to the Bears earlier this week, is in the final year of the four-year extension he signed with the Chargers before the start of the 2020 season. Allen will be 32 at the start of this season but is coming off a year in which he totaled a career-high in receptions (108) and the second-most receiving yards of his career (1,243) despite playing in only 13 games. Allen would’ve turned in a career year across the board if not for an injury sidelining him for the final four weeks of the regular season. Regarding an extension with the Bears, Allen said the two sides will “get there down the line.” Rotoworld Saturday, 10:18 am

    • Restructures contract
Kittle and the 49ers have reached agreement on a restructured contract, Field Yates of ESPN reports.

Advice: This likely has no impact on Kittle's standing or future; it's probably just converting his base salary into bonus money and/or adding void years to clear up 2024 cap space. The 49ers have been tight up against the cap for a few seasons now, consistently in win-now mode with a star-studded roster that includes Kittle, Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk as playmakers on offense. An extension for Aiyuk could be on the docket this offseason, as he's scheduled to play out 2024 under the fifth-year option on his rookie contract. Kittle, meanwhile, has two years left on his deal. • Yates: Niners restructure Kittle’s contract
ESPN’s Field Yates reports the 49ers restructured George Kittle’s contract.

Advice: The move will save the team about $10 million against the salary cap in 2024. Kittle, 30, is signed through the 2025 season. An elite blocking tight end, Kittle in 2023 had 65 catches for 1,020 yards and six touchdowns, continuing to operate as one of the league’s best after the catch. Rotoworld Friday, 8:22 am

    • Losing key contributors
Herbert (finger) has lost the majority of his offensive playmakers with the departures of WRs Keenan Allen and Mike Williams, RB Austin Ekeler and TE Gerald Everett this offseason, Kris Rhim of ESPN.com reports.

Advice: That quartet accounted for 57 percent of Herbert's completions, pass yards and touchdowns last season. Still remaining on the roster are WRs Joshua Palmer and Quentin Johnston, the latter of whom is likely to be tasked up considerably in 2024. Coach Jim Harbaugh also is known for his desire to run the ball effectively, though Gus Edwards and Isaiah Spiller are an underwhelming duo atop the RB depth chart. All told, Herbert's supporting cast has taken a significant hit this offseason, even after taking into account that the team could be in line to draft a wide receiver or tight end Brock Bowers with the fifth overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. • Dealt to Bears
Allen (heel) was traded from the Chargers to the Bears in exchange for a fourth-round pick Thursday, Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reports.

Advice: Allen has been a key figure in the Chargers offense for the last 11 seasons, but salary cap problems and a new coaching staff and front office have caused the team to move on. Despite entering his age-32 season, Allen has shown few signs of decline, as he racked up 150 targets across only 13 games in 2023. He turned that into 1,243 yards and seven touchdowns while also tallying a career-best 19 receptions of at least 20 yards. Allen will face some questions on his new team, however, as DJ Moore is the established top pass catcher in the offense, meaning Allen could lose out on some of his prolific target volume. While the Bears are expected to draft Caleb Williams with the top overall pick, it's also still unclear who will be under center in Week 1. Rotowire.com Thursday, 7:27 pm

    • Blockbuster: Bears acquire Keenan Allen from Bolts
Bears acquired WR Keenan Allen from the Chargers in exchange for a 2024 fourth-round pick.

Advice: NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports the cap-strapped Chargers approached Allen about a pay cut from his scheduled $18.1 million salary, but that the veteran wideout understandably declined. It would seem Allen knew there would be a trade market for his services. He now departs the only franchise he’s ever known for a Bears organization that appears poised to select USC’s Caleb Williams at No. 1 overall. Chicago already has a legit WR1 in D.J. Moore, but they want to avoid the mistakes of so many other rookie-starting teams and surround Williams with as many weapons as possible to gain early-career momentum. Going on 32 with a history of hamstring injuries, Allen is nevertheless as consistent as it gets in the middle of the field when he stays on the field, something he did in 2023 until the Bolts threw in the towel late. It’s devastating for Justin Herbert, but Allen should be able to maintain WR2 PPR relevance even with Moore in the fold. Rotoworld Thursday, 7:22 pm

    • NFL investigating Eagles and Falcons for tampering
NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports the league is looking into “potential tampering by the Eagles and Falcons prior to the start of free agency.”

Advice: As Pelissero notes, this is the league’s standard procedure “in such matters.” Cousins and running back Saquon Barkley were both closely linked to the respective teams they signed with prior to the legal tampering window opening, but the . If either team is revealed to have tampered, the league could hand down disciplinary actions, but that will be determined based on their findings. Rotoworld Thursday, 9:31 am

    • Outlook looking up
London is positioned to benefit from improved quarterback play going forward, with Kirk Cousins (Achilles) having officially inked a four-year deal worth up to $180 million with the Falcons on Wednesday.

Advice: London has sketched solid behind-the-scenes metrics in each of his first two pro seasons. However, while having to endure a combination of Marcus Mariota, Desmond Ridder and Taylor Heinicke under center, the 2022 first-round pick has also failed to record a 1,000-yard receiving campaign yet. He finished his rookie season with a 72-866-4 line while playing all 17 games, and 2023 with a 69-905-2 line in one less contest. Even coming off an Achilles tear at 35 years old, Cousins promises reliable passing production, with London, Kyle Pitts and Bijan Robinson as his go-to playmakers, in addition to recent addition Darnell Mooney. Cousins threw for 4,000-plus passing yards in seven of his last eight seasons from 2015-22, and regularly hovered around the 30-touchdown range. Considering his improved situation, London figures to be a popular breakout candidate in 2024 fantasy drafts, one who it wouldn't be surprising to see come off the board top-10 at his position. • Aiming to be 100 percent by June
Cousins (Achilles) said Wednesday during his introductory news conference with the Falcons that he's "optimistic to be full speed at practice" by the end of the offseason program in June, Tori McElhaney of the Falcons' official site reports.

Advice: Considering Cousins suffered a torn right Achilles' tendon Oct. 29 during a Week 8 win at Green Bay, he may be hard-pressed to be completely healthy once Atlanta completes mandatory minicamp. More realistically, he'll be able to handle most of the first-team reps during training camp and even get some run in the preseason as he transitions to the third team of his career. When he's healthy, Cousins will have ample skill talent at his disposal in the form of running backs Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier, wideout Drake London and tight end Kyle Pitts. All four players have exactly one campaign with at least 900 yards from scrimmage, which should help Cousins dabble with 4,000-plus passing yards like he did seven times in eight seasons from 2015 through 2022.
