  • Roddy White officially inactive versus Bucs
Roddy White (hamstring) is inactive for Week 3 against the Bucs.

Advice: The Falcons had intimated all week that White would suit up, but that changed on Thursday afternoon. White should return for Week 4, but the former iron man has now missed four of the Falcons' past 19 games, and played at less than 100 percent in many more. His absence leaves Julio Jones as a target monster, and Harry Douglas as a legitimate WR3. Devin Hester will run deep routes as the Falcons' No. 3 receiver. Also inactive for the Falcons are QB Sean Renfree, CB Javier Arenas, LB Tyler Starr, C James Stone, OT Ryan Schraeder and DT Cliff Matthews. Rotoworld.com

  • Vikes give up on troubled WR Jerome Simpson
    Vikings released WR Jerome Simpson.

Advice: Simpson's three-game suspension for violating the league's substance-abuse policy was set to end on Monday, but it was revealed Thursday that he was busted on marijuana and alcohol charges in July. Simply stunning immaturity from a 28-year-old receiver who's dealt with various legal issues throughout his NFL career. Simpson is a competent deep threat, but has had trouble staying on the field thanks to his bans. Considering the current climate for NFL troublemakers, he's unlikely to find a new home any time soon. Profootballtalk confirms that Roddy White (hamstring) is "likely" out for Thursday's game against the Bucs.

Advice: CBS' Jason La Canfora first reported White was unlikely to play Thursday afternoon. It's a surprise after White played every snap in Sunday's loss to the Bengals, and the Falcons intimated he'd play Thursday. White has been removed from Rotoworld's Week 3 ranks. The Falcons will roll with Harry Douglas and Devin Hester behind Julio Jones. Douglas is a safe, but low-upside, WR3. Hester remains off the fantasy radar. Rotoworld.com

  • Derek Carrier may see significant snaps
49ers TE Derek Carrier may be poised for significant playing time in Week 3 at Arizona due to injuries to Vernon Davis (ankle) and Vance McDonald (knee).

Advice: Carrier came off the bench in last Sunday night's loss to Chicago, turning four targets into 41 yards on three catches. The former Beloit (WI) college basketball player and track star runs 4.5-flat at 6-foot-3, 238 pounds with a 38-inch vertical. In an ideal matchup against a Cardinals defense that hemorrhages fantasy points to tight ends, Carrier is on the Week 3 streamer radar. Rotoworld.com

  • Jamaal Charles officially limited on Thursday
Jamaal Charles (ankle) was officially limited in Thursday's return to practice.

Advice: It's quite possible the Chiefs are just trying to confuse the situation for the Dolphins, but reporters present for practice noted that Charles was moving well, and even cutting in position drills. What's clear is that Charles does not have a traditional high-ankle sprain, if he has one at all. For now, he should be considered slightly less than 50-50 to play. Even if Charles did suit up against Miami, it's quite possible he'd be on a snap count. His status should be updated multiple times over the next 24 hours. Rotoworld.com

CBS' Jason La Canfora does "not expect" Roddy White to be active for Thursday's game against the Bucs.

Advice: It's a surprise, as both the Falcons and Atlanta media have continually indicated that White will play despite missing practice all week. White didn't miss a snap in Sunday's loss to the Bengals. We'll know whether or not White is active by 7ET, but even if he does suit up, it's possible he could be limited to decoy duties. • Charles surprisingly back at Chiefs practice
Jamaal Charles (ankle) returned to Chiefs practice Thursday.

Advice: Per ESPN's Adam Teicher, Charles participated in warmups, spent a "brief period" being tended to by the team's trainer and then joined position drills. Charles was apparently even "cutting through cones." It would suggest Charles isn't dealing with a high-ankle sprain at all, and that the Chiefs have been misapplying the phrase. There's still more reason to believe Charles will sit than suit up this weekend, but we obviously don't have enough information right now. Charles owners should not count on him being active for Week 3, while Knile Davis owners simply need to sit tight. Rotoworld.com

  • Norv Turner hints at hot-hand approach for RB
Vikings OC Norv Turner said he will use both Matt Asiata and Jerick McKinnon in Sunday's game against the Saints.

Advice: Turner added that he might use one back more than the other if someone gets a hot hand. Asiata will have the first crack to get that hot hand as he'll almost certainly start the game, but we know this low-upside bulldozer with a career 3.56 YPC won't help the Adrian Peterson-less Vikings move the ball consistently. The freaky McKinnon could, but has to prove reliable and pass protect better (one sack allowed on three pass pro chances Week 2). "We still try to move the ball around, but Jordy is a top-notch receiver and we're going to try to get him the ball." After a Jarrett Boykin red-zone drop in Week 2, Adams came on and shined with a 5-50-0 line on seven targets and 37 snaps. As the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel says, Boykin is "steady" but Adams can "stress a defense." The second-round rookie is the one to stash as the potential home run if he can fully pass Boykin. Jordy Nelson caught nine passes for 209 yards with one touchdown in Sunday's 31-24 Week 2 win over the Jets.

Advice: Nelson was unstoppable as he set a career-high in yardage, making the incredibly difficult catches we've grown accustomed to seeing from him. The highlight was a double-move that went for an 80-yard touchdown and left Dee Milliner shook. Nelson now gets three straight games against the NFC North's wretched pass defenses, and there aren't many players in fantasy we'd rather own right now. Nelson has piled up 30 targets from Aaron Rodgers through two weeks. Rotoworld.com

Charles Clay had seven catches for 31 yards in Sunday's Week 2 loss to Buffalo.

Advice: Clay led Miami in receptions and tied for a team-high eight targets. He didn't make his first catch until the third quarter, and was in and out of the game due to his knee injury. Clay will remain on the TE1 borderline for Week 3 against the Chiefs. Rotoworld.com

  • WR Hurns (ankle) leaves stadium on crutches
Allen Hurns left the stadium on crutches after sustaining an ankle injury in Sunday's Week 2 loss at Washington.

Advice: It was a rough day for Hurns. Early on, he roasted DeAngelo Hall but dropped a bomb while 10 yards clear of the defense. And then with 21 seconds left and the Jags down 41-10, he ran a crossing pattern and twisted his ankle awkwardly as he went down. It looks like Allen Robinson and Marqise Lee will be the Jags' top-two receivers if Cecil Shorts (hamstring) can't get back for Week 3. Rotoworld.com

  • Jamaal Charles done for day with ankle injury
Jamaal Charles exited Sunday's Week 2 game against the Broncos in the first quarter with a left ankle injury and will not return.

Advice: Charles hobbled to the training table in the first quarter before making his way to the locker room. He didn't need a cart, but Charles could be dealing with a sprain. Knile Davis has been filling in admirably for Charles, tallying 76 yards and one touchdown on 17 touches with over 9:00 left in the first quarter. Charles should be considered highly questionable for Week 3. Davis would immediately enter into the RB1 conversation as the offensive centerpiece. Rotoworld.com

  • Asiata totals 84 yards and a tochdown Week 2
Matt Asiata rushed 13 times for 36 yards and added 5 catches for 48 yards and a touchdown against the Patriots Week 2.

Advice: Asiata plodded to a 2.8 yard-per-carry average on the ground, and was not very effective in the passing game aside from a 25-yard touchdown grab in the first quarter. He is not a very good runner, and the Vikings will have to find a better option if they hope to have some offensive success this season. Despite his struggles, workload will keep Asiata an RB3 as long as he starts. Rotoworld.com

Roy Helu left Sunday's Week 2 game against the Jaguars in the fourth quarter with a left knee injury.

Advice: The severity of Helu's injury is unknown, but he was ruled out for the day quickly. Before leaving, the Redskins' clear-cut third-down back and Alf Morris handcuff had eight carries for 25 yards to go with two catches for 11 yards. Third-stringer Silas Redd is finishing out the blowout. Rotoworld.com

DeSean Jackson has been diagnosed with a sprained AC joint.

Advice: The injury is also being reported as a sprained shoulder or bruise. It's an injury D-Jax has battled in the past, and sounds similar to the one that caused Jordan Cameron to sit out Sunday. Jackson has been ruled out for the day as the Redskins pummel the Jags and is listed as day to day going forward. Rotoworld.com

  • DeSean Jackson goes to locker room early on
DeSean Jackson left Sunday's game against the Jaguars in the first quarter with a left shoulder injury and will not return.

Advice: Jackson was trying to haul in a deep ball from Kirk Cousins when Jaguars S Josh Evans came across his body. Jackson ended up awkwardly falling with a ton of weight on his left elbow and shoulder. The former Eagle walked to the locker room under his own power, where he joins Robert Griffin (ankle). Andre Roberts has taken Jackson's spot as an every-down player opposite Pierre Garcon. Rotoworld.com

  • Allen Hurns and Lee start again w/ Shorts out
Jaguars declared Cecil Shorts (hamstring) inactive for Sunday's game at Washington

Advice: Shorts made the trip, but never had a realistic shot to play as he deals with yet another soft-tissue injury. We'd consider him very questionable for the Week 3 game against the Colts. It leaves the Jags with Allen Hurns and Marqise Lee as their starting wideouts again, and both are on the WR4 radar against a leaky Redskins secondary. The rest of the Jaguars inactives: SS Johnathan Cyprien, OT Austin Pasztor, RB Storm Johnson, TE Clay Harbor, OG Tyler Shatley and OT Josh Wells. Rotoworld.com

The Broncos' defense expects Jamaal Charles to get "a lot of touches this week."

Advice: "We definitely know they're going to have a heavy gameplan for Jamaal," said Broncos CB Aqib Talib. It is the logical conclusion after coach Andy Reid called it "negligence" that Charles only saw 11 touches Week 1. • Jackson will get more opportunites downfield?
ESPN Redskins reporter John Keim believes DeSean Jackson will get "more opportunities to go downfield" against the Jaguars Week 2.

Advice: According to Pro Football Focus, Jackson was targeted more than 10-yards downfield only once Week 1. Keim attributes the lack of downfield attempts to the large cushion Texans' corners were giving Jackson and Pierre Garcon, and expects the Redskins to be much more aggressive against the Jaguars. Jackson is a high-upside WR2/3 this week. Rotoworld.com

  • Allen Hurns ahead of Marqise Lee?
Coach Gus Bradley said that Allen Hurns will be the Jaguars' No. 2 receiver even when Cecil Shorts (hamstring) returns.

Advice: It's the first we've heard of Hurns being ahead of Marqise Lee on the depth chart. Jaguars reporter Mike DiRocco says it's because Hurns has a better grasp of the offense after playing for OC Jedd Fisch at the University of Miami. If true, it would make the UDFA a far more intriguing hold than previously thought. For now, however, it doesn't really matter as Shorts does not appear close to getting over his latest injury. Hurns is going to start opposite Lee against the bad Redskins secondary on Sunday and has WR4 appeal. Rotoworld.com

Matt Asiata is expected to start Sunday's game against the Patriots.

Advice: ESPN Vikings reporter Ben Goessling says Jerick McKinnon "could get some carries too, but Asiata figures to get the majority of the work." It's not a surprise, as the plodding yet reliable Asiata ran ahead of the third-round rookie for the entire preseason. Asiata also started two games last season (for the old regime), totaling 44 carries for 166 yards and a flukish three touchdowns along with five catches for 13 yards. If you need a plug-n-play for this week, he's your man. If you want to stash a true freak athlete who might eventually get a big chance, McKinnon is the add. Rotoworld.com

One Redskins player told beat writer John Keim that the team expects DeSean Jackson to have a "huge" Week 2 against the Jaguars.

Advice: "Huge day," the player said. "Huge. If it goes the way we think in the run game." The Redskins are going to build off Alfred Morris and the play-action pass game. Working in their favor is that top CB Dwayne Gratz has been banged up at practice this week, and SS Johnathan Cyprien (concussion) is likely to sit out. Advice: That's according to Randall Cobb. Beat writer Rob Demovsky expects "good production" from the Packers' wideouts, especially Jordy Nelson and Cobb. The Jets will likely start Darrin Walls and Antonio Allen at corner once again this week, with Dee Milliner and Kyle Wilson mixing in sub-packages. Joe Flacco completed 21-of-26 passes for 166 yards and two touchdowns in Baltimore's 26-6, Week 2 thrashing of the Steelers.

Advice: He also rushed five times for three yards, and took a huge shot on a failed quarterback sneak at the goal-line. Flacco didn't do anything fancy, instead relentlessly targeting Steve Smith and his tight ends on short-to-intermediate routes. He looked Smith's way a whopping 10 times compared to only three for Torrey Smith. Flacco will remain a low-end QB2 for Baltimore's Week 3 trip to Cleveland. Rotoworld.com
