  • G-Men send Jerrel Jernigan to injured reserve
Giants placed WR Jerrel Jernigan on injured reserve with a mid-foot sprain, ending his season.

Advice: WR Julian Talley will take his place on the 53-man roster. It suggests Jernigan is dealing with a dreaded Lisfranc injury, though the Giants say he won't need surgery. Called out by coach Tom Coughlin in training camp, Jernigan had not been an effective as the Giants' fill-in No. 3 receiver this season, catching 6-of-9 targets for 40 yards through 110 snaps. Preseason star Corey Washington should now be in for a bigger role as the Giants await first-rounder Odell Beckham's (hamstring) return. A 2011 third-rounder, Jernigan is in the final year of his rookie contract. He has just 38 career catches. Rotoworld.com

  • Gordon won't earn longer ban for DWI charge
Josh Gordon has pled guilty to DWI charges in Wake County, North Carolina, and been sentenced to 12 months of unsupervised probation.

Advice: He must also pay a $390 fine. The league's new drug policy mandates a two-game suspension for players who are convicted or plead out in drunk-driving cases, but Gordon's arrest occurred under the old policy. Per Profootballtalk, he'll only be subject to a fine, and won't have his current 10-game ban lengthened. NFL.com's Albert Breer reports Gordon has been "assured" that's the case. It means he's still on track to return in Week 12, and no longer has any outstanding legal issues. Now hopefully Gordon can stay on the straight and narrow. Rotoworld.com

Adams came on and immediately impressed, finishing with a 5-50-0 line on seven targets. If the second-round rookie hasn't forced an all-out rotation here, he's certainly breathing down the veteran's neck. Foles missed Maclin for a wide-open touchdown in Week 1, and also overshot him on Monday night in the end zone. When the dust settled, Adams had 5-50-0 on seven targets and Boykin had 1-6-0 on three targets. We'll be anxious to see the final snap counts. • Josh Gordon 'notified' of 10-game suspension
According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Josh Gordon "has been notified" his suspension will be reduced from 16 to 10 games, "pending final approval" of the NFL's new drug policy.

Advice: Profootballtalk.com has now joined the Plain Dealer and ESPN's Adam Schefter in reporting Gordon's suspension will indeed be ten games, reduced from 16. The new substance abuse policy reduced the ban. PFT's Mike Florio reports Gordon will be subject to another two-game suspension stemming from his offseason DUI arrest, but Florio considers it "unlikely" that the additional ban will be enforced during the 2014 season. • Report: Gordon's suspension will be 10 games
The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports Josh Gordon will be suspended ten games under the terms of the NFL's new drug policy.

Advice: It's two more games than expected, but at least Gordon will be available, technically, in Weeks 12-17 for the Browns. That assumes he makes no mistakes during the ten-game ban, and no more games are tacked on for his offseason DUI arrest. We suspect fantasy owners will have a tough time hanging onto Gordon as bye-week crunches set in, but it's certainly worth trying in 12- and 14-team leagues. Gordon was already suspended for Week 1, and the Browns' bye is in Week 4, so the projected return date is Week 12. • Reggie Wayne leads colts in receiving
Reggie Wayne had nine catches for 98 yards in Sunday night's loss to the Colts.

Advice: Wayne looked healthy coming off his ACL tear. The Colts used him mostly in the slot in three-wide sets, and he had a team-high 13 targets. Wayne appeared to injure his knee late in the third quarter, but returned after missing just one play. He'll be a high-end WR3 in Week 2 against the Eagles. Rotoworld.com

  • Alshon's hammy injury doesn't appear serious
Following Sunday's loss to the Bills, coach Marc Trestman downplayed Alshon Jeffery's hamstring injury.

Advice: Jeffery missed the fourth quarter and overtime, finishing with a 5-71-0 line on six targets. "Alshon was prepared to go in there at specific times. I'll just leave it at that," Trestman said. Jeffery was also spotted in the locker room walking without any limp or discomfort. We'll consider him day to day for now. Rotoworld.com

  • Riley Cooper held to 4/29/0
Riley Cooper caught four passes for 29 yards in Sunday's Week 1 win over the Jaguars.

Advice: Cooper was second on the team with seven targets, but most of his looks were second- or third-read dumpoffs. He's a role player that's on the field to block more than make plays outside of the occasional jump ball. Cooper will be a touchdown-dependent WR4 against the Colts in Week 2. Rotoworld.com

  • Julio goes for 116 yards on seven catches
Julio Jones caught seven passes for 116 yards in the Falcons' opening day win.

Advice: The Saints bracketed Jones with Patrick Robinson and Jarius Byrd most of the day, but he still managed to hang 116 on the New Orleans' defense. Jones was explosive in the open field, and looked just like the player that averaged 13.7 fantasy points a game before getting hurt last year. If he can stay on the field, Jones will be a top-end WR1 this season. Rotoworld.com

  • Jordan Matthews gets two catches in debut
Jordan Matthews caught two passes for 37 yards in Sunday's Week 1 win over the Jaguars.

Advice: Matthews (four targets) exclusively played in "11" formations out of the slot, as expected. The real payoff for owners will come if Riley Cooper (seven targets) or Jeremy Maclin (10 targets) go down. For now, Matthews just isn't going to see enough volume to be a reliable WR3 play. • Maclin takes advantage of busted coverage
Jeremy Maclin caught four passes for 97 yards with a touchdown in Sunday's Week 1 win over the Jaguars.

Advice: Maclin was on his way to an extremely disappointing day until lighting struck midway through the fourth quarter. The Jaguars blew a coverage, with safety Chris Prosinski biting on a play-fake and leaving Maclin literally wide open to walk in for a 68-yard score. The good news is Maclin's surgically-repaired knee looked fine and he led a committee passing attack with 10 targets. He'll be a solid WR3 against the Colts in Week 2. Rotoworld.com

  • Alshon Jeffery suffers hamstring injury
Alshon Jeffery was forced from Sunday's Week 1 game against the Bills with a hamstring injury.

Advice: The Bears listed Jeffery as probable to return, but he spent the entire second half on the sidelines and didn't play in overtime. He had five catches for 71 yards on six targets before exiting. Santonio Holmes and Josh Morgan filled in for Jeffery in three-wide sets. Rotoworld.com
