  • Michael Campanaro on track for camp
Ravens WR Michael Campanaro (quad) is expected to be ready for training camp.

Advice: Campanaro has been sidelined with a torn quad since the start of OTAs. He’ll enter camp no higher than the No. 5 receiver. Campanaro is the favorite to replace Jacoby Jones on punt returns.

  • Bills could ask Mario Williams to restructure
The Bills are expected to approach Mario Williams about restructuring his contract.

Advice: Williams has three years and $55-plus million remaining on his deal. Buffalo wants to lower his cap number to free up money for a Marcell Dareus extension. The Bills have the third-lowest cap space for 2016, behind only Miami and New Orleans.

  • Brandin Cooks 'playing faster' in Saints offense
The Saints expect Brandin Cooks to play faster this season.

Advice: "He’s in his second year with a lot more knowledge of what we’re doing," Coach Sean Payton said. "That allows [him] to play faster. He’s progressed well." The Saints are expected to throw less as they move to a run-balanced offense, but Cooks projects for high-volume targets as Drew Brees’s top option. Cooks is the No. 16 wideout in our early 2015 rankings.

  • Letroy Guion facing civil suit in Florida
Packers NT Letroy Guion is facing a civil suit over a 2013 altercation in which no criminal charges were filed.

Advice: The suit in Bradford County, Fla. has been filed by the boyfriend of the mother of Guion's child. It claims Guion struck the boyfriend in the head causing "physical pain, suffering and mental and emotional anguish" and that Guion allegedly sent threats of physical violence. This sounds like a classic case of someone coming after Guion's money. His agent vehemently denies the allegations.

  • Cowboys believe Dez holdout threat is a bluff
Bleacher Report's Jason Cole reports the Cowboys believe unsigned franchise player Dez Bryant is bluffing about holding out and missing games.

Advice: The two sides met Friday, and Cole reports "no progress" was made. Cole went as far as to say the Cowboys believe Bryant is having money problems and wouldn't be able to afford missing paychecks. Dallas isn't budging off the long-term offer it already made to Bryant and will either tell him to sign the deal or play out the season on the one-year, $12.82 million franchise tender.

  • Ladarius Green set for big September chance
Ladarius Green will replace suspended Antonio Gates for the first four games of the season.

Advice: It took a PEDs suspension, but Green has finally been freed. Despite seeing just 53 targets and playing on roughly a third of the offensive snaps over the last two seasons, he's produced 36 catches for 602 yards and three touchdowns. Ladarius' 2.67 yards per route run in 2013 ranked second in the NFL (behind only Rob Gronkowski) and his 1.85 in 2014 ranked seventh. An imposing athlete at 6'6/240 with 4.44 speed, Green is a mismatch at all levels. He'll be worth starting in fantasy leagues for the first four weeks before fading back behind Gates. Stevie Johnson also gets a nice boost.

  • Russell Wilson alludes to baseball career
Russell Wilson said he'd "definitely consider" resuming his baseball career were he traded to the Seattle Mariners.

Advice: Wilson's MLB rights are currently owned by the Texas Rangers. It's the second time in four months that Wilson has refused to close the door on his baseball career, but it's almost certainly just a negotiating ploy as he angles to become the NFL's highest-paid player. Going on 27, Wilson was good enough to play in the minor leagues, but has never been considered a high-end prospect. He's not going to be the next Deion Sanders or Bo Jackson.

  • Teammates speak well of Rishard Matthews
The Miami Herald reports some Dolphins players believe WR Rishard Matthews would "thrive if he had a larger role."

Advice: Matthews tried to force a trade earlier this offseason, but it doesn't appear to have hurt his standing amongst his teammates. Matthews has always offered promise in the slot, but is a redundant talent on a team with Jarvis Landry and Greg Jennings. Coming off a 12-catch season, Matthews will be no higher than No. 5 on the depth chart if DeVante Parker (foot surgery) is ready for Week 1.

  • Jags GM: Bortles had 'dead arm' as rookie
Jaguars GM David Caldwell says Blake Bortles suffered from "dead arm" as a rookie.

Advice: Bortles spent time late in the season on the injury report with a shoulder issue, and Caldwell says it gave way to a "dead arm" phase, a la a pitcher in baseball. It's not something you typically hear about in football, but we suppose it could happen to a rookie. By nearly every account — including Caldwell's — Bortles has improved his mechanics this offseason. A dual-threat who even the Jags admitted needed a "redshirt" year before taking over for an ineffective Chad Henne, Bortles has the ability to take a big step forward in 2015.

  • Stunner: Antonio Gates handed 4-game PED ban
NFL suspended Chargers TE Antonio Gates four games for violating the league's PED policy.

Advice: This one is a shocker. Headed into his 13th NFL campaign, Gates has always been a model NFL citizen, both on- and off-the-field. In a statement, Gates said he never "knowingly" ingested a banned substance. While possibly true, it's the oldest PED excuse in the book. Now 35, Gates has been thus far ageless as Philip Rivers' go-to target, but his absence will free up a massive amount of looks for Keenan Allen and Stevie Johnson, and give Ladarius Green the opportunity he's deserved for some time now. Missing such a huge chunk of the fantasy season right off the bat, it's hard to sell Gates as a TE1.

  • McClain hit with 4-game substance-abuse ban
NFL suspended Cowboys MLB Rolando McClain four games for violating the league's substance-abuse policy.

Advice: McClain was originally believed to be facing a four-game fine, which would have meant three failed tests. A fourth failed test triggers a suspension. McClain simply can't stay out of his own way, though this is his first league-imposed suspension. It would likely be his second had he not "retired" in May 2013. McClain is coming off a renaissance year for the Cowboys, but is recovering from a knee scope in addition to his suspension. The end to his 2014-15 was marred by repeated head issues. McClain turns 26 in July. He's likely one strike away from being out of the NFL.

49ers second-year OLB Aaron Lynch missed most of the offseason program with a hamstring injury.

Saints WR Josh Morgan rivaled Ben Watson for the most total catches during spring practices.

Advice: Take that with a grain of salt, as receivers always shine in the padless, non-contact practices. But Morgan has put himself in the mix behind Marques Colston. After catching just 30 total passes the previous two seasons with the Redskins and Bears, veteran Morgan has a chance to carve out a role in New Orleans thanks to his blocking prowess and short-to-intermediate catching ability.

  • Russell Wilson casually mentions $25M figure
In an interview with ESPN, Russell Wilson mentioned $25 million as an annual salary figure.

Advice: Wilson continues to engage in subtle yet public negotiations with the Seahawks as he heads into the final year of his rookie contract. "No matter how much I’m getting paid, whether it’s $25 million or $1.5 million. I’ll be ready to go," he said. The $1.5 million number is what he's set to make this season and $25 million would be $3 million more than current NFL leader Aaron Rodgers' $22 million annual average. After the interview aired, Wilson's agent Mark Rodgers wrote the following on Twitter: "I wish he had said $40 million. Then this would be really interesting. #patience #relax #no_deadline."

  • Russell Wilson hopes to remain in Seattle
In an interview at his annual passing academy, Russell Wilson said he wants to be with the Seahawks a "really, really long time."

Advice: While that may be true, Wilson also reportedly wants to become the highest-paid player in the league. To this point, the Seahawks have seemed hesitant to match the request, though that could certainly change as a potential future without a top-five quarterback comes into sharper focus. Wilson is scheduled to make $1.542 million in the final year of his rookie deal.

The Cowboys met with unsigned franchise player Dez Bryant's agent last week.

Advice: With the deadline to sign franchise-tagged players less than three weeks away, the Cowboys are reopening talks with Bryant. It doesn't necessarily mean that a deal will get done. Bryant is threatening to miss regular-season games if he doesn't get a long-term contract. The Cowboys have until July 15 to extend him.

  • PFT predicts Wilson won't be a Seahawk in '16
PFT's Mike Florio's "current prediction" is that contract-year QB Russell Wilson won't be with the Seahawks in 2016.

Advice: Bold. It's only a prediction, but Florio is in the know and has plenty of sources. The two sides do seem to be pretty far apart on Wilson's value. The Seahawks are offering Wilson a deal in the Cam Newton range, while Wilson wants to be the league's highest-paid player. Florio thinks the Seahawks will use the non-exclusive franchise tag on Wilson and another team signs him to an offer sheet the Seahawks are unwilling to match. When push comes to shove, it's hard to see the Seahawks truly letting their franchise quarterback walk out the door.

Sources tell Bleacher Report's Jason Cole that contract-year QB Russell Wilson is looking to become the highest-paid player in the NFL.

Advice: It's not a surprise. In the prime of his career, Wilson is coming off back-to-back Super Bowl appearances, as well as by far his best season. It would be more noteworthy if he was starting negotiations below the "highest-paid" threshold. Going by average-annual value, Aaron Rodgers is the league's top-paid player. His five-year, $110 million deal is worth $22 million per season.

Unsigned franchise player Dez Bryant participated in a Sunday Night Football photo shoot for the Week 1 game against the Giants.

Advice: Publicly, Bryant is threatening to sit out this game if he doesn't get a long-term contract. No one is taking his threats seriously. Dez was in Dallas for minicamp, Jerry Jones has said there's "no doubt" his star wideout will be there and now Bryant is doing promotional work for the season opener. His one-year franchise tender is worth $12.82 million.
