  • LaVon Brazill signs with Toronto Argonauts
Suspended free agent WR LaVon Brazill has signed with the CFL's Toronto Argonauts.

Advice: After repeated violations of the league's substance abuse policy, Brazill was suspended for at least all of the 2014 season. The former Colt will stay involved with football and probably hope to catch on with an NFL team in 2015. Rotoworld.com

  • Gordon has 'no shot' to have ban overturned
A source told the Cleveland Plain Dealer that Josh Gordon has "no shot" to have his season-long suspension reduced.

Advice: Another source told the Plain Dealer Gordon is pursuing all of his legal options, but a league source familiar with NFL cases like Gordon's stated "he has no shot of having the suspension overturned in court. It's over." It's believed the CBA will "trump any involvement" from the courts. The Plain Dealer suggests Roger Goodell could let Gordon apply for reinstatement shortly after the 2014 season if he's a "model citizen." Of course, Gordon was popped for DUI this summer, which isn't going to help his cause. Rotoworld.com

  • Gordon can apply for reinstatement after 2014
Suspended WR Josh Gordon can apply for reinstatement at the end of the 2014 season.

Advice: It's technically just a season-long ban for Gordon, not a calendar-year suspension. It's a glimmer of good news. Gordon will be away from the Browns for roughly 5-6 months, as long as he keeps his nose clean. Gordon took and passed over 70 drug tests, but failed the one that led to this suspension by 0.01 nanograms per milliliter. Gordon's agent needs to surround him with good people while he's away from the game. He has a ton of football ahead of him. Rotoworld.com

  • Josh Gordon's ban stands, suspended one year
Josh Gordon's one-year suspension for violations of the NFL's substance abuse policy has been upheld on appeal.

Advice: Gordon's one-year suspension begins today, which technically means he won't be allowed around the Browns for 2015 OTAs, minicamp and most of training camp. Perhaps the NFL will grant him reinstatement earlier, based on good behavior and the absurd delay with the appeal ruling. Regardless, the the Browns will now have to go to battle for the whole 2014 season with Jordan Cameron as the centerpiece of their passing game and Andrew Hawkins/Miles Austin as complements. We're confident Gordon, still just 23 years old and brimming with truly special talent, will be back with a vengeance. He's just got some growing up to do. Rotoworld.com

Cody Latimer is expected to be used in some of the Broncos' red-zone packages.

Advice: Even if Wes Welker (concussion) suits up Week 1, it sounds like the Broncos have a role for Latimer. At 6'2/215 with exceptionally strong hands and a penchant for winning 50/50 balls, he's a logical candidate to do some Eric Decker things near the goal-line. It's still unclear if Latimer is ahead of Andre Caldwell on the depth chart in base packages -- the veteran ran ahead of the second-round rookie in the third preseason game. Rotoworld.com

  • Rumblings Josh Gordon decision coming today
The Cleveland Plain Dealer is "hearing rumblings" that the Josh Gordon decision could come down Wednesday.

Advice: The lengthy delay has "baffled" the Browns, infuriated fans and confounded fantasy drafters. Hopefully, we'll know exactly how many games Gordon is going to miss this season before nightfall tonight. Given how long the process has taken, it's reasonable to think arbitrator Harold Henderson has been allowing the sides to negotiate some kind of settlement. Browns sources tell ESPN's Adam Schefter that the team is "baffled as to why Josh Gordon ruling has taken so long."

Advice: It's been nearly four months since news of Gordon's latest failed drug test broke and almost four weeks since his appeal hearing. Yet all we know is that the decision is expected "soon." The lengthy delay in the process has not only jammed up fantasy owners, but is also unfair to the Browns and Gordon. A Stage 3 violation results in a one-year ban, not a 16-game ban. NFL Network's Albert Breer relayed this nugget Wednesday morning: "One theory I've heard that makes sense on the Josh Gordon delay -- Arbitrator would much rather the sides settle than make a call himself." Josh Gordon's DWI hearing has been pushed back to November 18.

This is a separate incident, as Gordon was pulled over at 3am on July 5th in North Carolina and recorded a .09 BAC. The legal limit is .08. Frankie Hammond is expected to start in place of Dwayne Bowe (suspension) Week 1.

Advice: Hammond, a 2013 UDFA out of Florida that spent last season on the practice squad, has been Bowe's direct backup at "Z" throughout camp. He's also been solid in preseason games, catching six passes for 90 yards on 86 snaps. It's a nice story, but it speaks to the striking lack of depth and talent the Chiefs have in their wide receiver room. If they want to have any kind of passing attack against the Titans, they'll install Gronkonian tight end Travis Kelce as a primary receiving option. Donnie Avery remains the starting "X." Coach Rex Ryan has already said Hill will play in Thursday's preseason finale, something he likely wouldn't be doing were his roster spot sewn up. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport says there's a "lot of optimism from the team," essentially confirming that Welker has no intention of retiring and is on track to make a speedy return. Unfortunately, Hill's hands are made of stone, while his body has yet to hold up in the NFL. Ex-GM Mike Tannenbaum made Hill the 43rd overall pick in the 2012 draft. He also had a number of head injuries while with the Patriots, putting his long-term status in some doubt. At this point, he has to think about his health after football. Advice: The same injury cost Stills each of New Orleans' first two preseason games. Stills started Saturday's exhibition -- ahead of rookie Brandin Cooks -- but fell hard on a first-quarter deep-ball attempt from Drew Brees that fell incomplete. It's now a question whether Stills will be 100 percent for Week 1. Rotoworld.com

  • Dez Bryant dominant in 3rd preseason game
Dez Bryant caught 4-of-5 targets for 32 yards against the Dolphins' Saturday night.

Advice: He was physically dominant all night, showing strong hands and using his body to shield defenders. Dez is primed for a huge season, and should be one of the first three wide receivers off the board. Bryant has 7 receptions for 91 yards (13 YPR) and a touchdown through two preseason games. Nate Burleson (hamstring) will miss his third straight preseason game.

Advice: Burleson hasn't practiced the last couple of weeks with a hamstring issue, and still isn't ready for game action. He's competing with Charles Johnson, Travis Benjamin, and Anthony Armstrong for a roster spot and needs to get healthy. Joe Haden (foot) also won't play in Saturday's game. Rotoworld.com

  • Frankie Hammond to start third preseason game
Second-year UDFA WR Frankie Hammond Jr. will start in Kansas City's third preseason game.

Advice: Hammond is having a strong start to the preseason, with four catches for 67 yards on six targets. He's been filling in for Dwayne Bowe (quad) at Z receiver, and has "been a star during the offseason and training camp." Hammond is a virtual lock to make the Chiefs' final roster. With Bowe suspended for the first game, Hammond could be the Week 1 starter opposite Donnie Avery. Rotoworld.com

Sammy Watkins (ribs) is inactive for Saturday's preseason game.

Advice: Watkins returned to practice on a limited basis this week, but the Bills don't want to risk him to further injury. It's not ideal for him to be missing time in Buffalo's regular season dress rehearsal. TE Tony Moeaki is also inactive and has appeared in just one preseason game. Rotoworld.com

  • Marcus Harris (shoulder) to miss 3-4 weks
Giants WR Marcus Harris (shoulder) is expected to miss 3-4 weeks.

Advice: Harris has a sprained AC joint. He was in the mix for the No. 5 receiver job prior to going down. The Giants would need to cut Preston Parker, Julian Talley, and KR Trindon Holliday to keep a roster spot for Harris, who was having a strong camp. Harris had nine catches for 93 yards in four preseason games. Rotoworld.com

Mario Manningham caught one pass for five yards in Friday's preseason game.

Advice: Manningham's second-quarter grab was his lone target of the night. The 2012 Super Bowl hero has just two catches for 22 yards through four preseason games. He appears to be on the outside looking in of the 53-man roster. Rotoworld.com

Marcus Harris was forced from Friday's preseason game with a shoulder injury.

Advice: Harris caught one pass for three yards before going down. He was later spotted on the sideline with his arm in a sling. It's not a good sign for the fourth-year UDFA's roster chances. Harris nine catches for 93 yards through four preseason games. Rotoworld.com

Stephen Hill secured only 1-of-4 targets for 12 yards in Friday's regular-season dress rehearsal.

Advice: He also committed a drop. It was a thoroughly uninspiring evening for a player who's on the roster bubble. The No. 43 overall pick of the 2012 draft now has just two grabs for 29 yards through three preseason games. Hill's career is trending in the wrong direction. Rotoworld.com

The New York Daily News believes Odell Beckham (hamstring) looks healthy enough to return to practice next week.

Advice: Beckham suffered a setback on Tuesday and will miss his third straight preseason game. He's been dealing with hamstring issues since OTAs, and has been sidelined for the majority of training camp. The Giants don't believe his latest setback is overly serious. Odell Beckham (hamstring) is inactive for Friday night's preseason game.

  • Report: No decision on Josh Gordon this week
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports there will be no decision on Josh Gordon's suspension appeal this week.

Advice: Per FOX Sports' Mike Garofolo, the NFL Players Union and Gordon's reps were expecting a decision by the end of this week. RapSheet says one isn't coming, however. The holdup is believed to be due to a high volume of testimony on both sides stemming from Gordon's latest failed drug test. Gordon failed several drug tests in college, as well. He'll remain in limbo until appeals officer Harold Henderson makes a decision. Hopefully, it'll happen next week. Rotoworld.com

  • Stevie Johnson not a lock for No. 3 duties
CSN Bay Area doesn't consider Stevie Johnson a lock to win the 49ers' No. 3 receiver job.

Advice: Johnson is facing tougher than expected competition from Brandon Lloyd. Per reporter Matt Maiocco, Johnson has yet to develop chemistry with Colin Kaepernick. Maiocco believes Johnson would have to take a pay-cut from his $3.925 million salary if he can't nail down No. 3 duties. In that scenario, Johnson could be best off calling the 49ers' bluff and hitting the open market. Rotoworld.com

Nate Burleson admits 2014 might be his last season.

Advice: Burleson is 33 and has missed the majority of camp with a hamstring issue. ESPN Cleveland doesn't consider his roster spot secure. • Nate Burleson no lock to stick with Browns
ESPN Cleveland isn't sure if Nate Burleson will make the Browns' final roster.

Advice: 33-year-old Burleson has been bothered by a hamstring issue for a couple weeks now. Of course, the competition for roster spots in this wideout corps is not exactly fierce. The only locks are Josh Gordon, Andrew Hawkins and Miles Austin, leaving Burleson to battle guys like Charles Johnson, Travis Benjamin, Anthony Armstrong and Taylor Gabriel. It's hard to see the desperate Browns dumping a veteran leader with experience, even if Burleson will play a bit role. Rotoworld.com

Stephen Hill remains behind David Nelson for No. 2 outside wideout duties.

Advice: Hill's troublesome knees haven't been an issue in camp, but production has. He's played 70 snaps and run 37 routes through two preseason games, yet has just one catch for 17 yards. Hill is unlikely to be a factor behind Eric Decker and slot man Jeremy Kerley even if he can catch up to Nelson before Week 1. Rotoworld.com

NJ.com's Jordan Raanan believes it's "not looking good" for Odell Beckham (hamstring) to be ready for the regular season.

Advice: We're considering Beckham "out indefinitely" after his latest hamstring setback. With Jerrel Jernigan not earning points from the coaching staff in camp, Victor Cruz and Rueben Randle should open the year as target monsters in New York's shaky passing attack. Beckham isn't worth a flier in re-draft leagues. Rotoworld.com

  • Sammy Watkins (ribs) back in pads Tuesday
Sammy Watkins (ribs) returned to practice Tuesday on a limited basis.

Advice: Watkins' rib "contusion" proved to be minor after all. Much hoopla was raised Monday when the Bills failed to call Watkins' injury merely a bruise, leading some to believe Watkins may be dealing with something more serious. The No. 4 overall pick is progressing after sitting out Monday. It remains to be seen whether he'll suit up for the Bills' regular season dress rehearsal this weekend. Rotoworld.com

  • Odell Beckham (hamstring) won't play Friday
Odell Beckham (hamstring) has been ruled out for the Giants' third preseason game Friday.

Advice: The Giants are saying Beckham didn't suffer a setback. But being that he practiced last week and came up lame in Monday's practice, forcing him to ride the stationary bike Tuesday, there's no other way to term it than as a setback. Beckham might end up getting some run with the backups in the fourth preseason game simply because he's missed so much time and is far behind. Rotoworld.com

  • Odell Beckham sidelined again by hamstring
Odell Beckham (hamstring) is not practicing on Tuesday.

Advice: Beckham returned to practice last week after battling a hamstring for much of the spring and all of training camp up to that point. He lasted a week before re-injuring the hamstring in yesterday's practice while running a pass route. Beckham has yet to appear in a preseason game and seems extremely iffy for this week's regular season dress rehearsal. Beckham is off the re-draft radar. Rotoworld.com

Odell Beckham exited Monday's practice early and may have experienced a setback with his hamstring.

Advice: Midway through practice, Beckham was running a route upfield and pulled up lame. He immediately left the field and watched the remainder of practice from the sideline. The Giants say Beckham is "fine," but it's obviously something to watch. If Beckham didn't experience a setback, he should play this week. Rotoworld.com

  • Bills unsure of Sammy Watkins' (ribs) status
Sammy Watkins (ribs) is sitting out Monday's practice, and coach Doug Marrone is unsure of when he'll return.

Advice: "When (Watkins) comes back, I don't know," Marrone said. "Unless I know for sure, I'm not going to comment." Marrone always treats injury information like a state secret, but it's notable nonetheless. The Bills originally called Watkins' injury a "bruise," but were less forthright on Monday. Watkins is still likely nothing more than day to day, but he's in danger of missing this week's regular-season dress rehearsal. Watkins has consistently lit up practice, but has just three grabs through three exhibition games. Rotoworld.com

  • Cody Latimer skies for 33-yard TD catch
Broncos second-round pick Cody Latimer caught a 33-yard touchdown pass in Sunday's second preseason game against the 49ers.

Advice: Running with the Broncos' twos, Latimer went up and over 49ers rookie CB Dontae Johnson for his 33-yard score in the third quarter, delivered by Brock Osweiler. It was the first reception of Latimer's pro career; he finished Denver's exhibition opener catch-less on one target. Latimer is worth a late pick in best-ball and deeper re-draft leagues, but needs one of Denver's top three receivers to miss time in order to become useful in fantasy. Rotoworld.com

Cardinals WR Jaron Brown caught two passes for a team-high 86 yards in Saturday night's preseason game against the Vikings.

Advice: Brown has had a strong camp, drawing praise from coach Bruce Arians for his special teams prowess. He's now putting it together as a receiver. On Saturday, Brown out-jumped Vikings top CB Xavier Rhodes for a 35-yard catch. He beat Rhodes again for a 51-yard catch-and-run. Brown worked with the ones with Michael Floyd (groin) out.
