    • Return to Green Bay official
Dillon (thumb/neck) officially re-signed with the Packers on Friday.

Advice: After missing the final three games of last season due to a neck stinger, Dillon was in danger of moving on to a new organization following the completion of his rookie contract, but the 2020 second-round pick will remain in Green Bay on what's called the four-year qualifying contract, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. With his signing made official by the NFL, Dillon will emerge from the early days of the new league year as the Packers' current No. 2 running back behind newcomer Josh Jacobs, who is taking over for the departed Aaron Jones (Vikings). If he's in that role Week 1 of the upcoming campaign, Dillon likely would be poised for his workload from the last three years, which amounted to nearly 13.0 touches per game. • Returning to Green Bay
Dillon (thumb/neck) is in line to re-sign with the Packers, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

Advice: Considering Dillon missed the last three games of the season (including playoffs) due to a neck stinger, his return to Green Bay is pending a physical. Assuming he clears that hurdle, he'll be a part of a revamped backfield with Josh Jacobs swapping in for Aaron Jones as the team's top runner. A 2020 second-round pick, Dillon averaged 59.8 yards from scrimmage per game and scored 16 total touchdowns in 49 contests over the last three campaigns. Rotowire.com Thursday, 3:31 pm

    • Can’t stop: Packers expected to re-sign Dillon
Packers agreed to terms with RB AJ Dillon.

Advice: The Packers just can’t quit one of the league’s least efficient, least explosive committee backs. Dillon didn’t have the juice for the entirety of his just-completed rookie contract, including in 2023 when he couldn’t better 613 yards rushing even with Aaron Jones spending the majority of the year fighting hamstring issues. Dillon averaged one of the league’s worst “rush yards over expected” averages, checking in at -0.36. Neither a goal-line asset nor a true pass catcher, Dillon isn’t even a great blocker. The coaching staff just really, really likes him. With recent addition Josh Jacobs more of a true every-down back than Jones, Dillon should be more of a true “breather back” than the 1B he’s been the past four years. Rotoworld Thursday, 3:18 pm

    • Gets quarterback upgrade
Pitts looks set to benefit from improved quarterback play in 2024 after Kirk Cousins (Achilles) agreed Monday with Atlanta on a four-year, $180 million contract.

Advice: Pitts could be the Falcons' skill-position player most primed to benefit from a quarterback upgrade. After beginning his NFL career with a 1,026-yard rookie campaign while paired with a former league MVP in Matt Ryan in 2021, Pitts has since turned in 356- and 667-yard efforts while he's been on the receiving end of passes from Marcus Mariota, Desmond Ridder and Taylor Heinicke, in addition to battling injuries. Even coming off an Achilles' tendon tear, Cousins likely represents the best quarterback that Pitts has played with recently, and the tight end will also have the benefit of coming out of the offseason at full health. He spent considerable time last offseason rehabbing from an MCL sprain, which may have contributed to his slow start to the 2023 season. Along with improved health and the change at quarterback, Pitts should benefit from the departure of fellow tight end Jonnu Smith, a favorite of former head coach Arthur Smith who often poached snaps from Pitts. • Rapoport: AJ Dillon has ‘several options’ in FA
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports free agent RB AJ Dillon has “several options outside of Green Bay.”

Advice: Rapoport noted the Giants, Colts, and Cowboys as teams Dillon is rumored to be in talks with. It’s not an exciting list of landing spots for fantasy purposes, with only Dallas having an open backfield. The Colts would use Dillon as a backup to Jonathan Taylor and the Giants just signed Devin Singletary to a three-year deal. KRPC2’s Aaron Wilson later reported that the Giants are looking for another veteran to pair with Singletary. Dillon struggled when called upon after Aaron Jones went down last year and will likely be resigned to backup duties on his second contract. Rotoworld Wednesday, 6:49 am

    • Schefter: Mahomes agrees to restructured contract
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Patrick Mahomes has agreed to a restructured contract.

Advice: Converting a huge chunk of his salary to a pro-rated bonus, Mahomes is clearing a whopping $21.6 million in space. The back-to-back champs have been quiet in free agency thus far, but this hints at some coming moves as K.C. embarks on the quest for the NFL’s first-ever threepeat. Rotoworld Tuesday, 4:29 pm

    • Signing with Minnesota
Jones is slated to sign a one-year deal with the Vikings, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Advice: Per Schefter, Jones' deal with Minnesota is worth $7 million. The move comes just one day after the 29-year-old was released by Green Bay after turning down a pay cut, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. With the Vikings, Jones will have a chance to lead a backfield that also includes Ty Chandler, with Alexander Mattison having recently been released by the team. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 6:06 am

    • Report: Vikings sign former Packers RB Aaron Jones
The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reports the Vikings agreed to terms with RB Aaron Jones, formerly of the Packers, on a one-year, $7 million contract.

Advice: The move makes sense for the running back-needy Vikings, who released Alexander Mattison this month. Jones, entering his age-30 season, will likely operate as the team’s lead back, with Ty Chandler perhaps chipping in as a pass catcher out of the backfield. Jones was an efficient rusher last year despite missing six games with hamstring injuries. Minnesota being one of the NFL’s pass heaviest teams could mean a glut of targets for the veteran back. • Russini: RB-needy Vikings pursuing Aaron Jones
The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reports the Vikings are pursuing Aaron Jones.

Advice: The Packers wanted Jones to take a 50 percent pay cut going into the 2024 season and cut the longtime Green Bay staple when he refused. Jones had taken a pay cut before the 2023 season to remain with the Packers. Meanwhile, the Vikings are among the neediest teams at running back after parting ways with Alexander Mattison this month. That leaves only Ty Chandler as a viable lead back. Chandler would not, of course, have that role if Jones strikes a deal with the Vikings. Entering his age-30 season, Jones is coming off an injury-marred 2023 campaign. He missed six games with various ailments, including a severe hamstring injury. Rotoworld Tuesday, 5:05 am
