  • Rams still trying to keep RB plans a secret
Rams OC Brian Schottenheimer said all of his running backs will "have roles for us," and he'll continue to treat it as a week-to-week situation.

Advice: "I think that’s kind of good for us," Schottenheimer said. "For a defense not to know who they’ve got to prepare for. To know that at any moment it might be a different guy out there." Schottenheimer isn't fooling anyone. Anybody with working eyeballs can see Tre Mason is the Rams' most talented runner. If the Rams want to put the ball in Zac Stacy or Benny Cunningham's hands, they're playing to the defense's advantage. We're not -- and more importantly, defensive coordinators aren't -- buying Schottenheimer's mind trick. Mason's the guy. Rotoworld.com

Free agent QB Kevin Kolb has retired from the NFL.

Advice: Kolb, 30, recounts four known concussions in the NFL, with the final one coming last preseason on his 29th birthday. It ended his career. Kolb says the after-effects of the concussions still haunt him today. He deals with constant ringing in his ears that he compares to "someone shooting a shotgun right next to my ear, every second of every day," sensitivity to light, and short-term memory loss. • Cunningham (knee) pops up on injury report
Benny Cunningham was added to the Rams' injury report on Thursday, getting in a limited session with a knee issue.

Advice: It suggests Cunningham tweaked something in Thursday's practice, though it's unclear if that's the case. The Rams are one of the most lightly-covered teams in the league, so we might not gain clarity until Friday's injury report. A "DNP" on Friday would spell doom for Cunningham's Week 8 chances, while another "limited" to go along with a "questionable" tag would be inconclusive. Regardless of his health, Cunningham can't be trusted as more than an RB3. Rotoworld.com

Cadet, a strict passing back, has been integrated into the gameplan early over the last three weeks anyway, posting a 15-129-1 line through the air. Advice: Benny Cunningham played 19 snaps and Zac Stacy got one. It's clear that Mason has surged to the front of the pile here as the most talented natural runner and is a must-add, but there are major concerns -- most notably in the form of game flow. Mason is a zero in the pass game, which we know is a red flag when a team gets behind. See Andre Williams, Alfred Morris and even Marshawn Lynch for evidence of that. In the old Dennis Pitta role, Daniels offers minimal week-to-week upside but is very much involved under tight end-friendly OC Gary Kubiak. Advice: After shining last Monday night on nine snaps, Mason was handed the reins against Seattle, out-touching Benny Cunningham 18-7, while Zac Stacy rode the bench, playing one snap and not registering a touch. It sure looks like a changing of the guard. After picking up 24 yards on his first NFL carry last week, Mason ripped off a 28-yarder Sunday. With Fauria out with an ankle injury and Ebron doubtful with a hamstring, the Lions may have no choice but to get Pettigrew more involved. Even so, he is nothing more than a low-ceiling TE2. • Pierre Thomas listed as probable
Pierre Thomas (illness) is listed as probable for Week 7.

Advice: Thomas didn't get in much practice time this week, but the Saints fully expect him to be available for Sunday's game against the Lions. Thomas remains a flex option in PPR leagues. His standard-league production is much more sporadic. Rotoworld.com

Shonn Greene (hamstring, doubtful) missed practice again Friday.

Advice: Despite officially being listed as "doubtful" for the second straight week, he will not play against the Redskins. Bishop Sankey will continue to handle lead back work with Dexter McCluster and Leon Washington mixing in. Rotoworld.com

Harry Douglas (foot) has been ruled out for Week 7 against the Ravens.

  • Eric Ebron (hamstring) not practicing again Fr
Eric Ebron (hamstring) remained sidelined at Friday's practice.

Advice: Ebron tweaked his hamstring in Wednesday's practice and has missed the last two sessions. Coach Jim Caldwell didn't seem optimistic about the rookie's chances of playing Week 7. Golden Tate, Reggie Bush, and Corey Fuller will be Matthew Satfford's top three targets with Calvin Johnson (ankle) also likely out. Rotoworld.com

  • Report: Greene (hamstring) out for Week 7
ESPN's Adam Caplan reports Shonn Greene (hamstring) will miss Week 7.

Advice: This became self-evident after Greene missed his second-consecutive practice on Thursday. Bishop Sankey will get the start against the Redskins, and serve as a solid FLEX option. Rotoworld.com

Pierre Thomas (illness) missed Thursday's practice.

Advice: It's not a concern for Thomas' Week 7 status. He'll almost certainly be listed as "probable" on Friday's injury report. He'll be good to go as a FLEX option against the Lions. Rotoworld.com

  • Ebron (hamstring) downgraded to DNP Thursday
Eric Ebron (hamstring) was downgraded to "DNP" on Thursday.

Advice: It's a really bad sign after Ebron tweaked his hamstring in Wednesday's practice. He now appears likely to miss Week 7. With Joseph Fauria (ankle) also sidelined, the Lions could be forced to dust off Brandon Pettigrew in the passing game. It's not good news for Matthew Stafford, who is already without Calvin Johnson. There's no timetable for Harry Douglas' return from a foot injury.

Advice: Douglas has missed the last three games with a deep bruise in his left foot and hasn't resumed practicing. Devin Hester has filled in with a 8-109-1 line during that span as the No. 3 wideout. Rotoworld.com

  • Payton won't say how carries will shake out
When asked how running carries will be distributed Sunday, coach Sean Payton said, "we will kind of see how we handle that."

Advice: Mark Ingram's return from a broken hand is obviously awful news for Khiry Robinson. Ingram was running at an elite level before his injury and it's not like he's coming off a knee or ankle issue. We expect him to hit the ground running as the primary big back, leaving Robinson for something like 6-8 touches against the Lions. Rotoworld.com

Eric Ebron (hamstring) was limited in Wednesday's practice.

Advice: It's a new injury for Ebron, but he shouldn't be in danger of missing Sunday's game against the Saints. Ebron played 47-of-70 snaps in Week 6. Rotoworld.com

  • Lions not planning increased Pettigrew looks
The Lions have no plans to increase Brandon Pettigrew's role as a pass catcher.

Advice: Pettigrew averaged 100 targets from 2010-13, but has drawn just eight looks through six games. That, of course, is how the Lions drew up it when they spent their first-round pick on Eric Ebron and brought back Pettigrew to block. Neither Ebron nor Joseph Fauria has made much of an impact as a receiver, but Pettigrew was always amongst the league's least efficient players as a pass catcher. Rotoworld.com

  • Kenny Britt goes 3-39 in Week 6 loss
Kenny Britt caught three passes for 39 yards in the Rams' Week 6 loss to the 49ers.

Advice: With Brian Quick mostly a non-factor, Britt saw five targets to finish second on the team to Jared Cook. He did his damage of ins and crossing patterns over the middle. Britt is the third or fourth option in the passing game. He's a WR5. Rotoworld.com

  • Cunningham scores one-yard TD in MNF loss
Benny Cunningham rushed for 21 yards and one touchdown on seven carries in the Rams' Week 6 loss to the 49ers.

Advice: Cunningham was the second back in the game behind Zac Stacy, as usual, and he got the lone goal-line carry for the Rams and punched it in from one yard away to kick off the game's scoring. Carries were split 8-7-5 to Stacy, Cunningham, and rookie Tre Mason, respectively. This could turn into a full-blown committee. It was clear watching Monday's game that Mason has the most talent.
