Smooth Moves by The Deflator

  • Allen Robinson laughed in the face of the experts this week, beating his scoring projection by a matchup-leading 238.3% and scoring the 10th-most points in the league with 27.50 points.
  • Look, there in the sky. Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's just Amari Cooper posterizing opponents. He had the 10th-highest score of any WR in the league this week with 16.90 points.
  • Apparently playing within themselves was good enough. The Deflator won despite having only 3 of their 8 starters exceed their projected points.
  • Take that, you RB-loving traditionalists! The Deflator won even though both of their RBs scored below their projected points.
  • The 81.26 points scored by the starters on The Deflator compared to the 30.38 points from players left on the bench gave The Deflator the third-highest starter/bench scoring ratio in the league this week.

Toyota Roster Tune-up

  • If only we provided some kind of tool, like weekly articles, that would help jessie's Team secure a victory. Oh, WAIT, we do.
  • Left the Dallas Cowboys Defense on the bench, where they scored 19.00 points to beat their scoring projection by 222.0%, the seventh-highest percentage in the league.
  • Did not start Russell Wilson, who led the team in scoring with 25.04 points.
  • Picked up Cole Beasley, who scored 1.40 points, just 19.3% of his scoring projection, which was the lowest percentage in the matchup.
  • Whoever gave you this advice, you might want to lose their number. Picked up and started Chris Johnson, who then scored below his 10.51-point projection with 7.20 points.

What If

  • If The Deflator played jessie's Team every week, they'd be 2-0 this year.
  • The Deflator would have beaten seven other teams besides jessie's Team this week.
  • Were they resting their players for this week? The Deflator would have defeated jessie's Team 60.14 - 59.74 had they played each other last week.
  • If The Deflator had played every team in the league each week, they would be 12-18.
  • jessie's Team would have lost to eight other teams besides The Deflator this week.
  • jessie's Team would be 9-21 if they played every team every week.

Game Notes

  • The Deflator did not cover the 13.47-point spread, winning by 6.98 points.
  • The Deflator didn't meet expectations in the victory, recording 99.0% of their projected 82.09, while jessie's Team performed better than expected, beating their 68.62-point projection by 8.2%.
  • In the loss, Donte Moncrief had the eighth-highest WR score in the league this week with 18.20 points.
  • jessie's Team could not pull out the win, but Dion Lewis did perform well with the third-best RB score in the league this week, scoring 17.80 points.
  • jessie's Team got 27.70 points from their RBs, the third-highest combined scoring output from the RB position for any team this week.
  • The 47.50 points scored by the WR on The Deflator was the second-biggest combined score by a team's WRs this week.
  • Although jessie's Team lost, Johnny Manziel played well, bringing in 35.5% more points than was projected (18.98 points against a projected 14.01).
  • Sam Bradford failed to meet his projected point total, scoring only 7.86 points of his projected 19.47.

Fantasy MasterpiecesWeek 2

Barry Sanders Det - RB 1998 vs. Cincinnati 233 total yards, 3 TDs Terrell Davis Den - RB 1998 vs. Dallas 191 rushing yards, 3 TDs Week 2 of ’98 was special, as it featured two of the greatest running backs of all-time in vintage form.

And in a way, it was a swan song for both players. Sanders would score just one more time over the remaining 14 weeks of the ’98 season, opting to take early retirement at the end of the campaign.

As for Davis, his ’98 season continued on in epic fashion, as he would finish with 2,008 rushing yards and 23 touchdowns. But an ACL injury early in the ’99 season proved to be a death knell for Davis’ short, but sweet, career, as he played just 17 games combined from ’99 to ’01 (scoring 4 touchdowns in that span) before deciding to hang up his cleats.
Each week of the season we will bring you the top fantasy football performances of the past 10+ years for that week.
