Marqise Lee (hamstring) will not practice Thursday.

  • WR Davante Adams has 'earned opportunities'
Coach Mike McCarthy said WR Davante Adams has "earned opportunities" and produced.

Advice: McCarthy declined to name Adams his new starter opposite Jordy Nelson, but it appears we're eventually heading in that direction. After a Jarrett Boykin red-zone drop in Week 2, Adams came on and shined with a 5-50-0 line on seven targets and 37 snaps. As the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel says, Boykin is "steady" but Adams can "stress a defense." The second-round rookie is the one to stash as the potential home run if he can fully pass Boykin. As for this week's potential shootout with the Lions, expect a rotation. Rotoworld.com

Preston Parker is expected to take over as the Giants' third receiver after Jerrel Jernigan's year-ending foot injury.

Beckham hasn't practiced in well over a month. After placing Jerrel Jernigan on I.R. with a mid-foot sprain, the Giants are looking for a new No. 3 receiver and someone to ignite the offense. Advice: WR Julian Talley will take his place on the 53-man roster. It suggests Jernigan is dealing with a dreaded Lisfranc injury, though the Giants say he won't need surgery. Called out by coach Tom Coughlin in training camp, Jernigan had not been an effective as the Giants' fill-in No. 3 receiver this season, catching 6-of-9 targets for 40 yards through 110 snaps. Preseason star Corey Washington should now be in for a bigger role as the Giants await first-rounder Odell Beckham's (hamstring) return. Josh Gordon has pled guilty to DWI charges in Wake County, North Carolina, and been sentenced to 12 months of unsupervised probation.

The league's new drug policy mandates a two-game suspension for players who are convicted or plead out in drunk-driving cases, but Gordon's arrest occurred under the old policy. Per Profootballtalk, he'll only be subject to a fine, and won't have his current 10-game ban lengthened. NFL.com's Albert Breer reports Gordon has been "assured" that's the case. According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Josh Gordon "has been notified" his suspension will be reduced from 16 to 10 games, "pending final approval" of the NFL's new drug policy.

Advice: Profootballtalk.com has now joined the Plain Dealer and ESPN's Adam Schefter in reporting Gordon's suspension will indeed be ten games, reduced from 16. The new substance abuse policy reduced the ban. • Report: Gordon's suspension will be 10 games
The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports Josh Gordon will be suspended ten games under the terms of the NFL's new drug policy.

Advice: It's two more games than expected, but at least Gordon will be available, technically, in Weeks 12-17 for the Browns. That assumes he makes no mistakes during the ten-game ban, and no more games are tacked on for his offseason DUI arrest. We suspect fantasy owners will have a tough time hanging onto Gordon as bye-week crunches set in, but it's certainly worth trying in 12- and 14-team leagues. Gordon was already suspended for Week 1, and the Browns' bye is in Week 4, so the projected return date is Week 12. • Report: Gordon's ban won't be fully reversed
Appearing on ESPN's NFL Insiders Thursday, Adam Schefter reported Josh Gordon would still be looking at a suspension in the event of a new drug agreement, possibly in the range of 6-10 games.

Advice: Per Schefter, the NFL and NFLPA are hoping to finalize a new agreement by Thursday evening. It's suspected Wes Welker's ban will be wiped out, but Gordon's case is trickier since his positive test came during the 2013 league year. At the end of the day, we're unlikely to know Gordon's fate before the league makes an official announcement. There's simply too much conflicting information right now. Rotoworld.com

  • Jags' Lee (hamstring) practicing on Thursday
Jaguars WR Marqise Lee (hamstring) participated in Thursday's practice.

Advice: Lee was officially listed as "full," which is an extremely promising sign for his Week 2 status after he suffered the injury in Wednesday's practice. With Cecil Shorts battling a hamstring injury of his own, Lee will offer WR4 upside as long as he can avoid setbacks and suit up against the Redskins. Rotoworld.com

  • NFLPA vote on drug policy won't be Thursday
The vote among NFLPA reps on a new drug policy is not expected until Friday at the earliest.

Advice: Josh Gordon, Wes Welker and other recently suspended players remain in limbo. The union is awaiting a response from the league to its latest recommendations before they actually hold their vote, and the league office is a engulfed with the Ray Rice scandal right now. The two sides appear close on a deal, but there are "issues with language on multiple issues, including commissioner authority in the appeals process." Gordon remains worth stashing in all formats even though this isn't going to get sorted out before Sunday. Rotoworld.com

  • Marqise Lee pulls hamstring on Wednesday
Marqise Lee couldn't finish practice after pulling his hamstring Wednesday.

Advice: Lee was officially limited. It's not a good sign for his Week 2 availability. Luckily for the Jaguars, Cecil Shorts returned to a limited practice after sitting out Week 1 with a hamstring injury of his own. Lee will be updated Thursday. Rotoworld.com

Lance Moore (groin) remains sidelined at Steelers practice.

  • Dri Archer (ankle) not practicing Tuesday
Steelers RB/KR Dri Archer (ankle) did not practice on Tuesday.

Advice: He was downgraded from limited on Monday. Archer was forced from the Week 1 opener against the Browns with both ankle and knee injuries. Archer isn't much of a factor on offense; he returned two kickoffs before going down. Rotoworld.com

  • Robert Woods played on 91% of snaps
Robert Woods played on 52-of-57 snaps in Sunday's win over the Bears.

Advice: Watkins clearly ran ahead of No. 3 WR Mike Williams (30 snaps), out-targeting him 6-3. The quick-footed second-year receiver doesn't have a ton of upside as the No. 2 target for E.J. Manuel in a run-heavy scheme, but he's on the WR4/5 radar now. Rotoworld.com

  • Davante Adams started to 'take off'
The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel says WR Davante Adams "started to take off" in the final weeks of training camp.

Advice: Adams came on strong after a slow start to camp and ran as the No. 4 receiver in Week 1. The second-round rookie was not targeted on nine snaps, but his progress is worth monitoring. Adams, a versatile receiver, will be a strong fantasy add if any of Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb or Jarrett Boykin goes down. Rotoworld.com

  • Jernigan catches four passes in Week 1 loss
Jerrel Jernigan caught four passes for 25 yards in the Giants' Week 1 loss to Detroit on Monday night.

Advice: Jernigan was targeted seven times, one behind Larry Donnell for the team lead. Jernigan is an average talent with little upside. He failed to get his head around on a couple of passes his direction and had some communication issues with Eli Manning. Jernigan is waiver-wire fodder in 12-team leagues. Rotoworld.com

Giants declared WR Odell Beckham, OL Adam Snyder, OT Charles Brown, DE Kerry Wynn, OL James Brewer, DT Markus Kuhn, and DT Jay Bromley inactive for Week 1 against the Lions.

Advice: Giants MLB Jon Beason (foot) is active, as expected, while Jameel McClain will start at strong-side linebacker. Beckham was ruled out late last week. The Giants seem to be targeting Week 3 or 4 for the first-rounder to debut. Rotoworld.com
