Fantasy football owners will accept any point margin to keep a win streak alive, but if you are able to win in a commanding fashion, it makes the streak all the more sweet. That is what G Men accomplished this week when they put up the highest score of the week, and won their third consecutive win, edging T-bone 174.78 to 171.68. The streak has changed the season for G Men. They went from seventh place to fifth since Week 9. They're doing it with high scoring output, and own the third-highest overall point total in the league this season. During this run, they're averaging 199.81 points per matchup, 120.0% of their norm. T-bone got zero points from Eric Ebron, which might have made the difference in the outcome. T-bone holds steady in first place with a 9-2 record. G Men has now blown through Kicking Your Grass (211.14 to 139.82) and GreenBaller (213.52 to 176.48).

Smooth Moves by G Men

  • Special teams just got a bit more special this week, thanks to Graham Gano. His 16.00 points was the highest total among kickers for the week and the fifth-highest K score in the league this season.
  • Not the best, but in the conversation. Blake Bortles ranked seventh in the league in scoring this week with 60.58 points. It was also the fifth-highest score of any player on G Men this season.
  • With 8.00 points, the Houston Texans Defense, which G Men picked up this week, beat their 5.99-point projection by 33.6%.
  • Doug Martin scored 37.50 points, which ranked second out of all the RBs in the league this week.
  • What do Apache helicopters, F-117 Nighthawks and Mike Evans have in common? They are all dangerous aerial weapons. He ranked ninth in the league in scoring among WRs this week with 12.30 points.

Toyota Roster Tune-up

  • Tough week, T-bone. We can only assume that all your starters were on bye this week.
  • This is how people lose everything in casinos. T-bone thought their luck would change and went back to the well with Calvin Johnson. However, he scored 8.80 points against a projected 13.30 and has now underachieved in three straight games.
  • With 55.08 points, Tom Brady had his lowest output of the season and tallied just 72.3% of his 76.19 projected points, his lowest percentage of the year.
  • It was a season-low scoring total for Justin Forsett, who had 4.60 points. He had a projected total of 17.19 points and this week was the fourth straight game of underperformance versus his projection.
  • 6 of the starters on T-bone scored less than their projected points.

What If

  • If G Men played T-bone every week, they'd be 4-7 this season.
  • G Men would've been undefeated if they played every team in the league this week.
  • Were they resting their players for this week? G Men would have defeated T-bone 213.52 - 191.66 had they played each other last week.
  • G Men would be 7-2 if they played the same schedule as T-bone.
  • If G Men had played every team in the league each week, they would be 52-47.
  • In addition to G Men, T-bone would have lost to just two other teams this week.
  • T-bone would be 6-3 if they played the same schedule as G Men.
  • If they played every team every week, T-bone would be 70-29.

Game Notes

  • The 174.78 points by G Men led the league. It is the second time they have led the league in scoring this season.
  • Although T-bone lost, they did put up the 10th-highest score for a losing team in the league this season.
  • Eat. Sleep. Conquer. Repeat. G Men has won three games in a row, the longest current winning streak in the league.
  • G Men put up their smallest winning point total of the year.
  • The tragedy of being an underachiever is that T-bone knows what they should be, but reality keeps telling them that they're wrong. They scored 171.68 points against a projected 194.14 and underachieved for the fifth time this season, including the last three weeks in a row.
  • The margin of victory for the matchup ended up being the smallest in the league this week at 3.10 points.
  • T-bone had their three-game win streak snapped in the loss.
  • G Men stays undefeated in close games this season at 2-0.

Mark Rypien Was - QB 1991 vs. Atlanta 442 passing yards, 6 TD passes, 4 rushing yards, 1 TD rush In a season that would culminate with a Super Bowl MVP award, Washington QB Mark Rypien’s finest performance came in Week 11, as he riddled the Falcons secondary for 6 TD passes, while also rushing for a score.

Since the AFL/NFL merger, only Michael Vick (Week 10 of ’10) has posted a higher single-game fantasy tally at the QB position. It was an especially standout performance for Rypien, who eclipsed 269 passing just one other time during the ’91 season, and failed to top three touchdown passes in any other game.
Each week of the season we will bring you the top fantasy football performances of the past 10+ years for that week.
