  • Seahawks waive Jimmy Staten and QB Daniels
Seahawks waived DT Jimmy Staten and QB B.J. Daniels.

Advice: A fifth-round pick, Staten couldn't crack the Seahawks' loaded defensive line. He'll be stashed on the practice squad if he clears waivers. With the release of Daniels, Seattle is going with only Tarvaris Jackson behind Russell Wilson. Rotoworld.com

  • Clyde Gates amongst Jets' cuts
Jets waived/released WR Clyde Gates, OG William Campbell, LB Troy Davis, CB Brandon Dixon, LB A.J. Edds, DT Tevita Finau, DL Kerry Hyder, LB Garrett McIntyre, S Rontez Miles, TE Chris Pantale, OT Brent Qvale, CB Jeremy Reeves, OG Caleb Schlauderaff and DE Zach Thompson.

Advice: A former Dolphins fourth-rounder, Gates, 28, appeared in six games for the Jets last season, catching 12 passes. Gates annually shines in pad-less practices, but is just about out of regular-season chances. Rotoworld.com

  • Ryan Williams left off Cowboys' final roster
    Cowboys waived RB Ryan Williams.

Advice: Williams ran well this preseason, but could not overtake second-year RB Joseph Randle for the No. 3 job in Dallas. Williams still has practice squad eligibility, but it is unlikely he makes it through the waiver process. Williams rushed for 112 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries this preseason. Rotoworld.com

  • Bengals release veteran S Danieal Manning
Bengals released S Danieal Manning and OT Will Svitek.

Advice: Coming back from a broken leg, Manning was healthy this summer, but apparently ineffective. He turned 32 earlier this month. Manning is unlikely to start getting calls before teams have in-season depth issues. Rotoworld.com

Titans waived/released LB Moise Fokou, T Jeff Adams, CB Ri'Shard Anderson, DL Chigbo Anunoby, TE Chase Coffman, LB Brandon Copeland, QB Dominique Davis, DE Marcus Dixon, WR Marc Mariani, G Justin McCray, FB Collin Mooney, OL Eric Olsen, T Will Poehls, WR Rico Richardson, WR Brian Robiskie, TE Jason Schepler and CB Winston Wright.

Advice: Fokou started 12 games for the Titans a year ago, but was one of the worst inside linebackers in the NFL. It's a trouble area for the Titans. Fokou lost a backup spot to Patrick Bailey. Rotoworld.com

  • Eagles waive/injure RB Kenjon Barner
    Eagles waived/injured RB Kenjon Barner.

Advice: Barner was acquired from the Panthers last week but got hurt in the preseason finale. The Panthers won't get anything in exchange for Barner. He'll spend the year on Philadelphia's I.R. list or be cut with an injury settlement later. Rotoworld.com

  • Eagles cut K Alex Henery
    Eagles waived K Alex Henery.

Advice: Henery has a weak leg and was just 1-of-3 on field goals this preseason, while producing just eight touchbacks on 17 kickoffs. He lost out to UDFA Cody Parkey, who has a booming leg and was acquired from the Colts this week. Rotoworld.com

  • Titans release K Maikon Bonani
    Titans released K Maikon Bonani.

Advice: Bonani was competing with undrafted rookie Travis Coons for the starting kicking job in Tennessee. Coons appears to have won the job, but it is possible the Titans will bring in a veteran option after final cuts. Even if he remains the Titans' kicker, Coons is not a recommended option for fantasy. Packers waived S Chris Banjo.

Patriots released DE Jake Bequette, C Braxton Cave, TE Steve Maneri and LB Steve Beauharnais.

  • Bucs part ways with RB/KR Jeff Demps
    Bucs waived RB/KR Jeff Demps.

Advice: Demps (5-foot-8, 191) is too small to play running back and didn't make enough of an impact in the return game this preseason to keep a roster spot. The Olympic sprinter is the fastest man in the NFL, but he only plays special teams. Rotoworld.com

  • Silas Redd makes the Redskins roster
Undrafted rookie RB Silas Redd has made the Redskins' 53-man roster.

Advice: Redd finished preseason with 157 yards on 34 carries (4.6 YPC) and a touchdown, adding three receptions. The Skins are keeping him over more dynamic prospects Lache Seastrunk and Chris Thompson. The team fancies Redd as a more "complete" back, despite his 4.70 forty time and marginal acceleration. • Browns dump Chris Ogbonnaya and Dion Lewis
    Browns released RB Chris Ogbonnaya.

Advice: The Browns didn't want to expose five-star talent Isaiah Crowell to waivers, so they make a surprising cut of a versatile player who can lead block, catch and run in a pinch. Now they only have raw rookies Terrance West and Crowell behind starter Ben Tate. It's good news for the projected catch total of Tate and West, as Ogbonnaya was thought to be headed for a third-down role. Dion Lewis was also cut Saturday. Rotoworld.com

Redskins waived or released RB Lache Seastrunk, RB Chris Thompson and RB Evan Royster.

Advice: All three lost out to UDFA Silas Redd for the No. 3 running back job behind Alfred Morris and Roy Helu. Seastrunk has practice squad eligibility, and will likely be stashed there if he clears waivers. Thompson has an intriguing enough skill set that he might get a look if healthy. Rotoworld.com

  • Alex Henery on thin ice in Philly
Eagles K Alex Henery is 1-of-3 on field goals this preseason.

Advice: Henery is on thin ice in Philly, as evidenced by last week's trade for Cody Parkey. The incumbent remains the favorite, but we'd look for a kicker carrying more confidence into Week 1 for our fantasy roster. Rotoworld.com

  • Ryan Williams strong in 3rd preseason game
Cowboys RB Ryan Williams rushed for 47 yards on 12 carries against the Dolphins Saturday.

Advice: Williams was impressive again, showing good burst and finishing strong all night. He now has 112 yards on 25 carries (4.48 YPC) this preseason. Depending on the severity of Joseph Randle's oblique injury, Williams could open the season at the Cowboys' No. 3 running back. Rotoworld.com

  • Lache Seastrunk outplayed by Silas Redd
ESPN 980 Washington's Chris Russell believes sixth-round pick Lache Seastrunk has been outplayed by UDFA Silas Redd in training camp.

Advice: Seastrunk has made some explosive plays against deep reserves in preseason games, but has poor hands and is still unable to pass block. Seastrunk is more talented than Redd, but Redd is a more complete back. Perhaps the Redskins will try to stash Seastrunk on their practice squad. He isn't ready to play. Rotoworld.com

  • Cowboys unlikely to keep Ryan Williams?
ESPN Cowboys reporter Todd Archer does not believe RB Ryan Williams will make the final roster.

Advice: Williams has been impressive this preseason (65 yards on 13 carries with seven receptions), but he has been outplayed by second-year back Joseph Randle. Unless the Cowboys decide to keep four running backs, Williams will likely be cut. Finally healthy, Williams will have no shortage of suitors if he hits the open market. He's still only 24 years old. • Kenjon Barner goes 7-32 in Eagles debut
Eagles RB Kenjon Barner rushed seven times for 32 yards in Philly's third preseason game Thursday night against Pittsburgh.

Advice: He added a 22-yard kickoff return. Acquired via trade just yesterday, Barner showed some knowledge of Chip Kelly's offense after playing for him at Oregon. The 25-year-old running back appears to be competing with Matthew Tucker and Henry Josey for one roster spot. As the Eagles continue to evaluate him, expect Barner to get a bunch of playing time in the preseason finale. Rotoworld.com

  • Kenjon Barner was getting abused in pass pro
Kenjon Barner was reportedly "overmatched by nearly every linebacker and defensive back he lined up against" during Panthers camp.

Advice: Barner added 15 pounds during the offseason, but still couldn't become adequate as a pass blocker. If he sticks with the Eagles, it will be largely due to his ability to contribute in the return game. Barner fell behind Fozzy Whittaker in Carolina and was going to get cut. Note that the Eagles won't even have to give up that seventh-round pick to the Panthers unless Barner is on the 46-man active roster for at least four games this season. Rotoworld.com
