  • Eagles acquire RB/KR Barner from Panthers
Eagles acquired RB/KR Kenjon Barner from the Panthers in exchange for a conditional seventh-round pick in 2015.

Advice: The pick is likely contingent on Barner making the 53-man roster. Barner was on the outs in Carolina, but played for Eagles coach Chip Kelly at Oregon, and offers some badly needed depth at running back. His acquisition could be curtains for Chris Polk in Philly if Polk can't get healthy. Polk has missed the majority of camp with a hamstring injury. A 2013 sixth-rounder, Barner managed only six carries across eight games. He missed time with a foot issue. Rotoworld.com

The Union-Tribune San Diego calls Malcom Floyd the "runaway" MVP of Chargers camp.

Advice: The UTSD gave Floyd the same designation for OTAs and minicamp. Going on 33 and coming off a season where he was limited to two games by a severe neck injury, Floyd isn't going to be a fantasy dynamo, but is worth monitoring as a WR5/6. Even if Floyd returns to his vintage form, the Bolts are going with a run-heavy offense, and featuring Keenan Allen in the passing game. Rotoworld.com

NJ.com's Jordan Raanan believes it's "not looking good" for Odell Beckham (hamstring) to be ready for the regular season.

Advice: We're considering Beckham "out indefinitely" after his latest hamstring setback. With Jerrel Jernigan not earning points from the coaching staff in camp, Victor Cruz and Rueben Randle should open the year as target monsters in New York's shaky passing attack. Beckham isn't worth a flier in re-draft leagues. Rotoworld.com

Rookie RB Jeremy Hill is practicing at Bengals camp after suffering a shoulder injury in Saturday night's preseason game.

Advice: Hill tweeted after the game that his shoulder is "fine," and he's practicing without limitations. Bengals beat writer Paul Dehner has projected Hill for 10-15 carries per game this season, but to this point Giovani Bernard has handled every single first-team exhibition game rep. We'll keep a close eye on Hill's usage in the Bengals' regular season dress rehearsal. The rookie power back has 52 yards on nine carries (5.78 YPC) and two receptions for 13 yards through two preseason games. Bernard has 10-32, with two catches for 15 yards. Rotoworld.com

Advice: Beat writer Paul Dehner believes it "doesn't look good" for Burkhead, who left Saturday night's preseason game with a knee injury and didn't return. If Burkhead's injury is major -- and early indications point to that -- BenJarvus Green-Ellis' roster spot could be safe in Cincinnati. Advice: Polk believes his roster spot is in danger. "There's nothing guaranteed," Polk said Tuesday. "I wasn't drafted. I'm not LeSean McCoy, Nick Foles, I'm not guaranteed anything." It's an admirable, but risky, attitude. Polk would ultimately have more to lose than gain by practicing at less than 100 percent. The Eagles are unlikely to let him. But being that he practiced last week and came up lame in Monday's practice, forcing him to ride the stationary bike Tuesday, there's no other way to term it than as a setback. We just have to do a better job of executing." Cruz hasn't caught a single pass through three preseason games and dropped a deep ball over the weekend. Rueben Randle has one catch for 12 yards. The only receiver making any noise is UDFA Corey Washington, who has three scores. We still like Cruz as a high-volume pass catcher in OC Ben McAdoo's scheme that should fit Cruz well. Rotoworld.com

Johnny Manziel was caught on camera giving the Redskins' bench the middle finger during Monday night's preseason game.

Manziel said he had "words exchanged" with the Redskins all night, and CB Joe Haden defended his rookie quarterback, saying he took a lot of abuse from Washington's players and fanss Per Redskins FS Ryan Clark, what set off Manziel was Washington players telling him "this isn't college anymore, we're faster than you." Still, Manziel needs to keep his composure. It didn't sit well with coach Mike Pettine, and certainly won't win Manziel any points in the quarterback derby. Terrance West rushed for 31 yards on eight carries in the Browns' second preseason game Monday night versus Washington.

Advice: West was the second back through the Browns' rotation behind Ben Tate, but didn't see meaningful work until the second half. Tate played the majority of the snaps in the first half and out-touched West 10-1 before the break. Tate is the clear leader here, but West has a ton of talent. He had a couple nice runs against the Skins, one barreling head-on into and running over a defensive back and another where he spun off the back of one of his linemen and picked up a good chunk of yards. If Tate were to go down, West would be next man up. Rotoworld.com

Johnny Manziel completed 7-of-16 passes for 65 yards and one touchdown in Cleveland's second preseason game against the Redskins on Monday night.

Advice: Brian Hoyer got the start and wasn't any better. He and Manziel both struggled throughout the first half, as they rotated every two series. The two combined to go 4-of-13 for 45 yards in the first half, and each had a QB rating under 45. Manziel played a couple series in the second half against the Redskins' backups, leading a 16-play touchdown drive that was finished off by a Dion Lewis eight-yard catch-and-run score. Marrone always treats injury information like a state secret, but it's notable nonetheless. The Bills originally called Watkins' injury a "bruise," but were less forthright on Monday.
