    • LeGarrette Blount limited on Thursday
LeGarrette Blount (shoulder) remained limited in Thursday's practice.

Advice: Blount's Week 16 availability isn't in doubt, but his role is muddled with the re-emergence of Jonas Gray. Blount will be a touchdown-dependent FLEX play for the fantasy finals. Players who are still alive in season-long leagues need to do better. Rotoworld.com

Frank Gore is "moving through the concussion protocol," and expected to start Saturday's game against the Chargers.

Advice: Gore practiced on Thursday, getting in a limited session. It's excellent news for the 49ers, as Carlos Hyde (ankle, back) is expected to be sidelined. Struggling mightily in the second half of the season, Gore will be a middling FLEX play for the fantasy finals. He'll be backed up by FB Bruce Miller and Alfonso Smith. Rotoworld.com

Advice: It would appear Bush is the healthiest he's been all season, but it won't matter much from a fantasy perspective since he's so far behind Joique Bell on the depth chart. Bush is a rocky RB3 who needs to catch 5-6 passes to have any value. Rotoworld.com

    • Jay Cutler realistic about Bears future
Speaking Thursday, Jay Cutler said he hopes to remain with the Bears beyond 2014, but admitted that it's "definitely" crossed his mind that he may have played his final game in Chicago.

Advice: Admitting he was disappointed by the first benching of his football-playing career, Cutler was realistic about his future in the Windy City. Cutler's seven-year, $126.7 million deal will get labeled as impossible to trade, but that's not necessarily true in a league so starved for quarterback talent. It will only take one team to believe it has what it takes to jump-start Cutler's career. Releasing Cutler isn't a realistic option for the Bears, as they'd absorb $19 million in dead money. Cutler is due a fully guaranteed $15.5 million in 2015. Rotoworld.com

    • Trestman: Clausen is one-week experiment
Speaking Thursday, Bears coach Marc Trestman left the door open for benched QB Jay Cutler to start in Week 17.

Advice: "This is for this week," Trestman said. "We're not going any farther than our preparation for Detroit." Trestman is clearly trying to keep Cutler's spirits up, but barring a total face-plant from Jimmy Clausen, we'd expect Cutler to remain on the pine for Week 17. Trestman went on to say he believed Cutler could be "revived" from the benching, hinting he's expected to remain the team's quarterback in 2015. That's probably an honest belief, but it's unlikely to be Trestman's decision to make. Clausen doesn't give the Bears a better chance to win than Cutler, but leading the league in turnovers and regressing on a weekly basis, Cutler has little room to complain about being benched. Advice: Barring a setback, D-Will should return after a two-game absence, though the Panthers aren't sure how he'll fare in the passing game. In theory, he'll cut into Jonathan Stewart's workload, but we wouldn't be surprised if Williams is nothing more than a breather option for J-Stew, who has run well in Williams' absence. Cam Newton (back) was a full participant in Thursday's practice, and is "on target" to start Sunday's game against the Browns.

Advice: Barring a setback, coach Ron Rivera expects Newton to "probably" start over Derek Anderson. It's a huge boost for the Panthers as they try to stay alive in the NFC South. Newton had his best game of the season in Week 14 before his car accident, but will be a borderline QB1 if he suits up for the fantasy finals. His health is obviously a question mark, and the Browns sport a stouter defense than New Orleans. Rotoworld.com

CBS' Jason La Canfora says "every expectation" is that Case Keenum will start Sunday's game against the Ravens.

Advice: Bill O'Brien isn't tipping his hand between Keenum and Thad Lewis. But Keenum makes more sense as he was with the team throughout the offseason program and training camp before losing his backup job to Tom Savage and Ryan Mallett. However, Keenum was brutal in four preseason games going 28-of-52 (53.8%) for 254 yards (4.88 YPA) with zero touchdowns and two interceptions, good for a 51.3 passer rating. • Bears bench Cutler, Clausen to start Week 16
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Bears will start Jimmy Clausen over Jay Cutler in Week 16 against the Lions.

Advice: The Bears are benching Cutler just 14 starts into his seven-year, $127 million extension. Per NFL Network's Mike Silver, coach Marc Trestman felt he could no longer start Cutler "simply to justify a contract" when his on-field play was so poor. Cutler regressed in his second season in Trestman's offense, leading the NFL in turnovers (24). Owed a fully guaranteed $15.5 million next year, the Bears' only option is to trade Cutler this offseason if they want to move on from him. Chicago would absorb $19 million in dead money by releasing Cutler before 2016. Rotoworld.com

Jay Cutler completed 17-of-31 passes for 194 yards, two touchdowns, and three interceptions in the Bears' 31-15, Week 15 loss to the Saints on Monday night.

Advice: The matchup couldn't have been much better for Cutler, but he predictably went all DGAF on us and took seven sacks, missed open receivers, and turned the ball over another three times. Both of his touchdowns came late in the fourth quarter. He hooked up with Marquess Wilson for a one-yard score to bring the score to 24-8, and then found Alshon Jeffery for the garbagiest of garbage-time touchdowns from seven yards out with 30 ticks left on the clock. Charles Clay caught 6-of-7 targets for 59 yards in the Dolphins' Week 15 loss to the Patriots.

Advice: It was an average day for Clay, who has found the end zone only twice this season. He'll be a low-risk, moderate-reward TE2 for the fantasy finals. Rotoworld.com

    • Harry Douglas goes 10-131 in place of Julio
Harry Douglas caught 10 passes for 131 yards in the Falcons' 27-20, Week 15 loss to the Steelers.

Advice: Drawing the start in place of an injured Julio Jones (hip) opposite a banged up Roddy White, Douglas was targeted a game-high 14 times. His longest gain went fro 41 yards on a screen pass to the left that set the Falcons up inside the 10-yard line. White eventually scored from four yards out a couple plays later. Douglas has shown time and again that he's a quality option if either Jones or White doesn't play. If Jones is out again in Week 16 against the Saints, Douglas will be a WR2 option for fantasy title week. He gets a boost in PPR. Rotoworld.com

DeAngelo Williams (questionable, hand) might be able to play in an "emergency situation" on Sunday against the Bucs.

Advice: In other words, he won't play unless the Panthers face an emergency. Coach Ron Rivera confirmed Friday Jonathan Stewart will get the start, and he should be a borderline every-down back in a game that should either be close or in Carolina's favor enough that OC Mike Shula is able to ride his running game with volume. Stewart is a quality RB2/flex play against Tampa Bay. Rotoworld.com

    • Bears OC Kromer admits he criticized Cutler
Bears OC Aaron Kromer admitted to the team on Monday that he was an anonymous source in a recent NFL Network report criticizing Jay Cutler.

Advice: That would be Ian Rapoport's "serious buyer's remorse" report, though a "tearful" Kromer "adamantly denied" making the buyer's remorse comments. Whatever Kromer did or didn't exactly say, it's a stunning admission, and indicative of Raiders/Redskins-level dysfunction in Chicago. It's appearing less and less likely that coach Marc Trestman is going to keep his job. Not only has his defense collapsed, but his once-prolific offense has bordered on unwatchable many times over the past 5-6 weeks. Kromer's unprofessional act is going to earn him sideways glances the next time he's looking for a job. Rotoworld.com

Advice: Newton has yet to be formally ruled out for Week 15, but that should happen on Friday. The real question is his Week 16 status. Advice: "Probably" was Rivera's answer when asked if D-Will was another week away despite his Thursday return to practice. "Probably" from a coach equals "absolutely" in regular English. Cam Newton was released from the Carolinas Medical Center on Wednesday morning after spending the night in the hospital following his Tuesday car accident.

Advice: The Panthers are calling Newton day-to-day. He's dealing with general soreness and two fractured transverse processes in his back. Newton is fully expected to sit out Week 15 against the Bucs, leaving Derek Anderson in the saddle as the starter. Anderson completed 24-of-34 passes for 230 yards and two touchdowns in a Week 1 spot start against Tampa Bay. He'll be on the DFS radar at minimum price. Advice: Asiata out-touched Ben Tate and Joe Banyard 22-5. He averaged only 2.8 yards per carry, and managed all of 10 yards on three catches. Speaking Monday, Bears coach Marc Trestman insisted the team has "never wavered" on Jay Cutler as its starting quarterback.

Advice: Trestman's endorsement comes one day after NFL Network reported the Bears were having "serious buyer's remorse" after giving Cutler a seven-year, $126.7 million deal in January. Cutler is on pace for 4,241 yards, and a new career-best 32 scores, but his play has gone in the gutter during the second half of the season. The majority of his numbers have been amassed in garbage time, with Cutler mostly limited to dinking and dunking with games still in doubt. Cutler turns 32 in April. Rotoworld.com

Advice: Williams is dealing with a fractured bone at the base of his middle finger. For now, we'll consider him questionable for Week 15. Of course, the Panthers would be far better off sitting down Williams and just riding Jonathan Stewart, who has quietly been playing at an elite level all season. He finally got to spread his wings against the Saints Sunday and dropped a 20-155-1 line. He failed to convert on his only goal-line chance, and wasn't able to get anything going in the second half. Blount is averaging 15 touches per game since coming over from the Steelers.
