    • Bears may have to give up pick to move Cutler
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports several unnamed NFL executives believe the Bears may have to give up a draft pick in order to trade Jay Cutler.

Advice: Still owed a guaranteed $25.5 million on the seven-year deal signed last offseason, Cutler's contract appears to be trade prohibitive. Schefter's sources believe the Bears could offset the big guarantees by offering Cutler AND a draft pick to prospective trade partners. NFL rules dictate the Bears would have to receive some compensation in return, but Chicago could get around the rule by accepted a late-round pick in exchange for Cutler and a better pick. It would be a high price to pay to offload a talented quarterback, but with coach Marc Trestman likely finished after the season, Chicago may simply press the reset button. Rotoworld.com

Cardinals coach Bruce Arians suggested Friday that Drew Stanton (knee, doubtful) could be active for Sunday's game versus Seattle to serve as Ryan Lindley's backup.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Texans are leaning toward starting Case Keenum at quarterback for Week 16 against the Ravens.

Advice: As expected. Keenum simply knows the offense better as a whole than Thad Lewis. Keenum spent the summer with the Texans, while Lewis was signed just a few weeks ago. Neither Keenum nor Lewis would be on the fantasy radar. The Ravens may have a suspect secondary, but they have a dominant pass rush. Rotoworld.com

Charlie Whitehurst completed 24-of-35 passes for 287 yards and a touchdown in the Titans' 21-13, Week 16 loss to the Jaguars.

Advice: Clipboard Jesus came out dropping dimes, going 6-of-6 for 71 yards and a touchdown on the Titans' opening drive. He cooled off considerably thereafter, but still delivered a surprising amount of precision passes into tight spaces. He was hurt by a lack of awareness from both Delanie Walker and Derek Hagan on incompletions that should have gone for big yards. Whitehurst has actually performed reasonably well in spot duty this season, but done nothing to disprove the notion that he's a career backup. He won't be on the fantasy radar for next week's finale against the Colts. Rotoworld.com

Blake Bortles completed 13-of-26 passes for 115 yards and a touchdown in the Jaguars' 21-13, Week 16 win over the Titans, adding five rushes for 50 yards.

Advice: Bortles' sprained foot was not an issue. In the merciful end to an unimpressive slate of Thursday night games, Tennessee and Jacksonville put on a reasonably good show. Bortles got off to a painfully slow start, completing just four passes for 10 yards through the Jags' first four drives. He never exactly got in a groove, but finally started driving the ball and sustaining drives. He took "just" four sacks four days after getting walloped for eight by the Ravens. Bortles committed a fumble, but the Jags recovered. Bortles hasn't put a lot of positive things on tape, but has had abysmal protection and a revolving door at running back, receiver and tight end. Advice: It's an eye-brow raiser, but there's still little reason to believe Stanton will be ready to return just 10 days after spraining his knee. The Cardinals are likely just trying to confuse the situation for the Seahawks. It is a sign, however, that Week 17 could be a realistic possibility. Advice: The word comes straight from the team. Bortles' mid-foot "sprain" is apparently more of a tweak. It's good news for curious Thursday Night Football viewers, but Bortles has been playing absolutely-brutal football. Chad Henne would probably give the Jags a better chance to win, but that's obviously not their top priority right now. Jax needs Bortles to continue his on-the-field development. • Jay Cutler realistic about Bears future
Speaking Thursday, Jay Cutler said he hopes to remain with the Bears beyond 2014, but admitted that it's "definitely" crossed his mind that he may have played his final game in Chicago.

Advice: Admitting he was disappointed by the first benching of his football-playing career, Cutler was realistic about his future in the Windy City. Cutler's seven-year, $126.7 million deal will get labeled as impossible to trade, but that's not necessarily true in a league so starved for quarterback talent. It will only take one team to believe it has what it takes to jump-start Cutler's career. Releasing Cutler isn't a realistic option for the Bears, as they'd absorb $19 million in dead money. • Trestman: Clausen is one-week experiment
Speaking Thursday, Bears coach Marc Trestman left the door open for benched QB Jay Cutler to start in Week 17.

Advice: "This is for this week," Trestman said. "We're not going any farther than our preparation for Detroit." Trestman is clearly trying to keep Cutler's spirits up, but barring a total face-plant from Jimmy Clausen, we'd expect Cutler to remain on the pine for Week 17. Trestman went on to say he believed Cutler could be "revived" from the benching, hinting he's expected to remain the team's quarterback in 2015. That's probably an honest belief, but it's unlikely to be Trestman's decision to make. Clausen doesn't give the Bears a better chance to win than Cutler, but leading the league in turnovers and regressing on a weekly basis, Cutler has little room to complain about being benched. Cam Newton (back) was a full participant in Thursday's practice, and is "on target" to start Sunday's game against the Browns.

Advice: Barring a setback, coach Ron Rivera expects Newton to "probably" start over Derek Anderson. It's a huge boost for the Panthers as they try to stay alive in the NFC South. Newton had his best game of the season in Week 14 before his car accident, but will be a borderline QB1 if he suits up for the fantasy finals. Advice: Bill O'Brien isn't tipping his hand between Keenum and Thad Lewis. But Keenum makes more sense as he was with the team throughout the offseason program and training camp before losing his backup job to Tom Savage and Ryan Mallett. However, Keenum was brutal in four preseason games going 28-of-52 (53.8%) for 254 yards (4.88 YPA) with zero touchdowns and two interceptions, good for a 51.3 passer rating. Although his play has begun to tail off toward the end of the past two years, Peyton has remained an "elite" quarterback in favorable weather. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Bears will start Jimmy Clausen over Jay Cutler in Week 16 against the Lions.

Advice: The Bears are benching Cutler just 14 starts into his seven-year, $127 million extension. Per NFL Network's Mike Silver, coach Marc Trestman felt he could no longer start Cutler "simply to justify a contract" when his on-field play was so poor. • Panthers noncommittal on Cam for Week 16
Panthers coach Ron Rivera was noncommittal Monday when addressing Cam Newton's (back) Week 16 availability.

Advice: Rivera gave away "nothing definitive," but did state Cam will start against the Browns "only if he’s certain Newton can protect himself." Added OC Mike Shula, "I know he’s feeling a lot better than he was Friday and Saturday," Shula said. "He’s moving around, just kind of walking around the building a lot better. So that’s good." It will be a good sign if Cam practices on Wednesday. Rotoworld.com

    • Ryan Lindley named Cardinals' Week 16 starter
Ryan Lindley will be the Cardinals' Week 16 starter at quarterback.

Advice: Lindley's four games of starting experience earn him the nod over fourth-round rookie Logan Thomas. However, coach Bruce Arians continues to insist he'll install a "package" of plays for Thomas against the Seahawks. It makes essentially no difference who gets the call against Seattle. Arians' job will be to put as little as possible on Lindley's plate. Depending on how the game unfolds, Lindley could easily be benched for Thomas. Things are highly likely to get ugly for the 11-3 Cardinals. Rotoworld.com

    • Blake Bortles diagnosed with mid-foot sprain
Blake Bortles has been diagnosed with a mid-foot sprain, and is "questionable" for Thursday's game against the Titans.

Advice: Unless Bortles has the mildest foot sprain ever, we'd consider him more doubtful than questionable to take the field in a little over 72 hours. It's unclear when Bortles suffered the injury in Sunday's (latest) loss, as he played 69-of-69 snaps. Chad Henne will get the call for Thursday Night Football if Bortles can't go, further dulling an already unappealing matchup. Henne would be well off the DFS radar if he gets the call. Rotoworld.com

    • Texans bring back Case Keenum after injuries
Texans signed QB Case Keenum off the Rams' practice squad.

Advice: It made too much sense. The Texans lost Ryan Fitzpatrick to a broken leg and rookie Tom Savage to a potentially-serious knee injury in Week 15, leaving Thad Lewis as the only healthy QB on the roster. Keenum was part of Houston's final cuts in the summer and knows the offense. He may even be asked to start Week 16 against the Ravens if Lewis hasn't fully picked up the system. Rotoworld.com

    • Broncos not concerned about Peyton's thigh
Profootballtalk reports the Broncos are not concerned about Peyton Manning's (thigh) availability for Week 16 against the Bengals.

Advice: Manning was battling flu-like systems coming into Sunday's game against the Chargers and strained his thigh late in the second quarter. The team is chalking it up to dehydration and his illness, which makes plenty of sense since Manning needed an IV ahead of the game. Manning has an extra day to get ready with the Broncos and Bengals playing the final Monday night game of 2014. Rotoworld.com

    • Charlie Whitehurst shut down by Jets
Charlie Whitehurst completed 10-of-24 passes for 203 yards Week 15 against the Jets.

Advice: Whitehurst replaced Jake Locker just before halftime of the Titans' loss. Whitehurst came out firing out of halftime, completing five of his first nine passes and leading the Titans on two third-quarter scoring drives. Whitehurst struggled when it mattered most, though, taking a sack and throwing three awful passes on 1st down from the Jets' 22 with the game on the line. Locker's injury looked bad enough that Whitehurst will likely start the remainder of the season, but he is not a fantasy option. Rotoworld.com

    • Philip Rivers throws two picks in loss
Philip Rivers completed 24-of-41 passes for 232 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions in Sunday's Week 15 loss to the Broncos.

Advice: Although Rivers somehow didn't get sacked, he was under heavy pressure all day and things got even worse when Keenan Allen went down with an ankle injury. It's yet another reminder of how good this Broncos defense can be with Aqib Talib and Chris Harris at corner. Rivers' season has gone in the tank since a red hot first month and a half. He's on the fantasy QB1 fringe. Rotoworld.com

    • Peyton Manning (thigh, illness) held to 1 TD
Peyton Manning completed 14-of-20 passes for 233 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions in Sunday's 22-10 Week 15 at San Diego.

Advice: Just before the game started, word broke that Manning was fighting flu-like symptoms and had received an IV. He also tweaked his thigh late in the second quarter and had to miss one series before emerging after halftime. Still, the culprit for Peyton's box score was once again play selection as the Broncos ran the ball 35 times. Riding C.J. Anderson and an underrated yet elite defense, they've called 105 runs against 78 passes over the last three games. We can't rule out another run-heavy approach at Cincy next week, but we can expect better red-zone efficiency. Connor Barth has 11 field goals over the last three games while Manning has three touchdowns during that span. Rotoworld.com

Peyton Manning (thigh) returned to Sunday's game against the Chargers at the beginning of the third quarter.

Advice: Manning is sick with flu-like symptoms and also appeared to strain a quad late in the second quarter. Brock Osweiler handled the final drive of the first half. However, Manning is going to gut it out. Rotoworld.com

    • Derek Carr has a disastrous game against KC
Derek Carr completed 27-of-56 passes for 222 yards and a touchdown in the Raiders' Week 15 blowout loss to the Chiefs.

Advice: Perhaps the most damning fact about Carr's day is his stat line was significantly helped by garbage time. He was averaging less than three yards an attempt well into the second half and should have thrown at least three interceptions. Carr found no help on his sideline. The Raiders' coaching staff abandoned the run despite the game being close well into the second half and Carr being under almost constant pressure. It was a disaster all around. Carr is best left on the wire in even the deepest of leagues. Rotoworld.com

    • Brotles takes eight sacks in Week 15 loss
Blake Bortles completed 21-of-37 passes for 210 yards, zero touchdowns, and one interception in the Jaguars' 20-12, Week 15 loss to the Ravens.

Advice: Bortles took eight sacks and has been dropped for 46 of them in 11 starts. The Jaguars' best chance at finding the end zone came when they got down to the nine-yard line, but Bortles took back-to-back sacks back to around the 30 and settled for a field goal. Jacksonville has scored just two offensive touchdowns in roughly 45 possessions since the Week 11 bye. • Ryan Fitzpatrick needs surgery, done for year
Ryan Fitzpatrick fractured his tibia during Sunday's Week 15 loss at Indy, ending his season.

Advice: Fitzpatrick's fracture is serious enough that he'll need surgery. It ends a shaky season for the grizzled veteran, as he got benched for Ryan Mallett midseason and struggled to move the ball outside of one Week 13 explosion against the pathetic Titans. Tom Savage will finish out the season as the Texans' starter. Rotoworld.com

    • Ryan Fitzpatrick carted off, Tom Savage in
Ryan Fitzpatrick left Sunday's Week 15 game at Indy in the second quarter with a lower-leg injury.

Advice: Fitzpatrick was trying to scramble between two defenders when he got rolled up on. It's reportedly a season-ending injury (likely a broken leg), and Fitz was carted off while teammates came by to give him a tap on the head. Rookie Tom Savage has come on. Fitz was 3-of-6 for 30 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions before leaving. Rotoworld.com

    • Mort: Drew Stanton (knee) likely out 4 weeks
Appearing on Sunday NFL Countdown, ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported Drew Stanton (knee) is likely to miss four weeks.

Advice: Stanton has sprained ACL and MCLs, which means they're partially torn. The four-week timetable would put Stanton back for the Divisional Round of the playoffs. Arizona desperately needs to win the NFC West and clinch a first-round bye, though we don't believe the talent gap between Stanton and Ryan Lindley is as great as some are making it out to be. Both players are very mediocre. Rotoworld.com

The Cardinals are calling Drew Stanton "week to week" with sprains of his ACL and MCL.

Advice: He's essentially out indefinitely, and perhaps could return in the playoffs, though we wouldn't count on Arizona making it far enough for Stanton to play in January. The Cardinals' quarterback situation will remain murky entering a Week 16 date with Seattle. Ryan Lindley is the tentative favorite to start. Rotoworld.com

    • Report: Drew Stanton has sprained ACL, MCL
Mike Jurecki of FOX Sports 910 reports Drew Stanton suffered a sprained ACL and Grade 2 MCL sprain in Thursday night's Week 15 game against the Rams.

Advice: It could be worse, but it sounds to us like Stanton's season is over, though that could change depending on how far Arizona advances in the playoffs. Heck, Philip Rivers played with a torn ACL a few years ago. Ryan Lindley sits atop the depth chart for the Cardinals, with Logan Thomas No. 2. Expect the Cardinals to add another quarterback to the roster by Monday. Thomas isn't ready for the NFL. Rotoworld.com

Drew Stanton (knee) will undergo an MRI on Friday.

Advice: Whereas it was immediately apparent that Carson Palmer's knee injury was serious, the Cardinals apparently aren't sure what they've got in Stanton's. They also aren't sure if they'll be going with third-year pro Ryan Lindley or fourth-round rookie Logan Thomas if Stanton is out for Week 16. Coach Bruce Arians said Lindley's "experience" was the deciding factor in going with him on Thursday evening. Whoever starts will be getting thrown to the wolves vs. Seattle. Rotoworld.com

    • Bears OC Kromer admits he criticized Cutler
Bears OC Aaron Kromer admitted to the team on Monday that he was an anonymous source in a recent NFL Network report criticizing Jay Cutler.

Advice: That would be Ian Rapoport's "serious buyer's remorse" report, though a "tearful" Kromer "adamantly denied" making the buyer's remorse comments. Whatever Kromer did or didn't exactly say, it's a stunning admission, and indicative of Raiders/Redskins-level dysfunction in Chicago. It's appearing less and less likely that coach Marc Trestman is going to keep his job. Not only has his defense collapsed, but his once-prolific offense has bordered on unwatchable many times over the past 5-6 weeks. Kromer's unprofessional act is going to earn him sideways glances the next time he's looking for a job. Rotoworld.com

    • Ryan Lindley fills in for Drew Stanton
Filling in for an injured Drew Stanton (knee), Ryan Lindley completed 4-of-10 passes for 30 yards in the Cardinals' 12-6, Week 15 win over the Rams.

Advice: Stanton was injured early in the third quarter. Lindley has been on the roster for just 30 days, but got the call over fourth-round rookie Logan Thomas. It's possible coach Bruce Arians still views Thomas as his No. 2, but didn't want to throw him into the fire on the road against an elite defense. Lindley wasn't anything resembling functional, struggling to command the offense while making poor throws. Although he made four starts for the doomed 2012 Cardinals, he couldn't be considered a competent guiding hand were Stanton done for the season. Whatever happens, the Cardinals are in ridiculously bad shape at quarterback. It's a shame for an 11-3 team. Rotoworld.com

    • Drew Stanton leaves game with knee injury
Drew Stanton was forced from Arizona's Week 15 game against the Rams with a right-knee injury, and will not return.

Advice: Stanton could put no weight on his leg before being carted to the locker room. It's possible his season is in doubt. Stanton was replaced by recent practice-squad signee Ryan Lindley, and not fourth-round rookie Logan Thomas. Stanton was struggling mightily before departing, completing just 12-of-20 passes for 109 yards. Stanton was routinely throwing behind his pass catchers, often hanging them out to dry against the Rams' ferocious defense. Rotoworld.com
