  • Manziel's ex: He beat & threatened to kill me
According to the police affidavit signed by alleged victim Colleen Crowley, Johnny Manziel beat and threatened to kill Crowley on January 29.

Advice: Manziel's ex-girlfriend, Crowley filed the affidavit as part of a request for a restraining order against Johnny Football. Crowley alleges Manziel hit her so hard he ruptured her eardrum and caused what's so far been permanent hearing loss in Crowley's left ear. Crowley also accuses Manziel of preventing her from leaving a Dallas hotel room and grabbing her by the hair and throwing Crowley into a vehicle. "Shut up or I'll kill us both," Manziel allegedly told Crowley at one point. Manziel and Crowley dated for two years and lived together for four months in Cleveland before the Dallas incident. Manziel agreed to the restraining order, which forbids him from seeing Crowley for two years. Police are still investigating whether Manziel should be arrested for domestic violence. • Report: 'No chance' Eagles reacquire Foles
The Philadelphia Daily News' Les Bowen reports the Eagles are not interested in reacquiring Rams QB Nick Foles.

Advice: ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Sunday new coach Doug Pederson was interested in the Eagles' former quarterback, but a source told Bowen, "There is no chance the team will reacquire Foles." If accurate, it is the right decision by Philadelphia. Foles has not shown anything the last two seasons to suggest he is markedly better than current No. 2 Mark Sanchez, and trading even a late-round pick to acquire what looks like a bad contract is not a sound way to build a football team. The Rams are likely stuck with Foles until they can get out of his contract next offseason. Rotoworld.com Today, 7:07 am

  • Eagles source denies Bradford, Foles report
The Philadelphia Inquirer's Zach Berman reports the Eagles have not decided whether to use the franchise tag on impending free agent Sam Bradford.

Advice: ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the Eagles had already decided not to use the franchise tag on Bradford, but a source denied those claims. Schefter's report also said new coach Doug Pederson was interested in bringing Nick Foles back to Philadelphia, but Berman's source said the team has not discussed their former quarterback. This saga has a long way to go, but it would not be surprising if the Eagles balked at Bradford's price tag and pursued other options. Rotoworld.com Today, 6:55 am

Advice: "I'll keep doing it for a few more weeks, and then, at the appropriate time, I think I'll make a decision," Manning said. "I have to tell you, though, I'm very much at peace with it." Manning has cited former coach Tony Dungy's advice not to make an emotional decision as his reason for delaying the announcement. • Cam dominated by Denver D in Super Bowl loss
Cam Newton completed 18-of-41 passes for 265 yards and an interception as the Panthers fell to the Broncos 24-10 in Super Bowl 50, adding six carries for 45 yards but also losing two fumbles.

Advice: Cam showed nerves right away, airmailing his first pass far above the head of a wide-open Corey Brown. The Broncos got to Newton on Carolina's second drive, as Von Miller strip sacked him in the end zone where DT Malik Jackson recovered for an early 10-0 lead. Cam finally got the offense going five drives in, hitting Brown for a 20-yard sideline catch before gaining 11 and 12 yards on consecutive scrambles. Another Brown catch set up Jonathan Stewart's one-yard touchdown. Cam's third-quarter interception deflected off Ted Ginn's hands and into the arms of Broncos ILB Danny Trevathan. Super Bowl MVP Miller tortured Carolina, recording a second strip sack of Cam in the fourth quarter at Carolina's four-yard line. The Broncos tied a Super Bowl record with seven team sacks, humbling Newton after his MVP season. Newton will turn 27 in May. He figures to be one of the first three quarterbacks off the board in 2016 fantasy drafts. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 7:44 pm

  • Peyton, Broncos upset Panthers 24-10 in SB50
Peyton Manning completed 13-of-23 passes for 141 yards and an interception in the Broncos' Super Bowl win over the Panthers, 24-10.

Advice: A six-point pre-game underdog and the oldest starting quarterback in Super Bowl history, Peyton came out firing with passes on each of the Broncos' first five plays. Although Manning eventually settled into ball-control mode, the game script played directly into Denver's hands as the Broncos' defense strip-sacked Cam Newton for a first-quarter touchdown and Jordan Norwood returned a punt 61 yards. Teams that score defensive TDs in a Super Bowl are now 16-2 all time. Manning threw a second-quarter pick to Panthers DE Kony Ealy on a well-designed zone drop by DC Sean McDermott, but Carolina's offense couldn't capitalize versus Denver's shutdown defense. Although Super Bowl MVP Von Miller and Denver's defense and special teams were more responsible for this win, Peyton can now ride into the sunset with two Super Bowl rings. • Schefter: Nick Foles back on Eagles' radar
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports new Eagles coach Doug Pederson is "interested" in bringing Nick Foles back to Philadelphia.

Advice: The quarterback wheels are spinning in Philly. Schefter reported Sunday the Eagles are no longer planning to franchise tag Sam Bradford, and now it looks like Pederson is gearing up for a reunion with Foles. Pederson was the Eagles' quarterbacks coach when the team drafted Foles in 2012. Foles is coming off a dreadful year in St. Louis, but the $7.75 million he'll make in 2016 is far less than what Bradford will command in free agency. It's unclear what the Rams would be looking for in a trade for Foles. The Rams benched Foles down the stretch last year, deciding Case Keenum was a better option. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 9:29 am

  • Eagles not expected to franchise Sam Bradford
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Eagles are not expected to use the franchise tag on Sam Bradford.

Advice: The Eagles may have to do some cap gymnastics after signing Zach Ertz, Brent Celek, Lane Johnson and Vinny Curry to long-term extensions. The projected franchise number for quarterbacks is $19.7 million, which is actually less than Bradford asked for when the two sides were negotiating during the season. • Cam Newton wins 2015 Most Valuable Player
Associated Press named Cam Newton its 2015 Most Valuable Player.

Advice: Newton was the clear MVP frontrunner, throwing for 3,837 yards and a 35:10 TD/INT ratio in the regular season. He rushed for 636 yards (4.8 YPC) and 10 touchdowns, making him the first player in NFL history to post 30-plus pass touchdowns and 10 rushing TDs. Newton’s career highs came without top WR Kelvin Benjamin (ACL). His play elevated a middling cast to a 15-win season and Super Bowl appearance. The men allegedly worried Sly's sister enough for her to call police, but Sly had nothing but good things to say about the investigators. "Those guys were great guys," Sly said. • Archie and Eli weigh in on Peyton's retirement

"But I think that was going to be a lot of drama, again, to change teams, that he didn't want to go through. He did do that once, so I don't know that he would want to do that." Eli agreed that playing for a different team would be "tough" for Peyton. All signs are pointing to Sunday being Peyton's last game. ESPN's Rich Cimini reports the "feeling" around Denver is the Broncos will attempt to re-sign impending free agent Brock Osweiler.

Advice: Osweiler gave back the starting job to Peyton Manning after a lackluster run in the middle of the season, but the Broncos are looking at a bleak situation at quarterback moving forward. Manning will likely retire after the Super Bowl, and the Broncos will not want to pay him $19 million or eat his $21.5 million cap hit even if he decides to play another season. • Report: Rams keeping eye on Peyton Manning
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Rams "have had internal discussions" about signing Peyton Manning and are "monitoring the situation."

Advice: The Rams are desperate for quarterback help, and nothing screams making a splash in their return to L.A. like signing Manning, even if he is merely a shell of his former self. And that may be generous. Manning turns 40 next month, and he and coach Jeff Fisher have a history dating back to AFC South battles between Fisher's Titans and Manning's Colts. The Broncos hold a $19 million option on Manning for 2016, but most expect them to move on after Manning battled injury and interceptions this season, leading to a 67.9 QB rating. Team Rice's downfall was turnovers; Tyrod Taylor (3), Derek Carr (2), and Eli Manning (1) combined for six interceptions in the predictably sloppy affair. Rotoworld.com Jan 31, 9:32 pm

  • Dolphins unlikely to draft a quarterback
The Dolphins aren't expected to draft a quarterback to compete with Ryan Tannehill for the starting job.

Advice: Despite underperforming in 2015, the Dolphins appear to be all-in on Tannehill. Head coach Adam Gase is excited to work with him while new OC Clyde Christensen recently said his job is to be Tannehill's "ally." Tannehill didn't receive that kind of support under Miami's last coaching staff. Joe Philbin campaigned for the Dolphins to replace Tannehill with Derek Carr leading up to the 2014 draft while former OC Bill Lazor didn't trust Tannehill enough to allow him to audible at the line of scrimmage. With the Dolphins' new coaching staff in place, Tannehill is in much better hands than he was a year ago at this time. Rotoworld.com Jan 31, 8:41 am

  • Bryce Petty unlikely to push for backup job
The Newark Star-Ledger doesn’t expect Bryce Petty to push Geno Smith for the Jets’ backup job.

Advice: Reporter Darryl Slater says Petty would only be elevated to the No. 2 role if the Jets draft a quarterback/move on from Smith. Petty made strides in practice as a rookie, but hasn't done anything to suggest he’s ready to be a backup. Smith should play out his final year behind Ryan Fitzpatrick. Rotoworld.com Jan 30, 1:20 pm

  • Cowboys expected to keep offense in place
Cowboys OC Scott Linehan said he doesn't expect any major changes on offense.

Advice: "I don’t anticipate anything major [adjustment-wise]," Linehan said. "Obviously we’re working to improve in some areas we fell short, so we’ll do that in the upcoming months." The Cowboys' 2015 struggles were largely personnel based. Tony Romo (collarbone) will be returning to the same offense when healthy. Rotoworld.com Jan 30, 12:16 pm

  • McCown (shoulder) hopes to be cleared soon
Josh McCown (shoulder) expects to be cleared soon.

Advice: McCown has been sidelined since landing on I.R. in December. He's on track for OTAs. McCown could return as a placeholder with Cleveland's quarterback situation up in the air. Rotoworld.com Jan 30, 11:34 am

  • RGIII and Manziel unlikely to be Cowboys?
ESPN Cowboys reporter Todd Archer does not believe Robert Griffin III or Johnny Manziel will join Dallas this offseason.

Advice: "Of the two, I think Robert Griffin III is more likely to be a Cowboy," Archer said, "but I don’t see that happening either." Manziel obviously intrigues Jerry Jones, but his off-field issues would likely be even more pronounced back home in Texas. Injuries have diminished Griffin, and he has yet to prove he can be an effective NFL quarterback without his scrambling ability. The Cowboys will add a quarterback this offseason, but Archer believes it will be through the draft. Rotoworld.com Jan 30, 7:40 am

  • Geno 'has all the skills' to be franchise QB
Jets owner Woody Johnson said Geno Smith "has all the skills" to be a franchise quarterback.

Advice: "It is a question of what his desire is," Johnson said. "And from what the coaches told me and from what I have seen myself, I think he has matured a lot. And he is working on his game and he knows he’s a professional and he has the ability if he sticks with it." Johnson may believe Smith has the ability to be an NFL starter, but the team has been clear about its desire to re-sign Ryan Fitzpatrick. If the Jets have their way, Geno will be no better than the backup in the final year of his rookie deal. Rotoworld.com Jan 30, 7:29 am

  • New OC Christensen will be Tannehill's 'ally'
New Dolphins OC Clyde Christensen said his "No. 1 job" is to be Ryan Tannehill's "ally."

Advice: "From every level of coaching that I’ve ever been at and especially this level, I think that’s a lonely position," Christensen said. "I’ve always felt like the No. 1 job that I have is to be an ally, to be a safe place where a guy can talk and communicate and have a relationship where you can bounce things off and generate ideas." It is clear the Dolphins hired new coach Adam Gase and Christensen with their young quarterback in mind. This could be a make-or-break season for Tannehill. Rotoworld.com Jan 30, 7:10 am

  • Case Keenum will stick with the Rams
Rams GM Les Snead said restricted free agent QB Case Keenum will be back with the team.

Advice: "We're not going to let him go somewhere else," Snead said. Coach Jeff Fisher admitted as much when he said Keenum would enter the offseason as the starter. Despite the presence of Keenum and Nick Foles, the Rams should be looking long and hard at the quarterback prospects. A Keenum-Foles training camp battle is not the way to start the first season back in Los Angeles. Rotoworld.com Jan 30, 6:37 am

  • Aaron Rodgers had knee scoped after season
Aaron Rodgers underwent arthroscopic knee surgery after the season.

Advice: The procedure took place "within days" of the Packers' January 16 playoff loss to Arizona. A source told ESPN's Rob Demovsky that Rodgers' surgery was a "minor scope," and described it as a "clean-up of an old injury." The procedure may cost Rodgers part of the Packers' offseason program, but isn't a concern for training camp. Rodgers is a buy-low target in Dynasty leagues. Rotoworld.com Jan 29, 8:03 pm

  • Bucs not expected to trade Glennon
Bucs GM Jason Licht said he’s not interested in trading Mike Glennon.

Advice: "I would hate to be in a position where your quarterback goes down and then you’re basically throwing the towel in, like a lot of teams did this year," Licht said. "Those were the same teams, a lot of them, that were inquiring about Mike Glennon at the time. Unless there’s [an offer] that blows us away, I think you lean towards keeping him and having him on your roster." It’s notable teams were asking about Glennon during the regular season, but it sounds like he’ll finish out his contract as Jameis Winston’s backup. Glennon could draw back-end starter interest as a 2017 free agent. Rotoworld.com Jan 29, 4:49 pm

  • Brett Hundley to take over as Rodgers' backup
Rising second-year QB Brett Hundley is expected to take over as the Packers' backup quarterback in 2016.

Advice: Incumbent backup Scott Tolzien is a free agent, while Hundley flashed big-time playmaking ability in his rookie preseason, completing over 69 percent of his throws with a 7:1 TD-to-INT ratio, also averaging 9.7 yards per pass attempt. Hundley was quick to learn the Packers' offense after playing in a zone-read spread at UCLA. The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel suggests 22-year-old Hundley could eventually attract interest via trade. • Jed York suggests Kap will get 'fresh start'
49ers owner Jed York said 2016 will mark a "fresh start" for Colin Kaepernick under new coach Chip Kelly.

Advice: "Everybody wants to make a big issue of, 'Well, you need to make a decision on Colin.' Etcetera, etcetera," York said. "We want Colin to get back healthy as soon as possible. We want to make sure that he's able to take the field whenever he's available. ... I've always had a very, very high opinion of Kap. Kap's a great kid, he's done a lot of great things for us. And again, this is a fresh start for everybody." The 49ers have a ton of cap room heading into the offseason and don't seem to be in a rush to get Kaepernick out of town. The "fresh start" may be best for Kap. Rotoworld.com Jan 29, 7:01 am
