  • Gronkowski won't change playing style
Rob Gronkowski told reporters Friday he will not change his playing style due to past injuries.

Advice: Gronk has missed 14 games over the past two seasons, but Gronk wouldn't be Gronk if he didn't go all out. "I'm gonna keep smashing and dashing in everything I do," he assured, followed by a smiling giggle. "Haha." Amid numerous injuries, Gronkowski has scored 33 touchdowns over his last 34 games. • Tyler Eifert 'fully healed' for training camp
Tyler Eifert (shoulder) is "fully healed."

Advice: That was the expectation all along. For now, Eifert will have first-team reps all to himself as Jermaine Gresham nurses a back injury on the PUP list. Eifert has the talent to take a sophomore leap, but the presence of Gresham and OC Hue Jackson's run-heavy system are conspiring to put a lid on his fantasy upside. He can't be trusted as a TE1. Gresham will be a free agent in 2015. Rotoworld.com

  • Gronk sporting all sorts of protective gear
Rob Gronkowski (ACL/MCL) is sporting both a brace on his surgically-repaired knee, and a protective sleeve over his surgically-repaired arm.

Advice: Despite avoiding the PUP list, Gronk has been limited to individual drills thus far in camp, and is expected to be brought along slowly. However, ESPN Boston's Mike Reiss observed Thursday that Gronk does not seem "reluctant running, cutting and planting." The injury concern with Gronk is self-evident at this point, but the monster upside remains. Rotoworld.com

  • Chiefs TE Sean McGrath considering retirement
Chiefs TE Sean McGrath is considering retirement.

Advice: McGrath was absent from Chiefs practice Thursday after reporting to training camp on Wednesday. A third-year undrafted free agent, McGrath led the Chiefs' injury-ravaged tight end corps with 26 receptions last season. He's still only 26, but buried on the depth chart behind Anthony Fasano and Travis Kelce. Despite his roster odds, the only real reason for McGrath to retire would be that his heart isn't in it any more. Rotoworld.com

  • Vikes TE Ford recovering from foot surgery
Vikings TE Chase Ford is recovering from left-foot surgery, and will miss all of training camp.

Advice: Ford had a stress fracture. It's bad news for a bubble player, though Ford will likely spend the first six weeks of the season on the reserve/PUP list, delaying his roster decision. A 2012 undrafted free agent, Ford has 11 career catches, five of which came last Week 17. Rotoworld.com

  • Adrien Robinson listed as G-Men's No. 5 TE
Adrien Robinson is listed as the No. 5 tight end on the Giants' initial training camp depth chart.

Advice: Yikes. Blocker and special teamer Larry Donnell is listed at No. 1. That should tell you this isn't a serious exercise, but it's painfully obvious Robinson failed to impress this offseason. At this point, it wouldn't be the most shocking thing if he were left off the 53-man roster. The G-Men are going to go with a committee at tight end. Robinson is highly unlikely to come into any fantasy value. Rotoworld.com

  • Rob Gronkowski not doing team work yet
Rob Gronkowski (ACL/MCL) is not participating in 7-on-7 or 11-on-11 work Thursday.

Advice: It's a reminder that even though Gronkowski has avoided the PUP list and been medically cleared, he's not 100 percent. Less than seven months removed from reconstructive surgery, the Patriots are going to ease him in gradually in the hope that he'll be ready to play all the snaps come Week 1. The good news for Gronk is that we still have more than six weeks until the opener. Rotoworld.com

  • Antonio Gates rejoins Chargers for camp
Antonio Gates (personal) rejoined the Chargers Wednesday.

Advice: Gates missed spring workouts due to an undisclosed family circumstance. He's now back with the team and set to run with emerging stud Ladarius Green in two-tight end formations. Over the final eight games of last season (including playoffs), Gates managed just 3.0 catches for 27.8 yards per day with one touchdown. Rotoworld.com

  • Troy Niklas medically cleared for camp
Cardinals rookie TE Troy Niklas (hand surgery) was medically cleared for the start of training camp.

Advice: He recovered on schedule. Niklas' draft position (No. 52 overall) initially seemed to suggest he'd start right away in Arizona, but he broke the hand at OTAs and is now behind Jake Ballard and John Carlson. Even if Niklas climbs the depth chart in camp, he is unlikely to be a re-draft league factor under Bruce Arians. Rotoworld.com

Bengals placed TE Jermaine Gresham (back) on the active/PUP list.

Advice: Gresham underwent hernia surgery in the spring and missed OTAs and minicamp. He's not quite ready, but should be considered day-to-day or week-to-week. Gresham is way off the fantasy radar with Tyler Eifert in the fold. Rotoworld.com

  • Bears work out FAs TE Beckum, G Austin
Free agent TE Travis Beckum worked out for the Bears on Wednesday.

Advice: Chicago also had G Thomas Austin in for the tryout. Beckum, the 100th overall pick in the 2009 draft, spent three months on the Seahawks' roster this winter, but was cut before OTAs. He hasn't been the same since tearing his ACL when the Giants won their last Super Bowl. Beckum is nearing the end of the road. Rotoworld.com

  • FA TE Fred Davis wanted for domestic violence
Washington D.C. Police have asked for the public's help in locating suspended free agent TE Fred Davis, who is wanted for domestic violence.

Advice: Details are scarce, but police say the simple assault happened on June 2 around 3 AM in the D.C. area. It's Davis' second run-in with the law since the season ended; he was booked for DUI in February. Davis, 28, is currently serving an indefinite NFL suspension for violating the league's substance-abuse policy. His life has gone off the tracks since a breakout 2011 season. Rotoworld.com

  • Daniel Fells working as Giants' starting TE
Daniel Fells has been operating as the Giants' starting tight end through the first two days of training camp.

Advice: Fells is the most experienced tight end in camp, as he's made 30 starts in 71 career appearances. However, he was out of the league last season and will turn 31 in September. The Giants may just be giving him the nod early on due to his experience, but it's something worth monitoring. Adrien Robinson has been tabbed the favorite to start at tight end all offseason. He ballooned up close to 290 pounds and reported to camp at 276. Whoever ends up manning tight end -- our money is still on Robinson -- won't be a recommended fantasy option. Rotoworld.com

  • Vernon Davis reports to Niners camp on time
Vernon Davis has reported to 49ers training camp.

Advice: Davis skipped the entire offseason program due to dissatisfaction with his $4.7 million salary, therefore forfeiting nearly $270,000 in bonuses. But with the chips down and the 49ers showing no signs of budging, he gives in and will avoid the $30,000 per day fines that come with missing camp. Now lacking leverage, Davis appears unlikely to get the raise he desires before Week 1 -- especially in light of the team-friendly deal Jimmy Graham was recently forced to accept. Rotoworld.com

  • Falcons to fill TE job by a commitee
The Falcons plan to fill Tony Gonzalez's production by committee.

Advice: New starter Levine Toilolo is an in-line player not capable of doing Gonzoesque things. The Falcons will use three-wide sets as a base in an effort to highlight their strong wideout trio of Julio Jones, Roddy White and Harry Douglas. They'll also throw to passing backs Devonta Freeman and Jacquizz Rodgers more. Toilolo profiles as a red-zone specialist and low-volume player in terms of targets. Rotoworld.com

  • Rob Gronkowski cleared to play, avoids PUP
Rob Gronkowski (ACL/MCL) has been cleared by doctors and is not being placed on active/PUP.

Advice: Considering Gronkowski is just 7 1/2 months removed from blowing out his knee, this qualifies as an impressive rehab. Avoiding the active/PUP list means Gronk will not be eligible for the reserve/PUP list to start the season, which would have cost him the first six regular season games. He'll likely be coddled a bit at camp, but this news puts him squarely on track for Week 1 and his fantasy ADP should skyrocket accordingly. Gronk's 16-game pace last season was 89-1,353-9, and he's scored 42 touchdowns in 50 career NFL games. Rotoworld.com

  • Exec: Andrew Quarless is a 'No. 2'
An NFC North personnel man said he sees Andrew Quarless as a "No. 2."

Advice: As in, a backup. Quarless rested during the offseason program, allowing rookie Richard Rodgers to shine. Now Quarless has a battle on his hands, and he doesn't have the skill set to blow anyone away in a competition. "He's not a good in-line blocker," the personnel man said. "He's better in space. His overall effort can be up and down. I don't think he's the most physically tough guy or the strongest guy at the point of attack." Quarless isn't on the re-draft radar. Rotoworld.com

  • 'Surprise' if Vernon Davis doesn't report?
ESPN 49ers reporter Bill Williamson believes it would be a "big surprise" if Vernon Davis continued his holdout through training camp.

Advice: Williamson cites Davis' inconsistency throughout his contract quest, and admission that it wouldn't be the end of the world if a new deal couldn't be hammered out. CSN Bay Area's Matt Maiocco hinted last week that Davis will continue to hold out, so we may not get a definitive answer before practice starts. Rotoworld.com

  • Giants TE Robinson ballooned close to 290 lbs
Giants TE Adrien Robinson has shed 10-12 pounds and checked in at 276 heading into training camp.

Advice: That means Robinson ballooned up close to 290 pounds after an injury-riddled 2013 season. Robinson will get the first crack at the tight end job for the G-Men, but this is position that is likely to be filled by a committee. Robinson will work with the first team, while Kellen Davis and Daniel Fells mix in behind him. Rotoworld.com

  • Gronk: 'I plan on playing the whole season'
Rob Gronkowski (ACL/MCL) said Friday night that he anticipates playing a full season in 2014.

Advice: "I'm planning on playing the whole season this year," said Gronk at his women's football clinic. Gronkowski played all 16 games his first two NFL seasons, but has missed 14 over the past two years. Gronk is expected to open camp on the active/PUP list as he's eased into football activities. If Gronk indeed makes it 16 games, he'll push Jimmy Graham to be fantasy's No. 1 tight end. Rotoworld.com

    Patriots signed TE Nate Byham.

Advice: Byham, 26, spent the previous two seasons playing for the Bucs and coach Greg Schiano. He caught six passes for 56 yards and one touchdown in 15 games played for Tampa Bay. Primarily a blocker, Byham will compete for a spot. Rotoworld.com
