Titans coach Ken Whisenhunt has confirmed Marcus Mariota is the team's starter.

Advice: Speaking about the Titans' "quarterback competition," Whisenhunt was emphatic that it was "after Marcus." It's not in any way surprising, but the Titans aren't going to make the No. 2 overall pick jump through any artificial hoops on his way to No. 1 status. Rotoworld.com 56 minutes ago

  • Judge kicks Tom Brady case back to New York
A Minnesota judge has transferred the NFLPA's Tom Brady lawsuit back to New York.

Advice: The NFLPA filed the suit in Minnesota in an effort to get Judge David Doty, who has historically sided with the Player's Association. U.S. District Judge Richard Kyle saw through that, kicking the case back to Manhattan where the NFL preemptively filed. "The Court sees little reason for this action to have been commenced in Minnesota at all," Kyle wrote. "Brady plays for a team in Massachusetts; the Union is headquartered in Washington, D.C.; the NFL is headquartered in New York; the arbitration proceedings took place in New York; and the award was issued in New York." Garoppolo impressed last preseason and is slated to start the Patriots' first four games with Tom Brady on suspension. Brady is continuing to fight the ban, however. And I'm not afraid, so let's go." The potential for this offense is through the roof and vastly undervalued in fantasy because of the perception of Andy Dalton. But Dalton was playing with a short deck last season where Mohamed Sanu was his No. 1 receiver in a number of games. With A.J. Suspended QB Tom Brady wrote on Facebook Wednesday morning, "I am very disappointed by the NFL’s decision to uphold the 4 game suspension against me. I did nothing wrong, and no one in the Patriots organization did either."

Advice: "...To try and reconcile the record and fully cooperate with the investigation after I was disciplined in May, we turned over detailed pages of cell phone records and all of the emails that Mr. [Ted] Wells requested," Brady continued. "...There is no "smoking gun" and this controversy is manufactured to distract from the fact they have zero evidence of wrongdoing. I authorized the NFLPA to make a settlement offer to the NFL so that we could avoid going to court and put this inconsequential issue behind us as we move forward into this season. The discipline was upheld without any counter offer. I respect the Commissioner's authority, but he also has to respect the CBA and my rights as a private citizen. PFT's Mike Florio reports the NFL offered suspended QB Tom Brady a two-game reduction on his four-game suspension in exchange for a guilty admission.

Advice: Per Florio's source, Brady had to admit to having knowledge of whatever ball men John Jastremski and Jim McNally were doing to the footballs, admit to failing to cooperate with the Ted Wells investigation and then apologize. Brady's ban would have then dropped to at least two games and possibly one. Advice: In other words, they're suing Brady before he can sue them. Brady's 2014-15 decision to slightly under-inflate his footballs has resulted in an all-out war with the league. Brady will reportedly "seek an injunction that will allow him to play while his case works its way through the courts." Buried in the league's statement was confirmation that Brady destroyed his cellphone, apparently on the same day he met with investigator Ted Wells. Appearing on ESPN, Stephen A. Smith said the NFL will announce Tom Brady's four-game suspension has been upheld within the next 24-48 hours.

Advice: Stephen A. is not the kind of media personality we like to cite for breaking news. Titans signed No. 2 overall pick Marcus Mariota to a four-year, $24.2 million contract with a club option for year five.

Advice: Finally. Mariota was the last first-round rookie to sign as the sides haggled over offset language. Per Terry McCormick of Titan Insider, Mariota and the team wound up compromising on "partial offsets." The Titans drew a ton of negative publicity for their delay in getting Mariota under contract, but he didn't miss any portion of the offseason because of it, and will be on time for training camp. By all accounts, Mariota was extremely impressive at OTAs and minicamp, showing pinpoint accuracy. He has the tools to turn around the Titans' franchise. Rotoworld.com Tuesday, 4:31 pm

  • Report: NYG hopes to extend Eli Manning soon
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Giants hope to finalize an Eli Manning contract extension sometime in the next few weeks.

Advice: Manning is entering the final season of the seven-year, $106.9 million contract he signed in August of 2009. He's now likely angling for something around the five-year, $99 million extension Ben Roethlisberger signed with the Steelers four months ago. That deal contained $64 million guaranteed, including a $31 million signing bonus. Manning, who will turn 35 in January, hasn't missed a game since his rookie year and set career-highs in completion percentage (63.1), yards (4,410) and QBR (70.93) last season. • Sam Bradford to play out final year of deal
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports contract-year QB Sam Bradford plans to play out the final year of his deal.

Advice: It's a smart move by Bradford, whose value is probably as low as it's been as he comes off back-to-back ACL surgeries. He also played in one of the league's worst offenses in St. Louis and now gets to play under quarterback-friendly Chip Kelly. It's an opportunity for him to not only rehab his stock, but also maximize it. With a solid, healthy season, Bradford could command an Andy Dalton deal. Rotoworld.com Monday, 4:17 pm
