    • Says goodbye to Baltimore
Beckham posted a goodbye message to Baltimore and Ravens fans on Instagram this Sunday, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.

Advice: The implication is that Beckham will find a new team rather than re-sign with the Ravens. He was reasonably productive on a per-snap basis in his one year with the team -- his 2.03 yards per route ranked 26th among WRs with at least 200 routes -- but he never reached 60 percent snap share in a game after Week 1 and had only 34 yards in two playoff appearances. The 31-year-old may end up in a part-time role again in 2024, though it's also possible a new team would see if he can hold up to a typical starter's workload. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:00 am

    • Odell Beckham bids farewell to Baltimore
In a post on his official Instagram page, free agent WR Odell Beckham Jr. appears to have bid an official farewell to the Ravens.

Advice: Beckham was already a free agent, but the possibility of a return to the Ravens appeared to be on the table prior to his post. Beckham thanked the city and team for the opportunity to play for them in 2023, saying he appreciates “the Flock more than yall could EVER imagine.” Whether or not this means Beckham has a new landing spot lined up for 2024 is to be determined, but the 31-year-old receiver could have a market as a discount WR2 for the right team. The Jets could be a team to watch after they , but we may need to wait until after the draft to see which team is interested in his services. Rotoworld Sunday, 5:46 pm

    • Report: Four teams bid on Sam Howell
The Athletic’s Ben Standig reports four teams “were involved in the bidding process” on Sam Howell before he was traded to the Seahawks.

Advice: Even after a disastrous 2023 campaign in which Howell threw 21 interceptions and held on to the ball at a league-leading rate, four teams were in talks with Washington about acquiring the third-year quarterback. That the Seahawks won that multi-team bidding war could mean the team sees promise in Howell, 23, though Seattle general manager John Schneider said Thursday that the team did not acquire Howell to compete with Geno Smith for starting duties in 2024. Standig said the Commanders’ new regime was out on Howell right away, looking to start a rebuild with a top quarterback in the 2024 NFL Draft. Rotoworld Friday, 6:05 am

    • Schneider confirms Howell won’t compete with Geno
Seahawks GM John Schneider confirmed trade addition Sam Howell was not acquired to compete with Geno Smith.

Advice: This was probably obvious to most, but the idea had some purchase on social media after the Seahawks ever-so-slightly slow played Geno’s going-forward status this offseason. Howell had all the makings of a career backup in 2023, displaying some genuine play-making ability but demonstrating far too many valleys to go along with his peaks. He can come off the bench and win a game, but Smith is the vastly superior option for 2024. Rotoworld Thursday, 4:38 pm

    • Headed for Seattle
The Commanders are sending Howell, a fourth-round draft pick and a sixth-rounder to the Seahawks in exchange for third and fifth-round draft choices, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Advice: With Howell no longer in the mix, Washington figures to use the No. 2 overall pick in April's NFL Draft on a new franchise QB. Meanwhile, Howell, who started all 17 of the Commanders' regular-season games in 2023, fills the void created by Drew Lock's departure in free agency and gives the Seahawks an alternative to incumbent No. 1 signal-caller Geno Smith. • Commanders deal Sam Howell to Seahawks for picks
Commanders traded QB Sam Howell to the Seahawks in exchange for 2024 third and fifth-round picks.

Advice: The Howell experiment is one-and-done in Washington, as the former fifth-round pick now gets a chance to start over in Seattle. Howell led the league in pass attempts (612), interceptions (21), and sacks (65) last season and was rapidly approaching the NFL sack record for the first half of the season. Howell and the Commanders won just four games in 2023, securing them the No. 2 overall pick in this year’s draft, which will presumably be used on a quarterback. In exchange for Howell, the Commanders received the No. 78 and No. 152 overall pick in next month’s draft, giving them six picks in the top 100. Howell will get a “chance” to compete with Geno Smith for the Seahawks’ starting gig, although it’d be surprising to see him win out over Smith, who threw for 3,624-20-9 last season. In addition to Howell, the Commanders also sent 2024 fourth and fifth-round picks to the Seahawks. Rotoworld Thursday, 1:07 pm

    • Ravens make release of Odell Beckham official
ESPN’s Field Yates reports Ravens WR Odell Beckham Jr. officially became a free agent after the team released him overnight with a post-June 1 designation.

Advice: This news doesn’t come as a surprise, as OBJ was always expected to be cut at the start of the new league year after the Ravens reworked his one-year deal in January. As The Athletic’s Jeff Zrebiec points out, OBJ is now free to sign with any team and does not come with any compensation pick attached to his release. Beckham totaled 35 receptions for 565 yards and three touchdowns last season, showing occasional flashes of his old self while going unnoticed at other times in Todd Monken’s offense. The 31-year-old vet could still offer some upside as a reliable WR2 in a good offense but is far from the high-end receiver we saw during his days in New York. Rotoworld Thursday, 9:41 am

    • Released by Ravens
The Ravens released Beckham on Wednesday, Ryan Mink of the team's official site reports.

Advice: Beckham signed a one-year, $15 million contract last offseason, with void years tacked on to push the cap hit to 2024. He then renegotiated this winter to allow the Ravens to designate him as a post-June 1 release and spread the dead cap charge between 2024 and 2025. That also means Beckham won't factor into the compensatory pick formula, as he technically was released rather than having his contract expire. The 31-year-old caught 35 passes for 565 yards and three TDs in 2023, rotating with Rashod Bateman and Nelson Agholor in a WR room where Zay Flowers was the only full-time player. Ravens coach John Harbaugh has already suggested Flowers and Bateman will be the starters in 2024, though that doesn't necessarily preclude Beckham re-signing and taking on a similar role to what he had last year. • Could be traded soon
The Commanders' recent contract agreement with Marcus Mariota suggests Howell may be on the trade block, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.

Advice: The other interpretation, which seems less likely, is that the Commanders will let Howell compete with Mariota for the starting job rather than drafting a quarterback early this April. The team owns the No. 2 overall pick, with most reports to date suggesting Washington will select either UNC's Drake Maye or LSU's Jayden Daniels. There was a point in 2023 when it looked like the Commanders might have found their franchise QB in Howell, but he then had a 4:12 TD:INT over the final seven games of the regular season while completing only 57.7 percent of his passes for 5.4 yards per attempt. Washington went 0-7 during that stretch. The 2022 fifth-round pick ended up starting all 17 games, but only because backup Jacoby Brissett suffered a hamstring injury in practice shortly after being promoted to the No. 1 spot on the depth chart. Howell should have suitors if the Commanders decide to trade him, given that he has two years left on his rookie contract and averaged 278.3 passing yards and 1.7 TDs over the first 10 games of 2023. That said, the best he can likely hope for is a shot to compete with another player for a starting job. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 1:51 pm
