  • Mike James totals -1 yards in blowout loss
Mike James rushed four times for four yards in Tampa Bay's Week 3 loss to the Falcons.

Advice: James caught a pass, but lost five yards. James briefly spelled Bobby Rainey after Rainey's first of two lost fumbles, but the Bucs quickly thought better of it. A distant third behind Rainey and Doug Martin, James is off the radar in 12-14 team leagues. Rotoworld.com

Brandon Myers caught 5-of-5 targets for 33 yards in Tampa Bay's 56-14, Week 3 loss to the Falcons.

Advice: We suppose Myers was a highlight on a night where the Bucs suffered one of the worst losses in team history. The barely-there TE2 now has 13 catches for 107 yards through three games. You can make better use of a roster spot in 12-team leagues. Rotoworld.com

Levine Toilolo caught 2-of-2 targets for 25 yards in Atlanta's Week 3 win over the Bucs, also losing a fumble.

Advice: Toilolo nearly killed the Falcons' second drive by letting the ball get punched out from behind, but the Falcons got it back after Devin Hester forced a fumble of his own on Mark Barron's return. Toilolo wasn't targeted in the red zone this evening even though Atlanta scored 56 points. Toilolo is Joseph Fauria 2.0 for fantasy purposes. Rotoworld.com

  • Jacquizz Rodgers manages only nine yards
Jacquizz Rodgers rushed five times for six yards in Atlanta's Week 3 romp over the Bucs, adding a three-yard reception.

Advice: On a night where the Falcons scored 56 points, Quizz managed all of nine yards. Rodgers received a carry from the Bucs' five-yard line in the first quarter, but got stuffed for a three-yard loss. Rodgers has proven time and again that he's a replacement-level back, at best, but remains a firm No. 2 in the Falcons' four-man committee. He has no value in 12-14 team leagues. Rotoworld.com

  • Antone Smith finds pay dirt in easy win
Antone Smith rushed four times for 50 yards and a touchdown in Atlanta's Week 3 win over the Bucs, also losing a fumble.

Advice: Smith's score was one of his patented big plays, as he rushed 38 yards through a tired and miserable Bucs defense to put the Falcons up 56-0 in the fourth quarter. He found the hole, then the edge and was off to the races. Smith's fumble came at the Bucs' one-yard line the end of a shifty 10-yard scamper in the second quarter. Smith has proven time and again he's worthy of more work as a change-of-pace back, but the Falcons don't appear ready to give it to him. That keeps him off the radar in 12-14 team leagues. Devonta Freeman rushed 11 times for 12 yards in Atlanta's Week 3, blowout win over the Bucs, adding a seven-yard reception while also losing a fumble.

Advice: Getting major second-half run in a game the Falcons led 35-0 at halftime, Freeman had a chance to stuff the stat-sheet, but instead got stuffed. His fumble was soft, as he let the ball get tomahawked out from behind. Still a clear No. 4 on the Falcons' running back depth chart, Freeman isn't looking like much of a stash in 12-team re-draft leagues. Rotoworld.com

Advice: Speaking after Thursday's blowout win, coach Mike Smith implied White would have played had the Falcons not been on a short week. He now has 10 days to get ready for Atlanta's Week 4 trip to Minnesota. A former iron man, White hasn't been anyone's idea of durable over the past two seasons, but is a cinch WR2 whenever he's healthy and playing opposite all-world beast Julio Jones. Rotoworld.com

  • Doug Martin officially ruled out for Week 3
Doug Martin (knee) is inactive for Week 3 against the Falcons.

Advice: The Bucs had been hinting all week that Martin would suit up, but that changed Thursday afternoon. His absence leaves Bobby Rainey as a high-upside RB2 against a Falcons defense that's gotten smoked by the run the past two weeks. Rainey will be spelled by Mike James. Martin is week to week, with a strong chance at returning in Week 4. It could be as a backup if Rainey has another big game, however. Also inactive for the Bucs are DT Gerald McCoy, TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins, LB Mason Foster, OT Kevin Pamphile, OG Kadeem Edwards and OG Rishaw Johnson. Rotoworld.com

Roddy White (hamstring) is inactive for Week 3 against the Bucs.

Advice: The Falcons had intimated all week that White would suit up, but that changed on Thursday afternoon. White should return for Week 4, but the former iron man has now missed four of the Falcons' past 19 games, and played at less than 100 percent in many more. His absence leaves Julio Jones as a target monster, and Harry Douglas as a legitimate WR3. Devin Hester will run deep routes as the Falcons' No. 3 receiver. White didn't miss a snap in Sunday's loss to the Bengals. We'll know whether or not White is active by 7ET, but even if he does suit up, it's possible he could be limited to decoy duties. Advice: Martin will test out his knee pregame before the Bucs make his status official. But it's now crystal clear that Bobby Rainey is a borderline RB1 play against a Falcons defense that has already given up 284 yards and five touchdowns to opponent tailbacks. • Rainey to start over Doug Martin Thursday?
The Tampa Bay Times says Bobby Rainey will start Thursday's game against the Falcons.

Advice: "Not just because of Doug Martin's knee. Coaches really like [Rainey]," said beat writer Rick Stroud. To be clear, this looks like educated speculation, not sourced reporting. Coach Lovie Smith has declined to name a starter, only saying he wants to use a committee. But it's not that far-fetched to think that the Bucs want to ride Rainey's hot hand after he put up 174 total yards on 25 touches in Week 2. It's a messy situation, but at this point we'd give Rainey the edge as the better flex play in this cake matchup. Martin is averaging a pathetic 3.41 YPC over the last two seasons (seven games). Advice: Even a lot of Tannehill's completions haven't been in the ideal spot. Through two games, he ranks 29th in completion percentage (60.5) and 29th in passer rating (76.1). It's a troubling step back for a player that appeared poised to take the next step in his third NFL season. Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune's "hunch" is that one of the Bears' starting wide receivers plays Sunday night against the 49ers, but doesn't provide a guess as to whom it will be.

Advice: We would add however, that ESPN's Adam Schefter stated Sunday he would be "really" surprised if Alshon Jeffery (hamstring, questionable) played. Just from reading tea leaves, we'd advise fantasy owners to sit tight with Marshall while handcuffing him with Santonio Holmes. Jeffery owners should explore early-game alternatives. Rotoworld.com

  • Marshall and Jeffery looking doubtful for SNF
A source informed ESPN's Adam Schefter that he's "75 percent" sure neither Brandon Marshall (ankle) nor Alshon Jeffery (hamstring) plays Sunday night against the 49ers.

Advice: Both are listed as questionable. Marshall didn't practice at all this week, while Jeffery squeezed in a limited session on Friday. They're both shaping up as game-time decisions. The Bears signed two receivers from the practice squad Saturday. Santonio Holmes is the next man up for Chicago. Rotoworld.com

  • Brandon Marshall able to 'lightly jog'
Brandon Marshall (ankle, questionable) was able to "lightly jog" during Friday's pre-practice walkthrough.

Advice: He didn't actually practice, but is at least trying to get his ankle right ahead of Sunday night's clash with the 49ers. Marshall is expected to be a game-time decision. We're guessing he'll play, but, again, that's entirely a guess. Fantasy owners need to track the situation into Saturday and early Sunday. Rotoworld.com

  • De'Anthony Thomas ruled out for Week 2
Chiefs rookie RB/WR De'Anthony Thomas (hamstring) has been ruled out for Week 2 against Denver.

Advice: There's not much going right for the Chiefs these days. This is actually a downgrade from last week for Thomas, when he was listed as "doubtful." Rotoworld.com

  • Bears list Marshall & Jeffery as questionable
Brandon Marshall (ankle) and Alshon Jeffery (hamstring) are both listed as questionable for Sunday Night Football at San Francisco.

Advice: Marshall didn't get any practice reps all week, although that may have been by design. It isn't completely abnormal for Marshall to play despite not practicing. He's likely staring at a game-time decision, however. Jeffery did practice on a limited basis Friday, which is a good sign. He's also likely to be a game-time call. Hopefully we'll get more news on Saturday. Rotoworld.com

  • Martavis Bryant leads Steelers' inactives
Steelers declared WR Martavis Bryant, WR Lance Moore, RB/KR Dri Archer, QB Landry Jones, C Wesley Johnson, OG Chris Hubbard and NT Daniel McCullers inactive for Week 2 against the Ravens.

Advice: Bryant was on the injury report with a shoulder issue, but got in a full week of practice. With Bryant and Moore unavailable, Justin Brown will once again run in the slot. He's not a fantasy consideration. Rotoworld.com

  • Brandon Marshall 'hopes' to test ankle Friday
Brandon Marshall (ankle) remained out of Bears practice Thursday.

Advice: Speaking afterward, Marshall said he "hopes" to test his ankle out on Friday. It's not exactly the certainty fantasy owners are looking for, though he did add "Alshon Jeffery (hamstring) and I are doing our best to get back out there." Marshall has made a living playing through minor injuries, but his status can no longer be taken for granted for Sunday's enticing matchup with the undermanned 49ers. The duo's status will be updated Friday. Rotoworld.com

  • Brandon Marshall not practicing Wednesday
Brandon Marshall (ankle) did not practice Wednesday.

Advice: Alshon Jeffery (hamstring) also didn't practice. Marshall played through his ankle injury last week and expects to start against the 49ers. His status will be updated no later than Thursday. Rotoworld.com

  • De'Anthony Thomas still not ready to practice
De'Anthony Thomas (hamstring) has yet to resume practicing.

Advice: Thomas missed Week 1 after suffering a hamstring injury during the week. He was replaced by Frankie Hammond on punt returns. Thomas will need to return by Friday to have any chance of playing against the Broncos. Rotoworld.com

  • Brandon Marshall says his ankle is fine
Brandon Marshall (ankle) said he'll be "ready to play" in Sunday night's Week 2 matchup with the 49ers.

Advice: Marshall injured his ankle making a seven-yard catch against the Bills. He reentered the game, but appeared to aggravate the injury again in the fourth quarter. Marshall is a locked-in WR1 no matter what team he's facing. Rotoworld.com

  • Martavis Bryant (shoulder) practicing in full
Martavis Bryant (shoulder) is practicing in full this week.

Advice: Bryant missed the Week 1 opener with a sprained AC joint he suffered in the preseason. The 118th overall pick in May's draft should make his debut Thursday night against the Ravens. He has no re-draft value as the No. 4 receiver. Rotoworld.com

  • Stepfan Taylor catches TD in win over Bolts
Stepfan Taylor caught three passes for 21 yards and one touchdown in Arizona's Week 1 win over the Chargers, adding five yards rushing on one attempt.

Advice: Taylor was the third back in the game behind Andre Ellington (foot) and Jonathan Dwyer. He got some run in the red zone early in the fourth quarter while Ellington nursed his injury. Taylor ended up catching a five-yard score from Carson Palmer on a rollout. Taylor isn't a fantasy option, and won't be anything more than a weak one in the event Ellington ever misses extended time.
