  • Paper expects Colts to re-sign Coby Fleener
The Indianapolis Star expects the Colts to re-sign free agent Coby Fleener.

Advice: Both Fleener and Dwayne Allen are free agents, but reporter Zak Keefer believes Fleener's durability and pass-catching prowess make him a more likely re-sign than Allen. Allen was primarily utilized as a blocker in 2015, and has a long injury history. New OC Rob Chudzinski is known for featuring tight ends, so it remains possible both players are brought back, and kept in a fantasy value-sapping committee. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 6:52 pm

  • Hasselbeck 'strongly leaning' toward return
Free agent Matt Hasselbeck is "strongly leaning" toward playing in 2016.

Advice: It's a bit surprising, as Hasselbeck, now 40, got beaten to smithereens in 2015. Hasselbeck was reasonably effective for a backup when he took the field, but highly prone to injury. He has zero arm strength downfield. Even if Hasselbeck officially decides to return, the Colts would do well to search for an upgrade behind Andrew Luck. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 6:20 pm

  • Dwayne Allen likely to leave in free agency?
The Indianapolis Star expects Dwayne Allen to depart in free agency.

Advice: Allen was used extensively as a blocker in 2015, drawing only 29 targets. He caught all of 16 passes after scoring eight touchdowns in 2014. Per reporter Zak Keefer, Allen's "frustration was evident." For what it's worth, Allen has said he'd like to re-sign with the Colts, though ESPN's Mike Wells also considers it unlikely. New OC Rob Chudzinski frequently features tight ends, so the Colts will likely at least make a reasonable attempt to keep Allen. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 5:00 pm

  • No decision on warrants in LeSean McCoy case
CSN Philly reports Philadelphia authorities won't make a decision on issuing arrest warrants in the LeSean McCoy assault case until next week.

Advice: The longer McCoy goes without getting charged, the better. Beyond a potential one or two game suspension, McCoy's 2016 status doesn't appear to be under a cloud. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 2:07 pm

  • C.J. Anderson believes he can be bell-cow RB
C.J. Anderson believes he can be a bell-cow back.

Advice: "Oh, I know that’s something I can do," Anderson said Thursday. "You know, we chose to go the two-back route. ... But I mean if they want me to touch the ball 25 times, 27 times, 28 times, either way, whether it’s all carries or carries and catches, I believe I can handle it always." Anderson proved that down the stretch in 2014, where he handled truly monstrous workloads, and again in Super Bowl 50, where he touched the ball 27 times. Denver's insistence on mixing in a monumentally ineffective Ronnie Hillman after Anderson returned to full health was baffling. We'd expect Anderson, who is a restricted free agent, to return to Denver as the obvious starter. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 11:39 am

  • Texans owner: We need to spark running game
Texans owner Bob McNair believes the team needs to "get our running game going again."

Advice: "We'll be working on those things," McNair said. The Houston Chronicle expects the Texans to move on from Arian Foster, who is due $6.5 million after tearing his Achilles'. Cutting Foster would create $6.625 million in cap space. It would be a sensible move, but the Texans lack an heir apparent on their current roster. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 11:32 am

  • Jones 'normal' as possible after nerve damage
Lions WR T.J. Jones said he is as "normal" as possible after missing 2014 with nerve damage.

Advice: Complications from a shoulder injury caused nerve damage which limited the feeling in Jones' hands. The issue cost Jones his entire rookie season and limited him early last season, but he started to feel more normal as the year progressed. With Calvin Johnson looking likely to retire, the 2014 sixth-rounder has a shot to earn a bigger role next season. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 8:06 am

  • Whisenhunt praises Gordon's receiving skills
In a radio interview, new Chargers OC Ken Whisenhunt praised Melvin Gordon's (knee) ability as a receiver.

Advice: "I think one of the things that really impressed me the most, which you don't really get a sense for of him playing college football, is how good of a receiver he is coming out of the backfield," Whisenhunt said. "He made some really good plays in that area." Gordon was not heavily involved in the passing game at Wisconsin, but he looked good converting 33-of-37 targets for 192 yards as a rookie. His opportunities in the passing game will always be limited with Danny Woodhead around, but Gordon has proven he is not a liability on passing downs. Rotoworld.com Yesterday, 6:42 am

  • Matt Forte 'perfect fit' in Patriots offense?
ESPN Boston's Mike Reiss believes free agent Matt Forte "could be a perfect fit" with the Patriots.

Advice: The price would have to be right -- the Pats aren't the sort of team to pay top dollar for a 30-year-old running back -- but on paper there isn't a better fit across the league than Forte in Foxboro. Reiss previously suggested the Patriots will "explore the possibility" of signing Forte. LeGarrette Blount is a free agent, while space back Dion Lewis is rehabbing a torn ACL. Andy Dalton (thumb) hasn't begun throwing yet.

Advice: "Not throwing yet because we are being very conservative with it," said Dalton in a text message earlier this week. "I feel like I can throw but no reason to push anything right now." • Investigators recommend charges against McCoy
ABC Philadelphia reports investigators are recommending the District Attorney's office file criminal charges against LeSean McCoy for his alleged assault.

Advice: Arrest warrants for McCoy and three other alleged assailants are expected to be served Wednesday or Thursday. McCoy is being accused of assaulting two off-duty police officers at a Philadelphia nightclub last Saturday night/Sunday morning. This has a long way to go, but it's possible McCoy serves time on the Commissioner/Exempt List. He could eventually become a candidate for in-season suspension, depending on what the investigation shows. Rotoworld.com Wednesday, 11:43 am

  • Could Titans be interested in Doug Martin?
TitanInsider's Terry McCormick wonders if the Titans could be interested in free agent Doug Martin.

Advice: McCormick is simply connecting the dots, as new Titans GM Jon Robinson was hired away from the Bucs and obviously has a familiarity with Martin. Martin has expressed his desire to re-sign with Tampa Bay, but running backs typically chase the highest dollar since their shelf lives are much shorter. The Titans have a mound of money to blow and a desperate need at running back. Rotoworld.com Wednesday, 10:46 am

  • Colts 'likely' to move on from Andre Johnson
The Indianapolis Star's Zak Keefer considers it "likely" the Colts release Andre Johnson.

Advice: The Colts were lauded for their signing of Johnson last offseason following his release from the division-rival Texans, but apparently Houston knew something most of us didn't; Johnson was done or close to it. Now going on age 35 and coming off a horrific 41-503-4 line, Johnson may be one-and-done in Indy. The Colts can save $5 million against the cap by releasing Johnson. They can move forward with T.Y. Hilton, Donte Moncrief, and Phillip Dorsett. Rotoworld.com Wednesday, 8:13 am

  • Gore says 2015 was toughest season rushing
Frank Gore said the 967 yards he rushed for this past season were the "toughest 967 I got" in his entire career.

Advice: It was the first time in five seasons that Gore failed to reach 1,000 yards. Many will cite Gore's age (33 in May) as the reason for his decline, but the Colts' offensive line was flat-out awful. It nearly got Andrew Luck and Matt Hasselbeck killed in pass protection, and the group opened microscopic holes in the running game. In Football Outsiders' DVOA, the Colts fielded the 27th-ranked run-blocking line. Gore should return as the starter in 2016 and could have a sneaky bounce back if GM Ryan Grigson adds talent up front. Rotoworld.com Wednesday, 8:07 am

  • Ravens not expected to re-sign Chris Givens
The Baltimore Sun's Jeff Zrebiec doesn't expect the Ravens to re-sign free agent Chris Givens.

Advice: Givens posted a 19-346-1 line across 12 games with the Ravens after coming over in a trade with the Rams. He saw his snaps increase after Steve Smith Sr. tore his Achilles', but the extra work didn't lead to many plays for Givens, who struggles with anything outside of a "go" route. Givens hasn't made much noise since a decent 42-698-3 rookie season back in 2012. Rotoworld.com Wednesday, 7:01 am

  • Storm Johnson works out for the Bengals
Free agent RB Storm Johnson worked out for the Bengals last week.

Advice: Johnson didn't play in 2015 after he failed to make it out of final cuts with the Jaguars. The 2014 seventh-rounder averaged a pitiful 3.0 YPC on 29 carries as a rookie and was subject of criticism from coach Gus Bradley last spring. Rotoworld.com Wednesday, 6:46 am

  • LeSean McCoy would be difficult to release
$2.5 million of LeSean McCoy's $4.8 million salary for 2016 is guaranteed.

Advice: The rest of it becomes guaranteed when the new league year begins on March 9. In other words, the Bills would have little financial incentive to move on from McCoy if he ends up getting charged in his assault case. Cutting McCoy now would create a whopping $10.5 million in dead money, and suck up an additional $5.325 million in cap space. Unless there are new, more explosive details yet to be released, we'd fully expect McCoy to keep his roster spot. Rotoworld.com Tuesday, 1:37 pm

  • Arrest warrant 'imminent' for LeSean McCoy
FOX Sports' Mike Garafolo reports LeSean McCoy is expected to be served with a self-surrender arrest warrant by the middle of the week.

Advice: ESPN's Mark Schwarz reports a warrant is "imminent." McCoy and three other men including ex-Chargers RB Curtis Brinkley are alleged to have assaulted at least two off-duty police officers over a bottle of champagne. Under the new personal conduct policy, players can be placed on the commissioner exempt list if formally charged with a violent crime. If placed on the exempt list, McCoy would remain on paid leave until the criminal proceedings are completed. Rotoworld.com Tuesday, 5:54 am

Philadelphia Police confirmed two off-duty officers were hospitalized after an altercation inside a nightclub early Sunday morning.

CSN Philadelphia reports LeSean McCoy was allegedly involved in the assault of three off-duty Philadelphia police officers early Monday morning.

Advice: McCoy, former NFL RB Curtis Brinkley, former Pitt WR T.J. Porter and Christopher Henderson reportedly got into a physical altercation over a bottle of champagne with three off-duty officers around 2:45 a.m. Monday morning at the Recess Lounge in Philadelphia. ABC 6 reports two of the officers were hospitalized as a result of the altercation, and Fox 29's Dave Schratwieser reports one of the officers suffered a fractured skull. • Anderson rushes 23-90-1 against Panthers
C.J. Anderson rushed 23 times for 90 yards and a touchdown and caught 4-of-4 targets for ten yards in the Broncos' Super Bowl win over the Panthers.

Advice: Anderson finally and deservedly got the start over Ronnie Hillman and capitalized early with runs of 8 and 12 on his first two carries. Anderson added a tackle-busting 34-yard burst in the second quarter. His one-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter put icing on Denver's win. Although Anderson's slow start and committee with Ronnie Hillman rendered him a fantasy football disappointment, Anderson was very arguably the Broncos' best offensive player from Week 7 on. 25-year-old Anderson now heads to restricted free agency, where he should earn at least a second-round tender. The Broncos indeed started C.J. Anderson over Ronnie Hillman in Super Bowl 50.

Advice: Longtime beat writer Mike Klis reported this would happen before game time. Anderson has been a far superior runner to Hillman since the first six weeks of the season, and is now being featured ahead of Hillman in Sunday's bout with the Panthers. 9 News Denver's Mike Klis reports the Broncos will start C.J. Anderson over Ronnie Hillman in Super Bowl 50.

Advice: Hillman has technically been Denver's starter since Week 6, after Anderson got off to a painfully slow start. Anderson has severely outplayed Hillman ever since and especially in the playoffs, where Hillman is averaging 2.00 yards per carry and Anderson is averaging nearly five.
