    • Joique Bell (Achilles) practices fully Thurs.
Updating a previous item, the Lions listed Joique Bell (Achilles') as a full participant in Thursday's practice.

Advice: This should result in a probable tag on Friday. Reports earlier Thursday claiming Bell did not practice jumped the gun. Bell is on track to start against Green Bay and should be in line for his usual workload. Rotoworld.com

Joique Bell (Achilles') is uncertain for Sunday's game against the Packers.

Advice: Bell was held out of Thursday's practice. Asked if he'll be available for Sunday's NFC North title game, coach Jim Caldwell offered a cagey "we'll see." Bell's absence would be big for a Lions team without much of a between-the-tackles presence behind him on the depth chart. Reggie Bush and Theo Riddick would split work, with George Winn being mixed in. Rotoworld.com

    • Report: Logan Thomas already benched
The Arizona Republic reports the Cardinals have decided to bench Logan Thomas, and will go with Ryan Lindley for Sunday's finale against the 49ers.

Advice: Thomas' tenure under center is over before it even began. Per AZCardinals.com's Darren Urban, the decision comes after the fourth-round rookie was "seriously shaky" in practice. It's a bit of a surprise after Lindley was an utter nightmare in last week's loss, but coach Bruce Arians must have been confident Thomas would be even worse. It's still possible Thomas could see action off the bench. The Cardinals will be in major trouble if Drew Stanton (knee) isn't ready for the postseason. Rotoworld.com

    • Report: Cardinals going back to Ryan Lindley
The Arizona Republic reports the Cardinals have decided to go back to Ryan Lindley for Sunday's finale against the 49ers.

Advice: According to AZCardinals.com's Darren Urban, the decision comes after Logan Thomas got off to a "seriously shaky start at practice." It must have been as shaky as you can get, as Lindley appeared completely overwhelmed in Arizona's Week 16 loss to the Seahawks. Things won't be much easier against a 49ers team that will likely be going to bat for coach Jim Harbaugh in what is expected to be his final game at the helm. The news has little effect on the rest of Arizona's skill players, as the offense was going to be a disaster either way. Lindley can be completely ignored in DFS leagues for Week 17. Rotoworld.com

Advice: On Tuesday night, Arians said Thomas will at least play the first half. Now he's not even guaranteeing that. The bottom line is that the very raw Thomas will be on an extremely short leash and his range of production is vast. Even at minimum price on some DFS sites, it's very hard to trust Thomas in this spot. Rotoworld.com

    • Patriots may not play starters whole game?
ESPN Boston's Mike Reiss suggests the Patriots may not play their starters the whole game during Sunday's regular season finale against the Bills.

Advice: The Patriots clinched the AFC's No. 1 seed when the Broncos lost to the Bengals on Monday night. Reiss suspects the Patriots could view this game "similar to a fourth preseason contest when the third preseason game doesn't go as well as planned." That could mean trying to "develop some momentum" on offense and if that happens, pulling guys like Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski for the second half. Of course, Bill Belichick has been known to keep his foot on the gas in tons of low-priority situations, so no one knows for sure what will happen. But there's certainly risk in using any Patriots this week. Rotoworld.com

    • Kelly to evaluate Foles this offseason
Speaking Wednesday, coach Chip Kelly declined to give Nick Foles a full endorsement.

Advice: Kelly said he'll go through a long evaluation process on all his players, including Foles. He's not going to name him his starter even though Foles is 14-4 over his last 18 starts under Kelly. That's because he was shaky this season, turning the ball over 13 times in just over seven games and completing 59.8 percent of his passes. The problem for the Eagles is that they're unlikely to find serious competition for Foles unless they mortgage their future to move up in the draft for Marcus Mariota or Jameis Winston. Foles, heading into the final year of his rookie contract, is the heavy favorite to open 2015 as the Eagles' starting quarterback. Rotoworld.com

Coach Mike Pettine said Johnny Manziel (IR, hamstring) will "have the chance to compete" for the starting job in 2015.

Advice: The Browns clearly aren't going to hand the starting gig to Manziel on a silver platter. How could they after he lost a camp battle to journeyman Brian Hoyer, appeared completely unprepared in his two starts and posted a 42.0 passer rating. Manziel knows he needs to grow up in a hurry if he's going to make an NFL impact. "It's a job for me now. I have to take it a lot more seriously than maybe I did at first," he admitted. Peyton Manning (thigh) is practicing in full this week.

Advice: Manning missed a day of practice last week and was limited in others. So it's safe to say he's far healthier this week as the Broncos prepare for a home game against the Raiders. They need to win the game to lock up the AFC's No. 2 seed and a first-round bye. The Broncos' run-first mentality over the last month caps Manning's upside, but he's still a top-shelf QB1 in this matchup. Peyton also added Wednesday that he plans to be back in 2015, brushing off silly retirement notions. Rotoworld.com

When asked if he wants to be back with the 49ers next season, impending free agent Michael Crabtree said, "It depends."

Advice: Crabtree was a major disappointment this season, recording just 64 catches for 657 yards and four touchdowns. Colin Kaepernick's regression certainly hasn't helped, but there's also concern about Crabtree's ability since coming off a 2013 Achilles' tendon tear. Anquan Boldin has been far more effective in terms of both getting open and YAC. His market is extremely uncertain and the confident Crabtree may have his eye on a more pass-game friendly offense. • Steven Jackson (quad) expected to sit Sunday
Steven Jackson (quad) is not expected to play in Sunday's Week 17 game against the Panthers.

Advice: At age 31, Jackson wasn't going to recover from a pulled quad muscle in seven days. So the Falcons will roll into their showdown for the NFC South with a committee of Devonta Freeman and Jacquizz Rodgers at running back. Practice squad callup Jerome Smith will be the No. 3 back. Note that following S-Jax's injury last week, Rodgers played 25 snaps compared to 18 for Freeman. Quizz will handle more of the third-down work and pass game duties, while the rookie handles more base work. We far prefer Freeman as the plug-n-play -- he's more versatile and a better inside runner. Rotoworld.com

Advice: There was some early-week optimism on Jackson, but darker clouds are forming now. The Falcons called up RB Jerome Smith from the practice squad Wednesday morning, giving them depth behind Devonta Freeman and Jacquizz Rodgers. Given Jackson's age (31) and history of soft tissue injuries, we'll consider him very questionable for Sunday's showdown with the Panthers. Peyton Manning completed 28-of-44 passes for 311 yards, two touchdowns, and four interceptions in the Broncos' 37-28, Week 16 loss to the Bengals on Monday night.

Advice: Manning and the Broncos started really slow, failing to score any offensive points in the first half. His first interception was a poorly thrown ball behind Julius Thomas in the flat at his own 22-yard line, setting up an easy Bengals touchdown. Manning's third pick was returned 30 yards for a touchdown by Dre Kirkpatrick to give the Bengals their nine-point cushion with four minutes to play. It was one of the worst passes you'd ever see, as it was thrown by weak-armed Peyton off his back foot and into the rain. On the following drive, Kirkpatrick picked off Manning again. It was Peyton's fifth career four-pick game. Before the meltdown, Manning had the offense clicking coming out of halftime with 21 points in the third quarter. Advice: It ends a highly disappointing first NFL season for Manziel, who failed to beat out career journeyman backup Brian Hoyer in training camp and fell flat on his face when given late-season opportunities to play. Manziel's arm is average, and he loses all semblance of zip when he doesn't deliver passes with proper technique. He is also not close to being an even passable pocket quarterback. That allowed Devonta Freeman to get some extra touches, turning one of the them into a 31-yard touchdown run and adding a 3-48-0 line as a receiver. The 31-year-old Jackson is averaging 3.72 YPC this season as the Falcons' feature back. If the Falcons beat the Panthers, they'll win the NFC South with a 7-9 record. Rotoworld.com

    • Lindley struggles to move offense in loss
Ryan Lindley completed 18-of-44 passes for 216 yards and an interception in Sunday night's Week 16 loss to Seattle.

Advice: Lindley predictably struggled to move the offense, missing open receivers throughout the game. His interception came on a bad overthrow directly to Richard Sherman. Lindley completed only 41 percent of his passes and averaged an anemic 4.9 yards per attempt. With the loss, Arizona drops to second place in the NFC West. The Cardinals are hoping Drew Stanton can return in Week 17. Rotoworld.com

    • Aaron Rodgers tweaked calf in win over Bucs
Aaron Rodgers strained a calf muscle during Sunday's Week 16 win at Tampa.

Advice: Rodgers suffered the pull during the second series, limiting him a bit throughout the game. He still finished 31-of-40 for 318 yards with a touchdown even though Mike McCarthy admitted he had to change his play-calling a bit to keep Rodgers in the pocket. "It got really tight about halftime," Rodgers said. "Came in and got a little treatment and it loosened up a tad but it was still pretty tight, and I had hard time running." Rodgers will be fine for Week 17's NFC North showdown with the Lions, the question will just be how close he is to 100 percent. Rotoworld.com

    • Julio Jones says he'll be 'OK' for Week 17
Following Sunday's win at New Orleans, Julio Jones (oblique) said he'll be "OK" for Week 17.

Advice: Jones wasn't 100 percent Sunday, but was healthy enough to put seven catches and a team-high 107 yards on the Saints. "I felt OK," he said. "I know I needed to be out there with my teammates. ... I felt pretty good: Not 100 percent, but it was good enough to go out there and get the W." We wouldn't expect Jones to practice much, if at all this week. But considering the Falcons are playing the Panthers for the NFC South next week, he'll almost certainly be starting again. Johnny Manziel (hamstring) is considered questionable for the Week 17 finale against Baltimore.

Advice: Manziel first hurt his hamstring midway through the first half and then left for good after taking a hit from Colin Jones. "As I kept walking more and more, it just felt like something I hadn't experienced before," he said. "I figured I needed to get checked out. Pretty frustrating." Tom Brady completed 23-of-35 passes for 182 yards, one touchdown and an interception in the Patriots' 17-16, Week 16 win over the Jets.

Advice: Missing security blanket Julian Edelman, Brady was under siege from the opening whistle. Looking to get coach Rex Ryan one more upset of arch-nemesis Bill Belichick, the Jets treated the game like the Super Bowl, getting in Brady's face to the tune of four sacks, and countless other pressures. Brady's pick was an ill-advised pass in the face of the rush. New England was lucky to escape with a victory. The Pats have now clinched at least a first-round bye, and will earn home-field advantage throughout the playoffs with a Broncos loss to the Bengals on Monday Night Football. Rotoworld.com

Advice: Rodgers mostly had to settle for check downs, targeting Randall Cobb 14 times. His touchdown didn't come until late in the fourth quarter on a one-yard pass to Jordy Nelson. Rodgers suffered an ankle injury on a sack, but didn't miss any time. It was another disappointing start after he was held without a touchdown last week. Advice: Jones did not play every snap, but he played the vast majority despite not practicing at all leading up to the game. Jones did not appear to be 100 percent healthy, but he still made several big plays including a huge 24-yard grab that set up the Falcons for a touchdown with little time left in the second quarter. Joique Bell rushed 13 times for 74 yards with one touchdown and caught two passes for 13 yards in Sunday's 20-14 Week 16 win at Chicago.

Advice: Bell was benched for the entire first quarter due to some kind of team rules violation. But it was business as usual after he got his first snap with 12:36 left in the second quarter. Bell was the feature back, hogging clock-killing and red-zone work even though Reggie Bush was looking extremely spry. The highlight was a madden-style 17-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter that gave the Lions a lead they would hold. Earlier, Matthew Stafford barely missed Bell on a wheel route that would have gone for a touchdown. The Lions close the regular season at Green Bay next week, a game that will decide the NFC North. Manziel ultimately went to the locker room with a towel on his head and surrounded by trainers. Officially, the Browns are saying Manziel suffered a hamstring injury. Advice: He missed two months of action. Rudolph has played the past five games and set season-bests in catches (7) and yards (69) last week against the Lions. Neither he nor the coaching staff expect him to be back to full health until training camp next summer. Rudolph's four-year career has been derailed by injuries. Rotoworld.com

    • Report: Foles still not close to 100 percent
FOX Philadelphia's Howard Eskin reports Nick Foles' collarbone is just 70 percent healed.

Advice: Eskin's report has been seconded by FOX Sports' Mike Garofolo. It means there's no way Foles will return before the end of the regular season, and that he'll likely be questionable for a potential Wild Card appearance. The Eagles' hopes of a division championship are pinned to the scattershot arm and decision-making of Mark Sanchez. Rotoworld.com

    • Browns support Johnny Manziel
Coach Mike Pettine threw more support behind Johnny Manziel at his Monday press conference.

Advice: "We didn't play well around him," Pettine said following Cleveland's Week 15 shutout loss. "We feel he gives us an opportunity to win." Pettine went so far as to say the Browns would not have beaten the Bengals on Sunday were Brian Sipe their quarterback. Manziel will be a low-end QB2 in Week 16 at Carolina. Rotoworld.com

    • Ryan Lindley named Cardinals' Week 16 starter
Ryan Lindley will be the Cardinals' Week 16 starter at quarterback.

Advice: Lindley's four games of starting experience earn him the nod over fourth-round rookie Logan Thomas. However, coach Bruce Arians continues to insist he'll install a "package" of plays for Thomas against the Seahawks. It makes essentially no difference who gets the call against Seattle. Arians' job will be to put as little as possible on Lindley's plate. Depending on how the game unfolds, Lindley could easily be benched for Thomas. Things are highly likely to get ugly for the 11-3 Cardinals. Rotoworld.com

    • Nick Foles not cleared, ruled out for Week 16
Coach Chip Kelly announced Nick Foles (collarbone) has already been ruled out for Week 16 against the Redskins.

Advice: A Week 16 return was always viewed as a best-case scenario for Foles. Mark Sanchez will get at least one more start and will look to take advantage of a suspect Redskins pass defense that has been torched by anyone and everyone in 2014. Matt Barkley isn't an option. Consider Foles week to week at this point. Rotoworld.com

    • Pettine confirms Manziel will start Week 16
Coach Mike Pettine said Johnny Manziel will start Week 16 against the Panthers.

Advice: It also sounded like Manziel will be the starting quarterback through Week 17. That comes as no surprise. It will give the coaching staff three games of tape on Manziel and allow him to get his feet wet before 2015. Johnny Football finished with about as horrific a stat line one could imagine in his debut, but Pettine placed much of the blame on the players around Manziel. He'll be a high-risk QB2 against Carolina, but one with plenty of upside. The 7-7 Browns are out of the playoff picture. Rotoworld.com

    • Broncos not concerned about Peyton's thigh
Profootballtalk reports the Broncos are not concerned about Peyton Manning's (thigh) availability for Week 16 against the Bengals.

Advice: Manning was battling flu-like systems coming into Sunday's game against the Chargers and strained his thigh late in the second quarter. The team is chalking it up to dehydration and his illness, which makes plenty of sense since Manning needed an IV ahead of the game. Manning has an extra day to get ready with the Broncos and Bengals playing the final Monday night game of 2014. Rotoworld.com
