  • Titans insert rookie Zach Mettenberger at QB
The Nashville Tennessean reports the Titans will start sixth-round rookie Zach Mettenberger at quarterback in Week 8 against the Texans.

Advice: Having already lost hope for the 2014 season, the Titans will start playing their pups. Injury-prone, contract-year quarterback Jake Locker has been formally demoted. It's believed Mettenberger was informed of coach Ken Whisenhunt's decision to start him on Tuesday night, which perhaps explains why none of Tennessee's quarterbacks were allowed to speak with the media on Wednesday. A strong-armed LSU product albeit with zero mobility, Mettenberger will make his first NFL start against J.J. Watt's Texans in a home game. With Jadeveon Clowney (knee) tentatively due back this week, the Houston defense is worth a look as a Week 8 streamer. Rotoworld.com

  • Report: Teams calling about Nate Washington
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports teams have been calling the Titans about Nate Washington's availability.

Advice: This unofficially translates to, "We, the Titans, would love to trade Nate Washington." Already demoted in favor of Justin Hunter, Washington is just taking up roster and cap space on Tennessee's 53, and could probably be had for a conditional seventh-round pick. Unfortunately for the Titans, Washington has a guaranteed $4.8 million base salary and isn't worth half that much. They'd be lucky to get a bag of punctured footballs for him. Rotoworld.com

If not, it's expected to be Colt McCoy under center. Kirk Cousins has played his way off the map with nine interceptions in the last five games. Advice: Atlanta entered the week having surrendered the fewest fantasy points in the league to tight ends. Daniels got on the Falcons quick, however, tallying a five-yard TD in the first quarter and getting all of his production in the first half. In the old Dennis Pitta role, Daniels offers minimal week-to-week upside but is very much involved under tight end-friendly OC Gary Kubiak. Advice: Gruden said that could happen in one week, or it could be five weeks. But it's clear at the moment RGIII is going to get the starts under center in Washington once healthy. Kirk Cousins has "led" the Redskins to four consecutive losses, but there's always a chance he could catch fire and force Gruden to keep him in the lineup. • Lions not planning increased Pettigrew looks
The Lions have no plans to increase Brandon Pettigrew's role as a pass catcher.

Advice: Pettigrew averaged 100 targets from 2010-13, but has drawn just eight looks through six games. That, of course, is how the Lions drew up it when they spent their first-round pick on Eric Ebron and brought back Pettigrew to block. Neither Ebron nor Joseph Fauria has made much of an impact as a receiver, but Pettigrew was always amongst the league's least efficient players as a pass catcher. Rotoworld.com

  • Robert Griffin III could return in Week 8
CSN Washington suggests it's possible Robert Griffin III (ankle) could return for the Redskins' Week 8 game against the Cowboys.

Advice: Griffin has been cleared for individual drills, and coach Jay Gruden said he could get in some practice reps next week. The Redskins want to get him a full week of practice before playing in a game, so Week 8 would be his earliest return. Griffin's timetable remains a fluid situation, but there's now at least a chance that he'll be back before Washington's Week 10 bye. Rotoworld.com

  • Redskins don't know when RG3 will return
The Redskins "still aren't sure" when Robert Griffin III will return from his dislocated ankle.

Advice: It isn't as if the Skins have a timetable but aren't revealing it. They genuinely don't know when RG3 will be back. "As far as taking practice reps, that will be at least another week," coach Jay Gruden said Monday. "[Wednesday] will be the first step and next week maybe we'll try to get him in practice situations and see where he is." Griffin will perform some individual drills this week. He won't begin team reps until before Week 8 at the soonest. Rotoworld.com

  • RG3 ticketed for individual drills next week
Redskins coach Jay Gruden expects Robert Griffin III (ankle) to resume individual drills next week.

Advice: Gruden even left open the possibility that RGIII could get a few team reps. With Kirk Cousins playing extremely up-and-down football in RGIII's absence, the Redskins aren't going to stagger his return. The absolute earliest Griffin is likely to come back is Week 9, but he'll probably remain sidelined through Washington's Week 10 bye. Rotoworld.com

  • DeAngelo Williams to miss a couple more weeks
DeAngelo Williams (ankle) is expected to miss a couple more weeks.

Advice: Williams suffered a high ankle sprain in Week 4. He's going to get beat back into the lineup by Jonathan Stewart (knee), who is expected to practice Wednesday and has an excellent chance to start against the Packers in Week 7. Williams, who will just be a low-upside committee back even once he gets healthy, is a RB4/5 kind of hold. Rotoworld.com

  • Robert Turbin rushes twice in loss
Robert Turbin rushed two times for 10 yards in Sunday's Week 6 loss to the Cowboys.

Advice: Turbin was not targeted in the pass game. He remains ahead of Christine Michael, but is just a handcuff. Marshawn Lynch's back was not an issue Sunday. Rotoworld.com

  • Eagles release Week 6 inactives
Chris Polk (hamstring) is inactive for Sunday night's Week 6 game against the Giants.

Advice: Polk was ruled out on Friday and is likely dealing with a multi-week injury. Fourth-string TE Trey Burton will be the Eagles' No. 3 back. The rest of the inactives are QB Matt Barkley, LB Mychal Kendricks, WR Brad Smith, C Jason Kelce, OL Dennis Kelly, and DE Taylor Hart. Rotoworld.com

  • Owen Daniels goes 2-34 in Week 6 win
Owen Daniels caught two passes for 34 yards in the Ravens' Week 6 win over the Bucs.

Advice: It was a very disappointing game from Daniels, who was targeted just three times against a defense that bleeds catches to tight ends and surrendered five touchdown passes to Joe Flacco on Sunday. Unfortunately, Daniels wasn't one of them. He'll be back on the TE1/2 borderline against the Falcons next week. Rotoworld.com

  • Nate Washington goes 2-23 against Jaguars
Nate Washington managed two catches for 23 yards in the Titans' Week 6 win over Jacksonville.

Advice: He finished with two targets. Washington's numbers, as usual, don't jump off the stat sheet, but he made a critical first-down catch on third down in the second quarter to keep a promising drive alive. A clear-cut role player in Ken Whisenhunt's offense behind Justin Hunter and Kendall Wright, Washington holds no value in fantasy leagues. Rotoworld.com

  • Ebron targeted four times in Lions' win
Eric Ebron caught 2-of-4 targets for 23 yards against the Vikings Week 6.

Advice: Matthew Stafford missed a wide-open Ebron for what would have been a long gain. Ebron now has exactly four targets in each of the last three games. Despite the uptick in usage, Ebron is nothing more than an upside TE2. Rotoworld.com

  • Shonn Greene won't play vs. Jaguars
Shonn Greene (hamstring) is not expected to play Week 6 against the Jaguars.

Advice: He's listed as doubtful on the injury report, so it comes as no surprise. Look for Bishop Sankey to take over as the Titans' lead back in a dream matchup. He's an RB2 option. We wouldn't be surprised to see Sankey take the job and run with it, leaving plodding Greene as a mere change of pace when he returns. Rotoworld.com
