Jermaine Kearse (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday.

    • Steven Jackson (quad) expected to sit Sunday
Steven Jackson (quad) is not expected to play in Sunday's Week 17 game against the Panthers.

Advice: At age 31, Jackson wasn't going to recover from a pulled quad muscle in seven days. So the Falcons will roll into their showdown for the NFC South with a committee of Devonta Freeman and Jacquizz Rodgers at running back. Practice squad callup Jerome Smith will be the No. 3 back. Note that following S-Jax's injury last week, Rodgers played 25 snaps compared to 18 for Freeman. Quizz will handle more of the third-down work and pass game duties, while the rookie handles more base work. We far prefer Freeman as the plug-n-play -- he's more versatile and a better inside runner. Rotoworld.com

JFF finishes his rookie season 18-of-35 for 175 yards with zero touchdowns and two interceptions. He posted a 5.1 QBR and 42.0 passer rating, admitting that he didn't take the job seriously enough. Advice: There was some early-week optimism on Jackson, but darker clouds are forming now. The Falcons called up RB Jerome Smith from the practice squad Wednesday morning, giving them depth behind Devonta Freeman and Jacquizz Rodgers. Given Jackson's age (31) and history of soft tissue injuries, we'll consider him very questionable for Sunday's showdown with the Panthers. • Manziel (hamstring) will miss season finale
Johnny Manziel (hamstring) is done for the season, Browns coach Mike Pettine announced Monday.

Advice: It ends a highly disappointing first NFL season for Manziel, who failed to beat out career journeyman backup Brian Hoyer in training camp and fell flat on his face when given late-season opportunities to play. Manziel's arm is average, and he loses all semblance of zip when he doesn't deliver passes with proper technique. He is also not close to being an even passable pocket quarterback. Barring dramatic offseason improvement, we don't see Manziel as particularly likely to open 2015 as the Browns' starter. Rotoworld.com

Advice: Murray played 30-of-49 offensive snaps before getting pulled, turning 22 carries into 58 yards and a touchdown. He was not targeted in the passing game. Murray was clearly hampered by the hand injury. He carried the ball almost exclusively in his right hand and seemed wary of using his hands to block in pass protection, instead attempting to essentially tackle the blitzing defender. The Washington Post's Jason Reid writes Robert Griffin III is "expected to return" to the Redskins in 2015.

Advice: Profootballtalk reports RGIII's job status for 2015 was never in danger despite all of the reports stating otherwise in recent weeks. RGIII looked like his vintage self in a Saturday afternoon win over the Eagles, and suddenly things are peachy in D.C. RGIII has an opportunity to finish the season on a high note against the Cowboys in Week 17. Whether Jay Gruden returns as head coach remains unclear, but he's reportedly been told he'll be back. • Philip Rivers leads comeback win on Saturday
Philip Rivers completed 33-of-54 passes for 356 yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions Week 16 against the 49ers.

Advice: It was a tale of two halfs for Rivers. He started the game painfully slow, throwing two horrific interceptions and appearing to struggle with the various injuries that have hampered him the last several weeks. Rivers turned it on after the break, though, erasing a 21-point halftime deficit with three second-half touchdown passes. The performance was Rivers' best in months, but it is unlikely to repeat itself Week 17 against Kansas City. He will be no more than a QB2 for the season finale. Rotoworld.com

The Patriots have ruled out Julian Edelman (concussion) and LeGarrette Blount (shoulder) for Week 16 at the Jets.

Advice: Neither made the trip to New York. Edelman figures to be replaced by Danny Amendola, who could be a slightly intriguing "punt" play in DFS this week, although the majority of Tom Brady's targets figure to go to Rob Gronkowski, Brandon LaFell, and Shane Vereen. With Blount on the shelf, Jonas Gray will operate as New England's primary power runner between the tackles. Rotoworld.com

    • RGIII leads Washington to upset win
Robert Griffin III completed 16-of-23 passes for 220 yards and an interception in Saturday's Week 16 win over the Eagles.

Advice: Griffin looked more decisive from the pocket, and was able to go through his progressions when given time. His highlights were two 50-plus yard throws to DeSean Jackson. Grifin's interception came trying to force a pass to Jackson in double coverage, but he bounced back and led Washington to a game-winning drive. Griffin has a matchup against Dallas in Week 17. ESPN's Ed Werder reports expectations are DeMarco Murray (hand, questionable) will play Week 16 against the Colts.

Advice: This report jibes with the general feeling around Cowboys' camp this week. Murray is fully expected to be active and start against the Colts, though he may lose some pass-game work to Lance Dunbar. Murray is a must start if active, but with RT Doug Free (ankle, doubtful) and RG Zack Martin (ankle, questionable) likely out, he may find less running room than usual against Indianapolis. The good news is Pats-Jets has a 1PM ET start, so we'll know Edelman's status early. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Cowboys have left the decision to play Week 16 against the Colts up to DeMarco Murray (hand), "in which case he will definitely opt to play."

Advice: Murray's going to give it a go Sunday. He has an outside shot at netting 2,000 rushing yards -- he currently sits at 1,687 -- and is said to have a high pain tolerance. Murray's broken bone is in his left (non-dominant) hand. If he suits up, owners have to play him. Murray is having an historic season and has a plus Week 16 matchup against a leaky Colts run defense. Advice: It's an eye-brow raiser, but there's still little reason to believe Stanton will be ready to return just 10 days after spraining his knee. The Cardinals are likely just trying to confuse the situation for the Seahawks. It is a sign, however, that Week 17 could be a realistic possibility. • DeMarco Murray (hand) practices on Thursday
DeMarco Murray (hand) practiced for the second-consecutive day on Thursday, getting in a limited session.

Advice: Murray was officially listed as "DNP" on Wednesday even though he was observed by the assembled media as practicing. Either way, Murray continues to get reps, and has even been catching passes with his left hand wrapped up. It sure seems like the Cowboys expect him to suit up against the Colts, though it's possible he'll officially be a game-time decision. Murray comes with much more risk than usual for the fantasy finals, but owners in season-long leagues have to play him if he's active. Joseph Randle and Lance Dunbar will form a committee if Murray can't go. More of a pass catcher than Randle, Dunbar's role figures to be bigger than usual even if Murray plays. Rotoworld.com

Redskins coach Jay Gruden's Tuesday comments about Robert Griffin III come across much softer in context.

Advice: "(It's) important for us to try to have some success on first and second down so we don’t have to drop back and throw it 30 times a game," Gruden said. "(When) you get behind, you get in third down, you get behind the chains, those have to be accomplished — the drop-back reads and progressions have to be accomplished, and that’s something we’re fighting through right now." Gruden's comments are non-controversial when taken in their full form, but came across as inflammatory in a series of tweets from the conference call. It took hours for the comments to be presented in their proper context. Regardless of today's brouhaha, Gruden is clearly not RGIII's No. 1 fan. It's hard to see the two coexisting for 2015. Advice: Gruden might as well have just come out and said he thinks RGIII stinks. Gruden also said Griffin needs to "get up quicker," and "avoid awkward hits and falls." He wants RGIII to be "more savvy." Gruden hates the way RGIII plays quarterback, and he's making sure he gets it on the public record before the offseason. Coach Mike Pettine said Johnny Manziel will start Week 16 against the Panthers.

Advice: It also sounded like Manziel will be the starting quarterback through Week 17. That comes as no surprise. It will give the coaching staff three games of tape on Manziel and allow him to get his feet wet before 2015. He'll be a high-risk QB2 against Carolina, but one with plenty of upside. The 7-7 Browns are out of the playoff picture. Rotoworld.com

    • Rashad Jennings aggravated ankle on Sunday
Rashad Jennings aggravated his lingering ankle injury during Sunday's win over the Giants.

Advice: Jennings re-sprained the joint on his very first carry of the game. Andre Williams finished it out, rushing 18 times for 44 yards and catching one ball for nine yards. With just two games left in this lost season for the Giants, we wouldn't be surprised if Jennings shuts it down. Williams would be a weak plug-n-play at St. Louis in Week 16. Rotoworld.com

    • Jermaine Kearse has 78-yard day vs. 49ers
Jermaine Kearse caught 5-of-6 targets for 78 yards in the Seahawks' Week 15 win over the 49ers.

Advice: The 78 yards were Kearse's most of the season. He might have gone over 100, but couldn't corral what would have been a long gain on his sixth target. Kearse's big-play upside is well established, but he doesn't get nearly enough looks to be on the WR3/4 radar in fantasy leagues. Rotoworld.com

    • Philip Rivers throws two picks in loss
Philip Rivers completed 24-of-41 passes for 232 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions in Sunday's Week 15 loss to the Broncos.

Advice: Although Rivers somehow didn't get sacked, he was under heavy pressure all day and things got even worse when Keenan Allen went down with an ankle injury. It's yet another reminder of how good this Broncos defense can be with Aqib Talib and Chris Harris at corner. Rivers' season has gone in the tank since a red hot first month and a half. He's on the fantasy QB1 fringe. Rotoworld.com

    • Rudolph goes 7-69 against Lions
Kyle Rudolph caught seven balls for 69 yards in the Vikings' Week 15 loss to the Lions.

Advice: He secured all seven of his targets. This was easily Rudolph's best game since returning from sports hernia surgery. He'll be a lower-end streamer option in Week 16 against a Dolphins defense that is normally very stingy in tight end coverage. Rotoworld.com

    • LeGarrette Blount limited to two touches
LeGarrette Blount rushed eight times for 17 yards and a touchdown in New England's Week 15 win over the Dolphins, adding two receptions for seven yards.

Advice: The other shoe finally dropped for Blount, who had averaged 14.6 touches through his first three games as a Patriot. He got vultured for a three-yard score by Shane Vereen in the second quarter, and was actually out-touched 12-10 by Jonas Gray. Six of Gray's touches came with the game long decided, but he was involved while the final score was still in doubt. It's back to the drawing board for Blount's fantasy owners. He'll be a boom-or-bust RB3 against the Jets' stout run defense in Week 16. Rotoworld.com

    • Julian Edelman goes 7/88/1 versus Dolphins
Julian Edelman caught 7-of-10 targets for 88 yards and a touchdown in the Patriots' Week 15 win over the Dolphins.

Advice: Edelman is now up to 92/972/4 on the season, and has caught at least seven passes in four-straight games. He's averaged 11.75 targets in the process. Edelman will be a high-floor WR2 against the Jets for the fantasy finals. Rotoworld.com

    • Bowe makes a couple big plays against Raiders
Dwayne Bowe caught 3-of-7 targets for 69 yards Week 15 against the Raiders.

Advice: Bowe's 37-yard catch in the second quarter was his longest reception of the year, and he was ruled out of bounds on another long catch. Bowe had more than 45 yards in a game for the first time since Week 10, and it was only the fourth time all season he surpassed 60 yards receiving. Even with the "breakout," Bowe should not be owned in standard leagues. Rotoworld.com

    • Steven Jackson totals 57 yards in Week 15
Steven Jackson rushed for 46 yards on 11 carries in the Falcons' Week 15 loss to the Steelers.

Advice: He added one catch for 11 yards. Jackson has been running pretty decently lately, averaging 4.37 YPC over his last three games. He's also found the end zone four times the past seven games. Still, Jackson is mostly a low-upside, back-end RB2. He gets the Saints in Week 16. Jackson rushed for 52 yards and no scores on 12 carries against New Orleans in the season opener. Rotoworld.com

    • RG3 replaces McCoy, throws for 236 yards, TD
Robert Griffin III completed 18-of-27 passes for 236 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's Week 15 loss to the Giants.

Advice: Griffin replaced Colt McCoy on Washington's second drive. He completed his first six passes and threw a touchdown to Chris Thompson. Griffin also added five carries for 46 yards and had a rushing score overturned. His best throw was a 61-yard pass to Andre Roberts in the third quarter. The Redskins lost LT Trent Williams to injury and allowed seven sacks. Even if McCoy is cleared to return next week, Griffin played well enough that he should start the final two games. Rotoworld.com

    • Manziel goes down in flames in first start
Johnny Manziel completed 10-of-18 passes for 80 yards, zero touchdowns and two interceptions in the Browns' 30-0, Week 15 loss to the Bengals, adding five rushes for 13 yards.

Advice: It was a performance only Brian Hoyer could love. The Browns' 107 yards of offense were the fewest by any team in football this year. In Johnny Football's defense, he had two early third-down completions undone by drops, and another first down wiped out by a foolish illegal man downfield penalty. But he went off the rails after that, tossing two ugly picks, the second of which came in the end zone. The Bengals bore down on the box, eliminating Manziel's rushing lanes, and racking up three sacks. It was an ugly, ugly performance, but we'd imagine the Browns stick with Manziel for Weeks 16 and 17. He'll be a high-risk QB2 against the Panthers next Sunday. Rotoworld.com

Ryan Mathews (ankle) is inactive for Sunday's Week 15 game against the Broncos.

Advice: Matthews didn't practice all week and will be questionable for Week 16 as well. Branden Oliver will start, with Donald Brown mixing in as a change-of-pace option. Ronnie Brown could see some third-down work. The rest of the Chargers inactives: Ladarius Green, Mike Scifres, Dontrelle Inman, Damion Square, Ryan Carrethers and Cordarro Law. Rotoworld.com

    • Rashad Jennings re-injures ankle vs. Redskins
Rashad Jennings left Sunday's Week 15 game against Washington with an ankle injury.

Advice: It's the same ankle that limited Jennings to three touches last week. The Giants are listing him as questionable to return, but he's done for the game. Andre Williams will continue to handle all the carries in his absence. Rotoworld.com

    • Mort: Drew Stanton (knee) likely out 4 weeks
Appearing on Sunday NFL Countdown, ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported Drew Stanton (knee) is likely to miss four weeks.

Advice: Stanton has sprained ACL and MCLs, which means they're partially torn. The four-week timetable would put Stanton back for the Divisional Round of the playoffs. Arizona desperately needs to win the NFC West and clinch a first-round bye, though we don't believe the talent gap between Stanton and Ryan Lindley is as great as some are making it out to be. Both players are very mediocre. Rotoworld.com

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Ryan Mathews (ankle) is "highly doubtful" to play Week 15 against the Broncos.

Advice: Not a surprise. Mathews didn't practice at all this week after hurting his ankle last week. Branden Oliver and Donald Brown will handle running-back duties for the Bolts. Neither is more than a desperation RB3/FLEX option. Rotoworld.com
