  • Alex Smith doesn't do enough in defeat
Alex Smith completed 20-of-36 passes for 233 yards and two touchdowns in Kansas City's 24-20, Week 12 loss to the Raiders.

Advice: He added two rushes for five yards, also committing a fumble the Chiefs recovered. It was too little, too late for Smith, who was utterly dismal for the game's first 30-40 minutes before finally mustering up the courage to take some shots downfield after the Chiefs fell behind 17-3. He found Dwayne Bowe and Travis Kelce for chunk gains, but the Chiefs couldn't hold a fragile 20-17, fourth-quarter lead. Anthony Fasano and Jamaal Charles did the work on Smith's scores. In Smith's defense, he was hurt by horrific play from his pass catchers on Kansas City's final drive, most notably from Frankie Hammond. The Chiefs desperately need to address their receiver corps this offseason. Smith will be on the QB2 map in what will likely be a high-scoring game against the Broncos in Week 13. Rotoworld.com

  • Win one, baby: Raiders down K.C. for first W
Derek Carr completed 18-of-35 passes for 174 yards and a touchdown in the Raiders' 24-20, Week 12 win over the Chiefs.

Advice: In a scene that evoked the 0-13 2007 Dolphins' Week 15 win over the Ravens, the Raiders threw everything they had at the Chiefs, and escaped with the narrowest of victories. Carr added two critical quarterback sneaks for first downs on the Raiders' game-winning drive. He found James Jones in the back of the end zone for his lone score with 1:42 remaining. Carr could hardly be described as "good" this evening — he averaged 4.97 yards per pass attempt — but avoided big mistakes, and generally kept the Raiders out of 3rd-and-longs. Carr's play has stagnated in recent weeks. He's going to be in for a very long afternoon against the Rams' defense in St. Louis in Week 13. Rotoworld.com

The Bills and Jets' Week 12 game will be played at 7ET Monday evening in Detroit.

Advice: It's the second time in five years Detroit has hosted wayward snow travelers, as the Vikings and Giants squared off in Motown on Dec. 13, 2010. It's the most-fair solution, as playing in MetLife Stadium would have been an unfair advantage for the Jets in a game the Bills have to win to keep their slim playoff hopes alive. Aside from the change of venue, the change of schedule has no fantasy ramifications. All points will count for Week 12 as normal. Rotoworld.com

  • RG3's work ethic a growing concern

Advice: "I’ve talked to his previous coaches, people I really trust and admire, that know quarterbacks," Young said. "He doesn’t put the time in." Current Redskins coach Jay Gruden all but confirmed Young's comments by recently stating Griffin has "fundamental flaws" and his footwork is "not even close" to where it needs to be. Giants owner John Mara recently gave Eli Manning a vote of confidence.

Advice: It's worth noting that Mara's comments came before Manning threw five picks in Sunday's loss to the 49ers. "We still think he's in his prime and still has a lot of good years left," Mara said optimistically. "It lifts the whole franchise when you have a quarterback who can play at that level." Fans and writers can often be far too quick to write off players, but Manning's TD:INT ratio is now 36:38 since the start of last season. He's posted a 6.9 YPA and 75.8 QB rating during the same timespan. Manning turns 34 in January, and 2015 is the final year of his contract. • Big Ben throws just one TD in MNF victory
Ben Roethlisberger completed 21-of-32 passes for 207 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in the Steelers' Week 11 win over the Titans on Monday night.

Advice: Titans DC Ray Horton made it a point to get after Roethlisberger, who absorbed five sacks and was hit a dozen times. But Horton paid for it by leaving huge running lanes for Le'Veon Bell. Big Ben tossed a horrible interception just before halftime in the end zone to Jason McCourty. He threw it late and off his back foot, or he would have had an easy touchdown to Antonio Brown. But Ben later found Brown in the fourth quarter for a 12-yard score that wound up being the game-winning touchdown. The Steelers later squatted on the ball for the final seven-plus minutes to drain the clock. Zach Mettenberger completed 15-of-24 passes for 263 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception in the Titans' 27-24, Week 11 loss to the Steelers on Monday night.

Advice: Mettenberger has a long delivery with cement blocks for feet. He needs plenty of time to load up and release the ball, but the Titans’ offensive line gave him enough time against a defense that was minus Troy Polamalu, Ryan Shazier, Ike Taylor, and Steve McLendon. Despite throwing a pick-six to William Gay on his first pass, Mettenberger picked on Gay all night, hooking up with Nate Washington for an 80-yard touchdown and Justin Hunter for a 36-yard gain behind Gay. He dialed up short passes to Kendall Wright for chunk gains, utilizing Wright’s post-catch ability. It was easily Mettenberger’s best start of the season, but he has a long way to go in his development and won’t have the luxury of facing the Steelers every week. He’s not even a recommended option in two-QB leagues. The Eagles are up next for the Titans. Rotoworld.com

Speaking Monday, Chargers coach Mike McCoy denied that Philip Rivers was playing through a rib injury.

Advice: Antonio Gates accidentally let the cat out of the bag that the Bolts haven't been properly listing Rivers on the injury report, but McCoy is doing his best effort at damage control. McCoy said Rivers hasn't missed a "snap" in practice, and hasn't been receiving treatment. We're sure Gates was telling the truth, but it's largely irrelevant. Advice: "Right now I plan on sticking with Kyle, and I believe in every player, not just the quarterback player, who gives us the best chance to win," a long-winded Marrone said. "That’s the way we’re headed this week." The "right now" sticks out for Marrone, who has been perhaps the least-truthful coach in the NFL throughout his 11-15 tenure in Buffalo. The Colts didn't even attempt to establish a running game, and he finished as the leading rusher with three carries for 14 yards. Luck's touchdowns came on a 10-yard fade route to Hakeem Nicks and a goal-line pass to LT Anthony Castonzo. His interception was a deflected pass that he forced to Reggie Wayne. Advice: Brady struggled early, with two interceptions to Colts FS Mike Adams. The gameplan didn't call for him to do much this week, but he managed to salvage his night with a pair of second-half touchdowns. Brady's first score was a play-action pass to Tim Wright at the goal-line, and he later hit Rob Gronkowski from 26 yards out. It was the first time he was held under three touchdowns since Week 5. Advice: Rivers has not missed any time, has not been on the injury report and the Chargers were coming off a bye. We don't doubt that he's been fighting a rib issue, but this looks like a case of a teammate coming to the aid of his quarterback. He never left, but played hobbled for much of the second half. Mark Sanchez completed 26-of-44 passes for 346 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions in Sunday's Week 11 loss at Green Bay.

Advice: Sanchez was far, far worse than these numbers looked. Going into a very difficult spot in a frigid Lambeau Field, he got pick-sixed, botched an exchange with LeSean McCoy, lost a high snap and overthrew open receivers. The Eagles were down 30-6 at halftime and 39-6 midway through the third quarter. Then Sanchez got into garbage-time mode, finding his favorite target Jordan Matthews repeatedly and piling up nearly all of his numbers. Despite the shaky performance, we'd bet strongly on Sanchez bouncing back in a big way at home against the Titans in Week 12. It's an ideal spot. Rotoworld.com

Advice: Stafford also committed a fumble, but the Lions recovered. Stafford has historically struggled in the desert, and today wasn't any different. He had little time to throw, which was a bad combination with Arizona's sticky coverage of Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate. Stafford's pick was an ill-advised deep ball to Megatron. Stafford was expected to take off with the return of his No. 1 receiver, but has instead been shaky through two tough matchups. Advice: He also lost six yards on three scrambles. Hoyer's accuracy has been an issue all season, and continued to be against the Texans, missing seemingly countless throws at the short and intermediate range. You read that right -- Hoyer had a whopping 50 pass attempts -- and the Browns won't want to play that way moving forward. Ryan Mallett completed 20-of-30 passes for 211 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception in the Texans' Week 11 win over the Browns.

Advice: He didn't take a single sack. The Texans "protected" Mallett with a season-high 54 rushing attempts, and he should have been picked off by Browns OLB Paul Kruger in the second quarter, but Kruger flat-out dropped it. Several of Mallett's throws were off target early, but otherwise he showed complete command of Bill O'Brien's offense and restored an intermediate and deep-ball element to a Texans passing attack that lacked it with Ryan Fitzpatrick at the controls. We're hesitant to deem Mallett anything more than a lower-end two-quarterback-league option entering Week 12 against the Bengals. He does deserve credit for a solid NFL starting debut. Rotoworld.com

Advice: He added 21 yards on five scrambles. Cutler made an insane throw on the run and under heavy pressure to Alshon Jeffery for his 27-yard TD, and hit Brandon Marshall on a 44-yard scoring bomb late in the second quarter. Cutler's third touchdown was good to Marshall, again, from four yards out in the final frame. Advice: Griffin threw interceptions on the first two drives, including a pick-six to Bucs CB Jonathan Banks. The interceptions both came on deflections, but Griffin missed open throws to DeSean Jackson downfield and wasn't accurate in the short pass game. His touchdown came on a 30-yard screen pass to Roy Helu at the end of the first half. Griffin added six carries for 41 yards and continued to look good as a runner. It's a disappointing performance in a matchup with a Bucs secondary playing without starting CB Alterraun Verner. Griffin will be just a QB2 option in Week 12 against the 49ers. Rotoworld.com

  • Shaun Hill throws deep TD in upset win
Shaun Hill completed 20-of-29 passes for 220 yards, one touchdown, and zero interceptions in the Rams' 22-7, Week 11 victory over the Broncos.

Advice: Making his first start since Week 1, Hill came in and didn't turn the ball over. That's all the Rams wanted from him after Austin Davis proved to be a interception and fumble machine in his eight starts. Hill also displayed a strong arm, though he was a bit inaccurate out of the gate. His score went to Kenny Britt, who roasted Bradley Roby, from 63 yards out. Hill could have had a second 73-yard TD to Britt, but Hill threw the ball a bit behind Britt. Hill will be a back-end QB2 next week in San Diego. Rotoworld.com

  • Brees dinks and dunks way to Superdome loss
Drew Brees completed 33-of-41 passes for 255 yards and a touchdown in New Orleans' 27-10, Week 11 loss to the Bengals.

Advice: It was death by dinking and dunking for Brees, who rarely put any air under his throws against a Bengals defense that took away the back end of the field. Brees set the tone early, missing a few easy passes that might have gotten the Saints off to a better start. In a bizarre season for Brees and the Saints, today was easily their least-inspiring performance. Brees is now the owner of a 6.21 YPA over his past two starts. He'll try to get back to his elite home ways in next Monday's hosting of the Ravens. Rotoworld.com

  • Eli Manning picked off 5 times in ugly loss
Eli Manning completed 22-of-45 passes for 280 yards with one touchdown and five interceptions in Sunday's 16-10 Week 11 loss to the 49ers.

Advice: Bad Eli face was out in full effect, even against a depleted 49ers secondary. He once again had repeated miscommunications with Rueben Randle, looking like he was throwing the game on a couple of the picks. So after a five-game streak that saw Manning throw just one pick, we're back to square one heading into a Week 12 home game against the Cowboys. Eli's TD-to-INT rate does stand at 18:11 one year after a ridiculous 18:27 campaign. Rotoworld.com

  • Alex Smith throws for only 108 yards Week 11
Alex Smith completed 11-of-16 passes for 108 yards in the Chiefs' Week 11 win over the Seahawks.

Advice: Smith was in full game manager mode against the Seahawks, attempting only seven passes in the second half. Dwayne Bowe was the only wide receiver to catch a pass, and his first catch did not come until four minutes into the third quarter. Smith has 285 passing yards and zero passing touchdowns the last two weeks. He is nothing more than a back-end QB2. Rotoworld.com

  • Rams hold Peyton, Broncos to 7 points in upset
Peyton Manning completed 34-of-54 passes for 389 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions in the Broncos' 22-7, Week 11 stunning loss to the Rams.

Advice: The Rams thoroughly and surprisingly dominated this one from start to finish. They sacked Manning twice, and pummeled him into the turf a handful of times in total, with Robert Quinn whipping LT Ryan Clady on a consistent basis. The Rams were also credited with 12 pass breakups, as they were swarming the ball. The defensive backs were hunting receivers, drilling them at every opportunity, and Emmanuel Sanders was knocked out of the game with a concussion. Julius Thomas exited in the first quarter with an ankle injury, so Manning only had Demaryius Thomas and C.J. Anderson to throw to for much of the day. Manning should be fine for Week 12 against Miami, but he needs one of Julius or Sanders to get healthy. The seven points were the fewest of the Peyton Manning era in Denver. Rotoworld.com

  • Bridgewater struggles mightily in Week 11
Teddy Bridgewater completed 18-of-28 passes for 158 yards, a touchdown, and an interception in the Vikings' Week 11 loss to the Bears.

Advice: He managed nine yards on five carries. Bridgewater is small and plays small in the pocket, and got nothing going outside of dump-off completions against arguably the NFL's worst pass defense. The adverse weather conditions -- snow and bitter cold -- seemed to affect Bridgewater throughout the game, and he was indecisive with his reads. The Bears' pass rush suddenly appeared rejuvenated. Bridgewater was ineffective for the fifth consecutive game. He will be a low-end two-quarterback-league option when the Vikings take on the Packers in Week 12. Rotoworld.com

  • Report: Texans, Titans interested in Hoyer
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Texans and Titans would have interest in Brian Hoyer if he reached the free agent market in 2015.

Advice: Hoyer is collecting just $1 million in the final year of a cheap contract he signed in May of 2013. Per Schefter, "Hoyer trusts (Texans coach Bill) O'Brien as much as any coach in the league" after their time together in New England, and Titans coach Ken Whisenhunt worked with Hoyer for a brief spell in Arizona. Hoyer would surely have suitors if he hit the open market, but it seems unlikely that the Browns would let him leave. Rotoworld.com

  • Peyton Manning wants to 'hold all records'
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Broncos "expect" and are "planning" on Peyton Manning playing "at least" one more season.

Advice: Per RapSheet, Manning wants to "hold all records" before he retires. He needs another season to set the all-time quarterback marks for wins and passing yards. Brock Osweiler's frustration will continue. Rapoport leaves the door open for Manning to "walk into the sunset" if the Broncos win the Super Bowl, but we're not buying it. Peyton loves his stats. If Denver wins SB49, it might actually give Manning more incentive to play another year. Rotoworld.com

  • Browns likely to let contract-year Hoyer walk?
ESPN Cleveland's Tony Grossi believes the Browns are more likely to let contract-year QB Brian Hoyer walk in free agency than re-sign him.

Advice: Ace beat writer Grossi is simply reading between the lines. But he points out that GM Ray Farmer has yet to give Hoyer a ringing endorsement as the Browns' quarterback, while Grossi gets the sense the team "brass" are very confident Johnny Manziel will be able to make every play Hoyer makes now, plus more, after sitting and learning for one season. If Hoyer "leads" the Browns to a division title and playoff berth, some team is going to shell out major cash for him. The Browns will have a tough decision, but money would give Farmer a reason to wave goodbye. Rotoworld.com

  • Geno Smith might be finished in New York
ESPN Jets reporter Rich Cimini believes Geno Smith "might be finished in New York."

Advice: It would not be a surprise if Geno is cut in the offseason. GM John Idzik will likely be fired at the end of the season, at least in part because he drafted Smith, and the new management team will want to start fresh with a new "quarterback of the future." A second-round pick in 2013, Smith has compiled a 19-to-31 touchdown-to-interception ratio through 24 career starts. Rotoworld.com

  • Kyle Orton injures toe in Thursday loss
Kyle Orton suffered a toe injury in Thursday night's loss to the Dolphins.

Advice: He says he'll be fine. Asked if he was considering going back to E.J. Manuel for Week 11 against the Jets, coach Doug Marrone said, "No, right now, that hasn't crossed my mind." Orton has 10 days to rest up. Although he's been really bad the past couple games, he should remain under center in Week 12. Rotoworld.com

  • Orton, Bills go quietly on road vs. Dolphins
Kyle Orton completed 22-of-39 passes for 193 yards, zero touchdowns and zero turnovers in Buffalo's 22-9, Week 11 loss to the Dolphins.

Advice: In a word, Orton was dismal. With the Dolphins' elite secondary wrapping up his receivers downfield, Orton never bothered to challenge, but was inaccurate at the short-to-intermediate levels. He rarely threw beyond the sticks, making big plays seem like a distant dream for the Bills' sputtering offense. Buffalo has now gone 114:51 without a touchdown, an unfathomable number. The Bills may spend some of their three days off considering going back to E.J. Manuel, but we'd expect Orton to be under center against the Jets' atrocious pass defense in Week 11. Rotoworld.com

  • Tannehill throws for two scores vs. Buffalo
Ryan Tannehill completed 26-of-34 passes for 240 yards and two touchdowns in Miami's 22-9, Week 11 win over the Bills.

Advice: He added four rushes for 17 yards, and also lost a fumble. Tannehill took a few bad sacks, holding onto the ball for too long, but was otherwise efficient as the Dolphins slowly squeezed the life out of the Bills. As usual, Tannehill displayed disastrous accuracy the few times OC Bill Lazor tried to go deep, but the missed throws didn't result in any turnovers or other cataclysms. Tannehill now has 10 days to rest up for the Dolphins' trip to Denver. The point outlook in that one will have Tannehill on the streaming radar, though the Broncos' defense is formidable. • 'Fins 'cautiously optimistic' on Tannehill
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Dolphins are "cautiously optimistic" Ryan Tannehill is their franchise quarterback.

Advice: However, Rapsheet reports "Dolphins officials" are not yet ready to "declare Tannehill is the quarterback of the future." Tannehill had the best stretch of his career in Weeks 4-9, but it came against a soft schedule. He struggled against the Lions' elite defense in Week 10. It will almost feel like Tannehill is back to square one if he has a grim showing against the Bills' stout defense on Thursday Night Football. Rotoworld.com

Robert Griffin III (ankle) is practicing in full ahead of Week 11.

Advice: Griffin looked near 100 percent prior to the bye, executing read-options and bootlegs with ease. Now he's had two weeks to get ready for a home game against a Bucs secondary that ranks near the bottom in nearly every statistical category. Streamers won't be able to do much better than RG3 this week. Rotoworld.com
